Claire Bonavich was waiting for her chauffeur outside to take her home.
She was Amelia's first target on her hit list.
Since Claire is the most boring one. She knew that damaging her reputation will cause a massive uproar in the group.
When her videos and pictures went viral online, the whole academy was buzzing with chatters and whispers, some girls love her for being the fashion and trendy icon. While some girls are hated for capturing the King's attention.
Her life at the Academy is perfect, with a virtual crown on her head, a perfect family, and her group. She was living up to her dream, she has everything everyone has ever wanted. Even the unattainable man was in her grasp.
Everything seemed perfect, not until Amelia Montgomery arrived.
After Claire received the text from her mother to come back home, she has no choice but to oblige.
The news about her extracurricular activities has reached her mother's ears. Sophia Bonavich was shocked to see her little girl on the screen. This scandal will forever disgrace their name.
With their high social status in society, it was easy for her to pull some strings, and voila! The horrendous image and videos were destroyed.
Claire's family has funded the Academy handsomely it would be a great loss if they don't have them, so the Academy compromised that Claire will be suspended temporarily for one week.
However, with her gone temporarily, Amelia can finally move into her next phase.
Amelia was in her Spanish class when Alessandro walked in, she cursed under her breath when their eyes met. With a huff, she rolled her eyes at him, his grin widened and he strode toward her with a goal in his mind. He pulled the empty chair beside her and sat.
Her once-good mood turned sour, and she scowled at him.
"Why are you doing here? Don't tell me you're stalking me now?"
Alessandro relaxed on his seat Amelia studied his handsome features. Her frown deepened.
"Why can't I see my favorite girl?" He has a stupid grin on his face.
"Favorite my ass, Oh, God you're so annoying. Ugh, I can not believe this," she shook her head and muttered curses under her breath. Alessandro looks at her with amusement in his eyes.
"Hey, I can't be that bad you know." He whispers and wiggles his eyebrows.
"Shut up, I'm still mad at you."
"Oh yeah?" he leaned over, his lips close to her cheeks, Amelia gasped and push his face.
"You're too close!"
Alessandro smirked in response. He loves to annoy her, watching her face flush with embarrassment is fun.
The door opens and Elijah walked in together with Sebastian and Constantine. The loud chatters are silenced, Amelia's smile drops when she saw them walking in front of the class.
Of course, all good things come to an end Amelia muttered under her breath.
Elijah walked into his seat followed by Sebastian and Constantine. Amelia pressed her lips shut when she felt a burning hole in the back of her head.
She was disappointed after finding out that she shared the same class as hers. On the bright side, she was glad that Alessandro was around, and somehow, his mere existence can drive off the animosity she felt towards them.
Lillian Phillips attained her position in the Academy through scholarship, her arcane was a rare type of ability and helped her gain the attention of the council. Lilian was a Technology arcane and discovered a breakthrough to bring people back from the dead, through science.
They rewarded her and have many fanatics over the world, but what happened to her?
Amelia saw her limping in the hall, her eyes were puffy red and they are dark purple bruises on the side of her neck. She watched with curiosity as the poor girl limped toward the room, she noticed that something was off, her hair was a mess, her clothes were in disarray, and her skirt.
She approached her and tried to talk to her but she flinched when she was about to touch her, concerned Amelia thought it would be better for them to speak in private, so she located an empty room and locked it. Away from the prying eyes of students, God knows how much they love juicy gossip like her.
"Hey, are you alright?" She softens her tone seeing her shaking and crying. Amelia's heart broke seeing someone so helpless like her.
She muttered a small no and shook her head, her tears spilling on her chubby cheeks. Amelia furrowed her eyebrow in confusion.
"Never mind, j-just doesn't mind me." she blurted out not meeting her eyes.
"You know I'm your friend right? I can help you. Just tell me what's wrong."
"I'm sorry but I can't."
Amelia sighed, there was no helping it. So she tried another approach.
"You know that I can help right? Who is it? I'm going to kick their ass for you, just tell me the name,"
Her frantic eyes met hers. "Promise me, you won't tell."
She nodded her head. Amelia observed as Lilian started to compose herself and stumbled on her words. She was stuttering and shaking and Amelia found it hard to understand her.
"I-I..." she opened her mouth to speak and a choked sob escaped her dry lips.
"He did this to me, he ruined me.." then she burst into tears.
Amelia could only offer comfort as she held the crying friend between her arms. Her mind swirled with different scenarios and the names of possible classmates, she has her suspicion but she was still in the dark with the other details.
"Can you tell me their names?" She hopes that it wasn't them that she was thinking. Her heart rattled in her chest.
"I can tell, they will kill me. I'm sorry but please drop it. I don't want to involve my family, we don't stand a chance with them. They are too powerful," she begged.
Amelia squeezed her hand in reassurance. Lilian hiccups and added, "I don't want to end up dead like Reagan Tate."
Amelia's eyes widened.
This was the first clue she has been searching for, the lead to the murder of her best friend.
Lillian sobbed holding her face with her shaky hands, Amelia fought back the tears that threatened to spill.
How can someone be so cruel? She gritted her teeth and clenched her fists.
"Don't worry, your secret is safe with me."
Lilian looked at her with tears in her eyes and whispered, "Thank you."
A few months ago, after Reagan transferred into the Academy, Amelia noticed that she barely send her any letters, or even answered her phone.
She thought that she might be busy in school, however, in the following months, Amelia discovered that her best friend is missing. Since then, the police have been looking for her.
"I'm so sorry that this has happened to you, I truly am, but do you mind if I ask you if they have anything against you?"
"They threatened to kill me if I rat them into the authorities but since I was too scared to do that, they offered to pay me with my silence."
She looks down at her dark plaided skirt, her mascara running down her cheeks.
"You must have thought that I am a coward." She sniffs.
"No, I don't any sane person in your place would do the same thing."
"Yeah, I suppose.."
Amelia bit the side of her cheek contemplating how to launch her next question.
"Did he wire the money using a bank account?"
Lilian nodded her head.
"Does it make me bad for taking the money to keep my silence? I felt disgusted with myself, for accepting that money. It's not like you get that kind of money somewhere, I understand that it made me look like a cheap whore, in someone's else eyes, but I was torn! You know that I was less fortunate than the other students here,"
She sniffed and wiped her tears.
"I have no choice but to swallow my pride and accept it."
Amelia hugged her, her mind was reeling.
"You don't need to blame yourself, it's not your fault. It's on them, people like them thought that they can buy everything with their money, but they are wrong, don't worry, when the time comes, the truth will come out eventually,"
"I hope so,"
After Lilian left, Amelia was left alone with her thoughts. She dialed a number, it rang until the person pick it up.
"I thought you had forgotten me." The voice rasps, Amelia rolled her eyes.
"Shut up, now is not the time for your silly antics."
"A little grumpy don't we? What got your panties in a twist?"
She snorted. "I need you to track someone, I'll send you the details."
