Chapter 10 - Suspect of Death in the Forest

The door opened, and I lost my balance. I fell, almost fell because Galter caught me before hitting my head on the floor. I looked at it, those green eyes of her turned into brown eyes. Did I see it wrong? His eyes were not as green as yesterday. Then his hands were warm. I subconsciously looked at him in the delusion that appeared suddenly.

"Sorry, my hands are numb," Galter said which made me instantly come to my senses and get back up. What am I doing? It could be that Galter misunderstood me, or I misunderstood myself.

"Let's have breakfast, my grandfather is already waiting in the backyard."

Aunt Lin has already prepared breakfast, chocolate-filled toast, with milk that I have always liked. Grandpa doesn't seem to like Galter's existence, I can see him looking at Galter without taking his eyes off. A soothing breakfast, a meal together in the backyard, with the air still very cool.

"You must not go in! This is not a place you guys just want to enter! It must not be!" aunt Yun affirmed.

The commotion in the morning. I was the one who went back inside the castle to get my phone listening to the commotion at the front door. Aunt Yun was talking to someone, it seemed to be the person offering merchandise. Then when he showed his identification card I immediately knew that he was a policeman, not a traveling salesman. What are the police doing here? Why should it be so early?

"Sorry ma'am, we're here because it's our job. Ma'am should help us in this investigation. "

I showed up out of curiosity, and aunt Yun directly pulled me in and closed the door with a bang. Aunt Yun's attitude is unusual because aunt Yun is not a person who will close the door so hard to an important person, let alone the police.

"Miss has to leave here, hide or pretend to be sick. The policeman looked for Miss and attempted to take Miss away. I can't let them take Miss away, Miss is the victim," aunt Yun said with a calm-looking face, taking me away from the door.

Grandpa appeared along with Galter who was listening to the commotion. Aunt Yun explained about the police who came because they found my fingerprints on a man's cell phone found in the woods. They suspected I did something to someone named Budi, and I did do something to help. Now I am a suspect in a murder case.

"Let him go. If my granddaughter is indeed innocent, then they can't hold my granddaughter for much longer," grandpa said immediately walking into his room and dressed to accompany me.

Galter looked like he didn't know what to do. Indeed, Galter should not have been involved further. If this matter is resolved easily, then Galter will not have to give any testimony.

Aunt Yun originally disagreed, but went back to open the door and saw that the policeman was still standing waiting patiently. I went out and met them. Nurse Dory also just came over and was confused by what happened. Nurse Dory stared at me but I didn't respond to her as expected.

"Miss, what's the matter?" asked nurse Dory.

"None of your business," I replied sarcastically.

Grandpa came out with me, talking to the policemen. Grandpa tried to convince me that I was innocent, but they weren't so sure and stayed clean hard to get me with them. I was a bit terrified, I was afraid if only I made a mistake that I wasn't aware of. I don't want to be imprisoned, this will make things worse, especially with the reputation of the mother. Mother will not forgive me if I ruin her image.

"Eiryana, calm down. You are innocent, they won't be able to do anything bad to you. Sure if you want to do good by helping yourself," Galter said holding me by the shoulders and calming me down with those sweet words. His words made me calm down a little, and confident.

"Thank you, I need it."

Grandpa was still talking to them and there was a look of annoyance on grandpa's face. Grandpa's will was not fulfilled, they did not allow grandpa to come with them during the investigation. He said the family could have caused a riot during the investigation.

"You're the one named Eiryana?" asked the male policeman who had been talking to grandpa.

"Yes."

"Come with us. This is not an arrest, just a conjecture. We will release you within twenty-four hours of proving your innocence. Let's work together," the policeman said extending his hand to me as a sign of friendship.

"What's your name, Mr. Police?" I asked shaking his hand boldly.

"Detective Lucas. It's good to serve you."

"It's great to cooperate with you, Mr. Lucas."

***

Mr. Lucas took me to the police station and put me in the detention cell that was outside. I didn't expect that, in my life, I set foot into the police station and faced the obvious murder lover who looked like a beast.

The police station seemed to be busy with papers that I didn't know about. I waited, waited for my name to be called or someone to come to free me. I was nervous, afraid to say things carelessly. Grandpa is not with me, I am alone here, trying to solve my problems. I was such a fool to take a bad guy's cell phone and write that message.

Someone came over and opened this prisoner's cell. Told me to come out and come with him into a room.

"Name?"

"Eiryana Volpusk Jasmine Cornelius."

"Age?"

"Fourteen years old."

"What are you doing in the woods together with this guy?" asked Mr. Lucas showing a photo of a bad guy who turned out to have the name Budi.

"He kidnapped me in the woods," I replied without hesitation.

"How is it? Explain it to us."

I explained about the journey to go home, met a bad guy aka Budi, was kidnapped, Budi asked for ransom, grandpa pretended that his grandson was not missing and sent help to save me. The end of the story.

"Then, why can your fingerprints be on the victim's mobile phone?" asked Mr. Lucas revealing a serious face, which made me even more nervous. "Then did you see what killed the victim?"

"I should have been a victim here. Look at this!" I exposed the hand slices and rope marks that tied my hands very tightly. Mr. Lucas saw the rope marks on my hand that hadn't disappeared and confirmed it with the rope they found in the car, it was the same.

"Answer my previous question kid," said Mr. Lucas beginning to understand what was going on.

"I took the phone because I knew I wouldn't be able to carry it with me, I couldn't drag a corpse like a killer. I can't hold him, his body is bigger than mine. So I gave a message to the police station, hoping that you guys find it because the position of the incident is in the middle of the forest, I'm afraid that no one is walking around in the woods," I retorted without stopping or trying to think like making a fabricated story.

"Then who killed him?"

I fell silent, I swallowed my saliva. Don't want to, I don't want to tell the incident, and I don't want Senem to be hunted down because I said an existence that should be folklore here.
