Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

And what are you gonna do about it?" Said the first guy, who I felt was their leader. Markus… I thought I heard someone call him that. He walked to me and stood right in front of me, with no atom of fear whatsoever, as the others stood right next to him; two of them by his side and the last one behind me. They had me cornered.

I felt the urge to drive my hand through his chest. I wanted to rip his heart out so badly. But he was their leader. What fun would it have been to take out their leader first?

I've seen lots of movies. The constant clashes between the heroes and the villains. The hero always fights the villain last. Somehow, everyone expected that. There was just a tiny difference in this case. I was no hero.

I raised my hands as I slowly stood. I needed to give them a false sense of security. They were humans after all; powerless humans. They were no threat to me and this was just a waste of my precious time. They stepped back a bit. I saw Markus smiling at the others and shaking hands with the guy by his right. He must have been very glad. Such a fool.

I quickly turned around and grabbed the guy behind me by the neck, lifting him with my left hand and turning to the others. He kicked his legs and swung his arms, doing his utmost to be free of my grip but it wasn't going to happen. I laughed so hard at his futile attempt. I guessed he was starting to learn his lesson. I wish he had learned it sooner.

"Get him!" Markus screamed at the other two who seemed a bit hesitant to do as they were told. Why wouldn't they? Their partner was still in the air, screaming and pleading for his life as I slowly squeezed the life out of him.

Markus decided to take the bull by the horns and charged at me with the wood in his hands. I threw the guy I held at him and they both fell to the ground. Then, I jumped on one of the other guys, floored him and began to punch him in the face. With each hit, blood oozed from his face onto my face, his shirt and the floor. I stood from him and dragged him up. He was a bloodied mess.

"You made me do this," I confessed, as I lifted so that the others could see him. They were visibly terrified; Markus too.

I was certain they could barely recognize their partner who was on the verge of death. His nose was almost nonexistent, his eyes were swollen shut and his lips were severely cut. I wasn't satisfied. I had one last trick up my sleeves. If they were going to delay me and probably cost me my payment, surely, they had to pay for that.

I drove my right hand into his chest, smiling as I did that, whilst maintaining eye contact with the rest of the guys and not with my victim. When I took out my hand, his heart came out with it. I tossed it on the floor, right in front of them with a smile. "Who's next?"

They looked like they were pissing in their shorts. They were all jittery and as I moved toward them a bit, they all took a few steps back. "Can I go now?" I asked as they didn't look in the mood for any more of what they just saw. "Are you willing to let your partner die for nothing, you cowards?"

That question seemed to trigger something in one of them as he bravely charged at me. The quest for revenge was always overwhelming and could barely recognize death. On seeing that, the other two did the same. They must have thought they'd have a better chance of winning if they attacked at once. Wise thinking, that.

I dodged a punch from the first guy and a flying knee by Markus. I held onto the hair of the third guy and dug my fingers into his neck, drawing a high-pitched scream from him. "Are we having fun yet?" I asked, letting him go. He fell to the ground and writhed in pain. The end was near for him and he knew it. He used his right hand to cover the surface of the wound to hold back the blood that oozed from his neck. It was just a matter of time.

I turned to the other two, who had wooden sticks in hand and I opened my mouth, revealing a set of fangs. I decided it was time to test out my vamp skills. The blood that flowed was too irresistible. They stepped backwards on seeing that, their sticks falling from their hands. It was at that point they knew they weren't fighting any ordinary person. They turned and began to run.

"Ahhh!" They screamed as I stood in their way. What they didn't know was that there was no way I could have let them go; not after they had seen who I was, not after all they'd planned to do to me.

I grabbed them both by the neck with each hand. "Please, don't kill us," they begged. I wish they were this humble from the start. There'd have been no need for any problems whatsoever. We'd have been good buddies, yet, they chose this path.

"Not so tough, are you?" I asked, seeing that the resolve that they previously had, had faded into nothing but fear and cowardice. They knew that they stood no chance against me. I just wondered why they didn't see that earlier, even when I ripped someone's heart out. Maybe, these humans were quite dummies.

I looked at them sternly, thinking about the best way to send them back to their maker. I thought about leaving one of them, so I could have someone to tell the story. I immediately admitted that it was a foolish plan. Instead, I smashed them both, head first, on the wall with my left hand and let them fall to the ground. Then I dug my fangs into the neck of one of them, as Markus watched in despair. I drank as much blood as I wanted and then ripped his head off, tossing his dead body to the floor.

I growled at Markus, as I approached him. He tried to drag himself away, but there was no escaping his fate. It was exactly like I envisioned. He was the last man standing, although he wasn't standing, but yeah. "You know, for such weak creatures, you did put up a good fight and I must commend you. For centuries, I have never seen such bravery amongst humans."

"For centuries?" He asked. His voice was so faint as his strength had begun to fail.

"Are you surprised that you got owned by an oldie?" I asked with a smile. He couldn't understand how I could look so young even though I was so old. That was the problem with humans. There were a lot of things that they didn't know about and they never lived long enough to know them. "Perhaps, in your next world, if there ever is, you'd know better than to challenge anyone you see on the road."

I walked across to him and lifted my right leg above his head. "Please," he begged, seeing that death was near but I had no choice. I stamped my leg on his head, utterly crushing his skull as his blood splattered all over. It had been an eventful night; more eventful than I expected, and I hadn't even carried out my assignment yet.

I took a look at my gold Rolex watch, which I always wore whenever I was on an assignment. I had a bit more than an hour left. I had to be quick. A lot was at stake here

As I walked away from the dead bodies, I heard a sound that sounded like a siren. Was that… the cops? Has anyone else seen us?
