"It is more important to me that you are well."
It echoed in every corner of my brain. I can't think of anything but this. The horse kicked my heart. Seriously... That was really banging. I don't know whether to smile or cry at what he said.
He kept putting a cold compress on my knee.
"You can't wear shorts anymore." He grinned and looked at me.
I frowned at his grin.
"Wait, are you glad I tripped?"
He shook his head and still didn't remove his grin.
"Don't you want me to wear shorts?" I asked as I slowly realized this
"Hot compress after?" He ignored my question and turned to the nurse.
"Yes, Mr. Elizalde"
I looked at the nurse. The Elizaldes are really well known so I won't be surprised how the nurse found out Noah's last name. Also, Noah's band is also popular here.
He took the hot compress. He wiped my knee first before putting it on.
"It doesn't mean that if you have nice legs you have to show them to everyone, Coreen. Sometimes, it's better if you hide it."
I nodded and grinned even more.
Let it go, Noah. I'll put on pants tomorrow! If you want, I'll wrap my whole body so no one can see. And did you hear that? He said my legs are beautiful! I'm smirking while watching him seriously apply a hot compress.
In the middle of applying the hot compress, his phone rang. He glanced at me and took his phone from his pocket.
I held the hotcompress so that he could answer his phone properly. That's why I also held his hand. We both looked at each other for a moment before he let go and turned to answer his phone.
"Hello, Warren?" I heard him walk away from me.
I want to know what they are talking about but his voice is too low. When he was about to finish, I heard his instructions to Warren.
"No longer. Please just tell them that I have something important to attend to. Go home first. Thank you."
He put down his phone and turned to me. My cheeks warmed up. The intensity of his gaze was really heavy. Sometimes, I couldn't look at him while he was staring right back at me.
"I'll bring you home." He said.
"H-Huh?" I swallowed.
Grace only visited my life once but it was too much. He looked away. It was as if he was embarrassed by inviting me. No, Noah. Don't be ashamed.
"Alright... I'll just fix my things." I said.
"You don't have class anymore?"
I was stunned by his question. I have two more classes. But I can sacrifice you for this once in a lifetime opportunity.
"None." I lied.
He nodded and looked at my knee.
"Well, then, I'll take you home. That is if you don't want me to carry you from one of your classes to another." He chuckled and turned away from me to call the nurse.
My jaw dropped at what he said. I-I-I think I'd rather just go to my class and have him carry me? OH MY FVCKING GOD!!!
"Is she okay?" Noah asked the nurse.
"It's okay now. Just the hot compress, repeat it even at home to make it disappear more easily."
Noah nodded to the nurse and turned to me.
"Can you walk now?"
I can walk. But because I want him to support me... of course... I winced and...
"I guess not yet."
He nodded and extended his hand.
I even wiped my hand on my shirt before putting it in his hand.
"Let's go, Coreen." He pulled me and held me by the waist.
I immediately felt a strange electricity when he held me. The kind I have never experienced with anyone. He turned to me.
"Can you do it?" he asked.
"Maybe" I bit my lip because I couldn't stop smiling.
So there he is, supporting me to his car. I'm really lucky. He picked me up earlier, now he is supporting me, then he will take me home.
"Hey, Noah!" His classmate said when he met us.
Noah avoided looking at me and just grinned at his classmate.
My cheeks warmed up. Now that someone noticed the two of us, almost everyone turned.
"What happened to you, Coreen?" asked an acquaintance of mine.
"Ahm... I accidentally slipped."
"Is that so? Where?" He stared at my knees.
"In..."
I was shocked because, Noah is walking fast.
"At the Loyola Hall-" He didn't hear me anymore because we were too far away.
I glanced at Noah who now seemed to lose his mood. He let go of my waist and pressed the alarm of his car.
"W- What?" I was shocked again by his sudden change of mood.
Instead the breaking my heart because I saw the anger in his eyes, my heart cheered. I called all the saints and thanked them because of what Noah did. He's over protective!
"Huh? He was looking at my knee."
"No... He's looking at your legs." He sighed and opened the door of his car.
BMW X5, Color White. His car is perfect for him. Simple. Mysterious.
"Get in." He gestured to the inside of the car.
I went inside. It was my first time to get inside his car. I was very happy especially when I saw him turn around to ride too. I can not believe. The Lord really has a time for everything. I've been looking forward to it, but it just arrived. It's okay even though I waited and was hurt before, as long as now there is this moment.
He drove quietly. As for me, my mind is fixed on what we can make into a topic. But in the middle of my thoughts, he spoke.
"Coreen..."
I jumped suddenly and turned to him.
"Hmmm?"
"About what happened... when we were in high school."
"Why?" Now my heart was pounding.
He didn't forget that.
"I'm sorry for what I said before." He said
Did he apologize? Does that mean he regrets it? Has he changed his mind about me?
"It's OK. I understand." I said.
He was silent. I did not speak.
"Where is your house?" He asked as we entered our subdivision.
He knows where I live. But he did not know which house in this village. I showed him the way but the only thing in my mind was what we talked about earlier. Is he sorry?
"Just here." I said and immediately closed my mouth tightly.
Is this an opportunity? What if after this he doesn't pay attention to me again? What? My heart was beating fast as I decided on my next move
He turned to me as his eyebrows met.
"Noah..." I swallowed my nervousness.
I put aside my pride and my doubts. I just don't want to waste this opportunity. This moment. I hope he just drives all day and we don't even get home. I think I will enjoyed it even more... And I wish I hadn't come to this decision.
"Have you changed your mind about me?"
"I still like you, you know, nothing has changed." My voice got smaller as I said this.
He opened his mouth to speak but did not continue.
"Until now... How many years have passed, right? We are not children anymore."
I was almost deaf with the force of my heartbeat. He brought himself closer to me. My eyes widened. Will he kiss me? I almost had a heart attack because of what he did. I'm looking forward to closing my eyes.
"The answer is still no, Coreen. Still no..."
