Chereads / Natasha's Revenge / Chapter 6 - Once an angel

Chapter 6 - Once an angel

Slowly the day faded as the sun began disappearing from the sky. Reaper sat unmoving the whole time. He looked like a glorified statue sitting and staring at the bed unblinking.

Natasha stirred on the bed and her eyes slowly opened which she closed shut again before adjusting to the light. She sat up and looked at her watch which she had failed to take off before falling asleep and saw that it was already six in the evening.

Hurriedly, she woke from the bed ready to leave but paused when she found a silhouette sitting on the sofa staring at her.

"Reaper?" she called not sure if it was him or not. Her eyes were still a little sleepy so she could not make out who he was.

After blinking a couple of times, her vision was clear enough to make out who it was. She immediately recognized him from those eyes of his that shone out even in darkness. She smiled when she thought of that.

Reaper finally rose to his feet and walked up to her. "My little bunny, are you ready to go?" he asked.

"Mhm. But I want to do this alone for now. Nobody will be dying yet, but soon they will. I won't go against my words." Natasha said thinking that he would offer to accompany her.

"I know," Reaper said looking deep into her eyes.

"You trust me that much?" Natasha asked. The surprise was evident in her eyes.

"Yes," he answered curtly.

"Why?" Natasha asked. She just couldn't help

it.

"You were once an angel, now you are a fallen angel. And when an angel falls, there isn't a creature more vengeful than him." Reaper said with his usual stoic expression, lifeless tone, and empty eyes.

"You are wrong there, Reaper," Natasha said. "I didn't fall, I was thrown. I only accepted the darkness that they have thrown me to and it welcomed me so I embraced it."

Natasha said and lifted her gaze to meet Reapers. They shared a gaze for a couple of minutes with none uttering a word to the other.

"I see," Reaper said after a while but still not breaking eye contact with her.

Eventually, Natasha moved her gaze to the hourglass beside her bed breaking the eye contact. "I should get going. He would be back soon and I want to get there before he does," she said.

Reaper nodded. "Very well then. I won't hold you back," he said. Right after that, the black flames appeared and engulfed him before he vanished leaving Natasha alone in the large room.

Natasha walked over and picked up the hourglass, she stared at it for a while and a sinister smirk appeared on her face. Soon she disappeared from the room as well.

*******

On the other side of the City, a BMW pulled over in a beautiful mansion. A guard stepped out from one of the other two cars that followed the BMW and opened the door, Nigel stepped out and walked into the mansion.

Remembering what had happened in the office, he decided to go into the study to check if the missing documents from the office were there.

Upon entering the study, his eyes caught a glimpse of Natasha sitting cross-legs, fingers intertwined with each other and elbows resting on the armrest of the chair in front of the study desk, he froze.

'Why was this happening? Did she die? If so, then who took her body out?' His head started aching as multiple questions came into his mind. He still couldn't bring himself to accept that she was dead.

The night that Natasha went missing, he remembered how furious he was that night. He killed some of his men because he blamed them for losing her and deleting the footage from the surveillance video. But now he could not understand how she could get in and out without passing through the doors or being caught on camera.

After regaining his senses, he put his hand in the inner pocket of his suit brought a pistol, and pointed it at her. "Natasha, how did you get in here? Who let in?" he asked taking slow steps towards her.

Natasha tilted her head to the side and smiled at him but made no change to her sitting position. She made no effort to get away even after seeing the gun pointed at her.

Her smile took him off guard. She had a beautiful smile that could lighten anyone's mood. The situation right did not require that but her smile was still as enchanting as always. That was a smile that he would have appreciated if his greed had not had the best of him a long time ago.

"Why? We missed our wedding night, so I am here now. Aren't you happy to see me?" she asked tilting her head to the side while giving an innocent face. "And as for who let me in, I let myself in, you don't have to worry about being betrayed."

"How did you get in?" he asked ignoring the rest of her words.

"You shouldn't worry about either because I will not be telling you. Sooner or later you will figure it out. You are a smart man, Nigel." Natasha said.

"Don't play with me, Natasha, you won't get out of here alive. So answer me!" Nigel ordered.

"Nah. I will. Have you thought of how I got through a locked door? I will leave the same way." she said casually while shrugging her shoulders.

Nigel moved closer and she stood abruptly making him take a step back immediately. She opened a drawer and took out an empty file and shoved something inside it before looking at Nigel who still had his pistol pointed at her and smiled and said, "Watch out Nigel, death is standing beside you and everyone of your allies, it will snap your heads off before you notice it's presence,"

she bent once again and picked up the hourglass from the floor she then placed it on the desk and spoke again, "The clock is ticking and your time is running out," she said before she disappeared again.

After Natasha left, Nigel moved to where she was and found an open case just beside the seat. He has been trying to open the case right from the day that Natasha went missing but he could not do so. He did not know the code to open it but now Natasha just opened it and took out what was inside. If he had known before, he would make her open it before their marriage or better yet, wait for a little while before killing her family.

He slumped in the seat behind him feeling frustrated and tired all of a sudden. It was clear that he would not get back those documents or the content of the case.
