Darrian was surrounded by countless enemies and he felt his strength declining as the pain from his numerous wounds cut through him like a knife. He knew that if he stops now, he would not live to see the morning. He had to keep fighting, for his granddaughters and for their future. Despite his exhaustion and injuries, he managed to keep his sword moving, parrying and striking with a skill honed by years of practice. His enemies pressed in from all sides, their blades flashing in the dim light, but he held them off with a determination born from his love for his family.
Yet, no matter how hard he fought, they kept coming, wave after wave of them. His arms and legs were heavy, his wounds were deep and many. He felt the blood streaming from his body, and the strength draining from his limbs the smell of blood and sweat filled the air. He wanted to give up, to rest, to sleep, but he knew he had to keep going. He had to protect his granddaughters, to ensure that they had a bright future.
And so, he kept fighting, striking and parrying with a skill honed by years of practice and a determination born from his love for his family. Even tough his vision gets blurrier he fought with a courage and strength he never knew he had and the enemy kept falling. He fought until the last man fell and then he collapsed, his body and his will completely spent. But he had done it, he had won. He had protected his granddaughters, and ensured them a bright future.
He hoped that this was the last but then on the horizon another army marshed towards him and he recognized thier flag... it was the army he once led. His former friends and subordinates marshed towards him. And he let out a sigh as he knew he would die today, but at least his granddaughters should survive and he will do anything for it to hapen no matter the cost. Once again he picked up his sword but his legs and body betrayed him, he as unable to stand up... gathering all of his remaining strength and with all his willpower he stood up once again...
Darrian felt a chill run through his body as he watched the army coming towards him. He had led them through many battles and now, for the first time, he was facing them as an enemy. His body trembled with exhaustion, but he pushed forward, knowing that he was the only one who could protect his granddaughters which he had sworn to protect.
He pulled out his sword and readied himself for battle. He could feel his body straining under the weight of fatigue and battle wounds, his breathing becoming heavier with each step. He paused, looking around at the endless sea of soldiers, knowing that he was no match for them in his current state.
Despair began to fill his heart, but then he remembered the faces of those he had sworn to protect and he knew he had to fight. He raised his sword, and with a loud cry of defiance he taunted the oncoming army.
He fought with all his heart and soul, but the sheer number of enemies was overwhelming. He was constantly pushed back, but he refused to give up, slashing and thrusting his way through the throngs of enemies. No end was in sight and a sword stabbed him, it was his fromer best friend that pushed the sword through his chest... piercing his heart and six other followed.
With a last war cry he took down more enemies before he was hit and smashed into the ground. His vision is getting blurrier and blurrier... then he saw two silluothes run towards and scream at him... but he couldn't hear anything.
The two granddaughters, their faces full of determination, ran towards the soldiers, their arms stretched out before them. As the soldiers raised their swords, ready to strike down the young girls, a burst of energy shot out from their hands and collided with the weapons of the soldiers. The weapons were split in two, the shards of metal scattering across the ground as the soldiers stepped back in shock.
The girls then continued their sprint towards their grandfather, their steps light and graceful despite their burden of worry. As they reached him, they both knelt down at his side, their hands clasped together in a plea for mercy. But it was too late. The soldiers had regained their composure and were already closing in, their weapons raised and ready to strike. The girls looked up and saw the grim faces of the soldiers as they advanced, their swords pointed straight towards them.
In a desperate attempt to save their grandfather, the girls shouted out in unison, their voices ringing out across the battlefield. A powerful force then erupted from their bodies, a wave of pure energy that sent the soldiers flying backwards. The girls had used their combined powers to create a protective barrier around their grandfather, shielding him from the soldiers' blades.
The soldiers, stunned and confused, retreated to a safe distance as the girls huddled around their grandfather, their arms tightly wrapped around him. Although Darrian was still barely alive, his two granddaughters had used their newfound powers to save him from certain death. The army kept marching on and on slashing, striking and smashing the protective barrier... it crumbeled and started to crack more and more... they had no more hope and Darrian layed on the ground, unconscious and helpless, his wounded body barely able to take the strain of the recent events. He could hear his two granddaughters, their voices desperate to help him, but he could do nothing to protect them. He felt a wave of guilt wash over him as he lay there, knowing that he had failed to protect them from whatever danger had befallen them.
He heard one of them calling out for help, her voice frantic as she searched for a way to save him. Then he heard the other one, her voice soft and determined, as she tried to think of a way to help him. Darrian felt tears stinging his eyes as he listened to their desperate efforts. He knew that he had failed them, and he was filled with regret.
He wished he was strong enough to help them, to be the man that they needed him to be. But he wasn't, and he felt a deep shame at not being able to protect them. He wanted to reach out to them, to tell them how proud he was of them, of their courage and strength. But he could only lie there, helpless and unable to do anything.
He felt a wave of sadness wash over him as he heard them continue to search for a way to save him. He wished he could tell them how much he loved them, and how sorry he was that he wasn't able to protect them. He felt a surge of pride as he heard them never give up, even in the face of such dire circumstances.
Darrian lay there, listening to his granddaughters as they tried to save him, feeling more helpless and ashamed of himself than ever before. He wanted to apologize for not being able to protect them, for not being able to be the man that they needed him to be. But all he could do was lay there, and listen to the sound of their beautiful voices as they tried to save him.
The barrier broke and the soldiers rushed at the... with tear filled eyes they gazed at the stars and then at the swords which were pointed at them in order to kill.
Then something like a beam of fire struck down into the ground like lightning and a sea of flames erupted from it burning down the enemies close to him. Fear spread around the enemies lines which has led to them hesitating to attack Arthur. He approached Darrian, Haylee and Kaylee slowly...
Darrian: "Arthur, I cannot express my gratitude to you enough. You have saved my granddaughters from this terrible curse and set them free. I owe you a debt of honour that I can never hope to repay." He coughed up blood and got even paler...
Arthur: "I was just repaying the favour of saving my life Darrian. Your granddaughters are two brave and determined souls. I am glad that I could help."
Darrian: "I must now ask of you a favour. I fear for their safety. I am afraid that I will die here on this battlefield... I already killed the strongest enemies so far but could you please protect them and bring them to my sister-in-law so that she can protect them in my stead?" And he handed him a letter with more information...
The enemies kept closing ind rapidly after they overcame their former shock...
Arthur: "Of course, Darrian. I will make sure they reach her safely. You have my word."
Darrian: "Thank you, Arthur. You have no idea how much this means to me. I cannot thank you enough."
Arthur slowly kneeled down and gently laid Darrian's body on the ground. He closed his eyes for a few moments, taking a deep breath before standing up. With a swift wave of his hand, the enemies that were coming closer were engulfed in flames, their screams of pain and surprise echoing through the air. His eyes started to glow faintly, a faint blue light that seemed to come from within him, and he could feel the power coursing through his veins. He knew he had to keep going, to fullfill Darrian's dying wish, and he was determined to do so with every ounce of his being.
Arthur took Darrian's sword, a well made masterpiece and still simple looking, and rushed at the enemies without any hesitatence ready to kill them all. An epic battle emerged there, flames full of anger and rage lighted up the night and the sound of swords clashing against each other filled the silent and dark night. Arthur used all of his skills in order to keep going and slaughtered all the enemies till dawn broke...
The sun rays seemed to wander around the battlefield, it looked mysterious yet tragic... the bodies of countless humans pierced by swords, spears, daggers and so on could be seen, as well as hills of corpses laying above each other... It's not a sight anyone would want to see and only after dawn one could see the result of their battle...
The girls knew that their grandfather was beyond their help, and tears pooled in their eyes as they stared at him. They had done all they could, and now they had to accept that he might not make it.
They stayed with him, cradling him in their arms until the morning light filled the sky. As the sun rose, Darrian's breathing slowed, and finally stopped. It was then that the two sisters realized that their grandfather was gone.
The girls laid their grandfather's body to rest and said their last goodbyes. They had just discovered the power to save lives, yet they had not been able to save the one person who mattered most.
They had lost their grandfather, but in that moment, they also found each other. The two sisters embraced, and in that embrace, they found strength and comfort. They had a bond that could never be broken, and a power that could never be taken away.
The two sisters walked away from the battlefield escorted by Arthur that morning, not as two grieving girls, but as two warriors – united in their mission to protect those they loved.
As Arthur walked the girls to their grandmother, he was filled with a sense of dread and anticipation. He couldn't help but think back to the incident in the ruin that had led him to this conclusion – that this world has more secrets than he had ever fathomed, and only by discovering them could he fulfill his mission.
The memory of the ruins was still vivid in his mind: the arachne queen, the mysterious runes on a broken wall he seemed to intuitively understand. He had an overwhelming urge to explore the ruins further, to uncover the secrets that lay beneath, but he knew he couldn't. He had promised Darrian that he would bring them safely to their grandmother, and so he suppressed his curiosity and pushed forward, determined to fulfill his promise.
The eerie silence of the forest only seemed to heighten his awareness of the hidden knowledge all around him. He felt as if he were standing at the edge of a great abyss, and that if he dared to step any closer, he would be swallowed up by the secrets of this unknown world.
He knew that his journey had only begun and that he would have to uncover the secrets of the ruin if he was to fulfill his mission. And so, he kept walking, determined to find the answers he sought, one step at a time.
