Chapter 53 - Chapter 53

I left the courtroom to my room without uttering a word, I exited the room without taking a glimpse at him.

I landed straight to my bed as I got to my room, I was so confused by the way things took turns, I left for the showers knowing I would get my answers after dinner.

The dinner table was aligned with foods of different sorts, I sat plainly on a sit near Vivian when suddenly Eldar appaired next to me without an invite.

He took a glimpse at me as I reached for a bite of the food, he chuckled silently as I took the next, "the nerve he had".

The whole dinner, I felt like sticking his face into the beef bowl.

*Finally*

Dinner was over, I couldn't stand another second with him the whole time.

I went to Clinton's dorm unannounced to discuss his reasons for permitting Eldar the permission to court me.

I stood furious as he uttered his statement of explanation.

I am sorry for the uncalled-for proposal "He begun". Eldar is one of the most eligible royal bachelors around and he came for your hand with some external proposals "I stood in a questioning look as he continued".

The Lucan empire is vastly wider in the colony than our kingdom and you know how much it has always been your father's dream to end the slave trade and you getting married to Eldar could only make the matter easier if we could get the upper hand of emperor Caesar.

I paused for a while after he concluded.

"These were the times I wished I wasn't a princess, this had always made me open to situations like this when I had to choose the favor of our kingdom against mine" I soliloquized in agony.

Why was this happening to me, "I pondered again".

Does this mean I would be getting married to someone I don't love, all in the name of our kingdom "I asked wearing a sad look"?

Clinton gave me no response but instead gave me some time to relax and think things through.

I walked out to the gardens feeling blue.

I stared at the moon as I lay on the grass field, it was beautiful how the stars shimmered through the dim light and how all the darkness of the world lit up through this mesmerizing view.

The stars reminded me of how Lexar's eyes twinkled in my sight and the presence of moonlight described the way a lit up my day with his ever-assuring smile.

I was falling head over hills for Lexar more than I thought I would, the feeling was amazing and at the same time tormenting, "the path of love never did run smooth" those words escaped through from behind.

Vivian's grandma walked in from the meadow behind her, she walked towards me with words that answered my questions before I could ask them.

She held onto my hands and smiled.

Princess Iris, you are young yet facing a lot from the trickeries of life, choose from within your heart whom you feel would make you happy but still have in mind that a child's obligation to his or her parent is to fulfill their wishes no matter the cause.

"the old but wise woman said and dismissed before I could respond".

I landed on my bed back down with my gaze on the room ceiling, I pondered upon what she said earlier but her words didn't shine as, much light as expected.

Although I understood her statement I still questioned most of it.

How was I supposed to pick from my heart, knowing that it is Lexar I love, and for me to fulfill my father's will I had to get married to someone I was meeting for the first time in my life.
