Chereads / I Will Save Damsels in Distress! / Chapter 21 - Encounter

Chapter 21 - Encounter

Yellow traversed the path filled with dried soil. The fallen leaves scattered as his feet pass through them.

He tries to do his best to not make any noise while walking, although noise is still heard every time he stepped, it is not that loud for anyone to notice without listening carefully.

One trick Yellow learned with his mother's plants' sacrifice is that when you apply small air slashing slightly from the path of noise his feet is stepping on, the noise becomes significantly inaudible. This is even easier as he can freely control the wind within a small area around him. With continuous practice in his exploration in the forest, he became quite proficient with it.

He sneakily passed tree by tree. He hid, looked, ran past, then sometimes crawl underneath a thick root just to see a deer.

"Phew~"

Yellow couldn't dare to be so calm. He knows that his body is small. He knows that he's weak. He also knows that a forest, especially in a fantasy world, is filled with danger lurking around. He's tensed all throughout.

But still, he is still doing this, because if just because of his fears…

Someone died…

Near him…

And he…

Did not do anything about it…

"It's the same as killing them just by standing without doing anything."

He knows that he's overthinking it. He knows that he is delusional of becoming a hero, but still,

"I need to do this."

"Because everyone just looks."

"Someone has to do it."

With the memories of his past life becoming very clear to him after traversing that sea of light, he becomes more emotional in his heart. But yet, his head is also cold with clear purpose.

Half of his life is happiness brought by the presence of his family, while the other half is sadness brought by being alone without any relatives… and being tormented by edgy light novels he read out of his passing curiosity that became addiction.

This time…

"I will save at least one in distress…"

"It will be different this time."

"I promise, to do things right, unlike that night when we both died."
