Chapter 4 - Entering the Sky City

Boom!

Yulong managed to block the fangs from the serpent with his sword, albeit getting pushed back quite a bit.

'Damn it! A sword this weak won't do anything on those scales!' Yulong thought as he evaded another strike. This serpent was quite slow, so he could easily dodge it.

Another evasion.

Yulong slid his sword back into his inventory. Slamming his fists together, he decided to fight this snake with brute force. Leaping onto its back, he slammed his hands around its neck, using his hands to crush the neck of the serpent.

"Aooouuurrrgh!" The serpent squirmed, releasing a cry of pain that echoed through the forest. Yulong started making cracks on its neck, and suddenly, it was internally bleeding.

Yulong jumped off before jabbing his fingers into the spot where he crushed.

Using all the strength of his body, Yulong started spinning, taking the snake with him as his fingers were currently in its body.

"Hah!" Yulong grunted. After spinning enough, he threw the snake.

It was a weak throw- and with his current cultivation base, it exerted a lot out of him to throw the snake.

But it broke through five trees before stopping.

Not only that but its thick and long rope-like body was entangled throughout the forest.

"Phew... This one was significantly stronger..." Yulong said. He went to go retrieve the beast core. After that, he found a tranquil spot to cultivate.

Yulong looked at these notifications ponderingly. He could kill more magic beasts before going to the city, but there were no magic beasts currently above his level in this forest, which meant he'd have to journey to another zone.

Yulong sighed. This would be enough for now. He'd study his fist technique, head to the city, buy a better sword and sell his cores. After all, the nearest city, Sky City, wasn't rich or big. But it was good enough.

Yulong studied his technique.

Yulong then opened his attributes.

'Oh?' Yulong raised an eyebrow at seeing this. His attributes associated with the mind were larger than they were supposed to be.

'Did a part of my stats from the future get transferred?' Yulong thought, before running to Sky City. This was interesting, as he wondered what unfair advantage this would give him. Sky City was about 2,000 miles away from him, easily reachable in a few hours.

Finally, he could see the small city walls and a long line curling towards him. At the entrance, were two guards managing the line.

Yulong checked his Ying.

'More than enough. The entry fee is a cheap 5 Ying.' Yulong waited in the line before it was his turn, approaching the guards.

"Oi, you there. What business do you have here?" One of the guards asked. They were both Fifth Level True Martials, which was way above Yulong's current power.

"I have some business with the city lord. I need to buy a new sword." Yulong said. Without waiting for a reply, he dropped five Ying coins into the guard's hands.

The guard raised his eyebrows at not seeing the black coins in a pouch, but he said nothing as Yulong entered the city. Usually, they would question him, but they needed all the money they could get, especially since the calamity was drawing near.

The outer city was poor, with square buildings squeezed in together like an unsliced loaf of bread. Stalls were scattered throughout, as it was obvious everyone here was poor.

"Buy Onions!"

"Get your fresh bananas! Only two Ying for each!"

"Two Ying? Ah... That's a bit much..."

Yulong lingered here, looking around. The poor places were the places that always had a secret; which was why Yulong was looking around for an interesting place that could house a hidden quest.

Yulong actually didn't explore Sky City before, hence why he didn't actually know his way around this poor city, but he walked with the crowd until he found a man selling and buying random items.

Yulong approached the man.

"I buy and sell nick-nacks around my store. You want to buy or sell?"

"Sell," Yulong said, before dropping his 20 beast cores into his palm.

"Straight to the point I see. Well, I'll buy these for 40 Ying." The man said. Yulong took the pouch the man handed him and headed off.

'Well, I should find a place to stay since I'll be here for a few days.' Yulong thought, before heading deeper into the city.

With a name like Sky City, one would expect to see a city in the skies. But this city was just an extension of the heavenly city.

Finally, Yulong came across a nice inn.

He opened the door, registering for the best room that was still relatively cheap.

Yulong then fell on the bed, before opening the options tab and logging out...
