It was lunchtime and Amelia was sitting alone, she was lost in her thoughts chewing mindlessly her sandwich.
Over the past couple of days, she began to think about her next step, yes she has a lead about Rae but that was it. She needs to get closer to the Elites to gather more information. Thanks to Alessandro her one-time chance has been snatched away. She would never get the chance to get close to them again.
Elijah's words rang in her ears, "one more thing, you're invited to join The Big Five's table from now on."
She shook her head, no way in hell she would have fallen into his trap, she knew she has to figure out something.
Though part of her wanted to jump on the opportunity.
Something in her told her that it wouldn't take her long until the idea came when she glanced up and saw the Devil striding over her with a dark smile on his handsome face. Without Claire, the chances of drama were zero.
"Thank fuck for that," she muttered and masked her expression.
"Your Highness, to what I owe this pleasure for your sudden visit?" She mocked earning a gasp from the neighboring table.
Elijah gracefully slides onto the nearby seat and put his hands on the table, and clasps his hands together. The silver band on his finger glimmers when the sun touches it, a family crest she presumes. Today, his inky black hair was swept to the side, his face void of emotion, his dark eyes assessing her, calculating every move. Amelia pressed her lips tightly, she wondered if she overdo it. she tends to be extreme when she was nervous.
Amelia held his gaze briefly, she refused to be intimidated by him, in the end, Elijah leaned on his seat with a chuckle on his lips.
He was impressed, no other student held his gaze far from this long, she was different from the others he encountered so far.
"Why are you sitting here? didn't I tell you that you were to sit with us? What's stopping you?"
Amelia smiled tightly as the other students began to murmur. She wasn't used to this kind of attention. In fact, she hated it. These were the students who watched and did not do anything to help her best friend.
"I think, I'm fine here. I hate dramas so you can go and have a nice chat with your friends."
She knew that she was pushing it, What an idiot. This was her chance yet, her words were in contrast to what she wanted.
She made a motion in her hands and shoo him away. Everyone in the cafeteria fell silent. No one has ever insulted their King in this way.
Some of the Elites followers began to stand up ready to support their King.
"Hey, woman that's-"
Elijah held his hand and bowed then took his seat. Amelia cringes internally and faces Elijah.
"You never fail to amaze me, you are far the most intriguing woman I've met so far," Elijah mused.
"Then, I guess I, I will take it as a compliment,"
Amelia glanced at the Elite's table where Sebastian and Constantine sat, Sebastian waved at her, and she returned it with a stiff smile on her face.
Amelia sat on the edge of her seat wishing for him to just spill the beans and get over with it. She knew that Elijah didn't come here for idly chat, he always has a hidden motive behind his actions.
"Do you have plans for this weekend?" He says casually, Amelia raised her brows in question.
Elijah asking her out on a date? She wanted to barf at the absurdity.
"And why is that?" She narrows her eyes, her body on full alert.
"There has to be a catch, I am missing something?" she thought.
"Be my date at Claire's party. It's been all over the academy, and I do not doubt that you haven't heard it."
Amelia scoffed.
"And why would I do that? We both know how crazy she is over you, and you're asking me to be your date?" She scoffed.
"Unfuckingbelievable!" she threw her hands in the air and laughed dryly. Elijah stared at her with a blank look on his face.
"It's not a request, it's a demand. You will attend this party without questions. I will send someone to collect you by five and have them drive you there. Don't be difficult Miss Montgomery, you wouldn't like the consequences if you disobey me."
With that, he stood on his seat and walked leaving her with a dumbfounded expression.
Did he just invite her and threatened her? What an asshole. Amelia muttered under her breath.
The days fly on, and her thoughts about the upcoming party. How ridiculous, she doesn't understand how Claire's mind works. She wondered what would be her expression when she saw both of them at her party.
"Oh, joy. I'm so looking forward to it."
Amelia was on her way to the girl's dorm when her back slammed on the wall. She grunted in pain and glared at the person who caused it.
The guy seems familiar, and her eyes widened. It was the guy from the cafeteria earlier. One of the Elite's followers.
He lifted his hands and Amelia's body began to move, her feet barely touching the floor.
"I don't know what the King sees in you but I won't let a pathetic low life like you humiliate him with your filthy hands!"
Instead of feeling scared and intimidated, Amelia looked at him with a blank expression.
"Are you done?" she crossed her arms. From anyone else point of view, this would look weird, however, Amelia was over it. This idiot doesn't know what the Elites are truly capable of, they just follow them blindly. Worship the ground they walked on not realizing that they are being manipulated.
"Don't be so full of yourself, once he was done playing with you, he will toss you aside, low lives like you didn't deserve to be by his side! let alone look at them!"
Amelia burst out laughing. She couldn't hold it anymore.
"What is so funny-"
"Okay, times up." She stops and snaps her fingers. The fire began to appear on the floor in circles. The student gasped in fear and loosened the levitate arcane he possessed on Amelia.
Amelia dusted her skirt and sauntered toward the student who cowered in fear of her.
"You must be a fool to think that I will let you with this," she whispered. Her brown eyes changed colors from brown to black.
For a moment, Amelia felt like her mind began to fog, she didn't know what possessed her. It was like she was a different person in her body.
"I hope that this will serve you a lesson for getting cross with me." her voice was way airy but there was malice on it.
"Wh-what are you?"
She smiled, but there was wickedness in it.
"Burn."
His shirt start to burn, the fire licking his skin, and the man screamed in pain. Amelia stood as the man began to wail.
A pair of warm hands wrapped around her waist, Amelia tensed, the scent of expensive Cologne invading her nose.
"Amelia, you have to stop this, I know you didn't want to do this. Don't let your power get to you. I know that you were not kind of this person."
She blinked back startled, and the fogginess in her mind starts to dissipate. The fire was off and so was the man who was whimpering in fear. Alessandro was quick to catch Amelia when she began to collapse. He looks at the man and uses his arcane to compel him.
"You will forget that you saw us and you will go to the nurse's clinic and tell them that you accidentally burn yourself. You will forget everything that happened. Understood?"
The man nodded his head, his eyes were in a daze.
After the man left, Alessandro transported them using his arcane over her room, he lay her carefully on her bed and caressed her cheeks.
"I see that your abilities are growing stronger day by day, indeed you are truly a firecracker.
I hope that you will not let this power consume you as your parents did."
He whispered with a solemn expression on his face.
With that, he transported leaving nothing in its wake.
Morning came and Amelia was greeted by the blinding lights of the sun. She groaned and rubbed the tiredness on her eyes. She felt drained like her whole body has lost its energy. She sat up and looked around.
"What the hell? how did I get into my room? I don't remember walking here?" she wondered and look around.
she tried to rack her brain but found nothing, she reckons that she was talking to the guy, one of the Elite's followers then nothing.
"Weird," she muttered and looked at the time. It was past eight in the morning.
"Shit, I got breakfast meeting with Lillian this day! oh God, I'm going to be late!"
She rambled and ran into her bathroom, she stripped her clothes off and washed her hair thoroughly, muttering curses about how she can forget about their meeting.
Lillian was a student of Arcane academy who had the misfortunate events by one of the Elites, Amelia continue to talk to her even though she is out in school now, and they kept in contact for over the months. Lilian was on her due date now.
After fifteen minutes, Amelia was out and running with her purse in her hands, a small smile plastered on her face because she knew that she was the first key to unlocking the mysteries of Rae's disappearance.
Unaware that she is being watched.
