The second testing area was entirely different from the first. While the first was indoors and more of a classroom setting, the second was outside in a giant forest. In the clearing just outside the forest an instructor was letting his group know how this test would work.
"This is a simple game of capture the flag, there's two teams in the forest each team with a flag, the goal of the game is to place the enemies flag besides your flag back at your base. There will be a time limit of one hour, and if neither of you succeed you both fail. Everything is allowed but murder, the moment the spectators feel your life is in danger they will step in to save you and you will automatically be disqualified. Fight well, plan smart, and good luck team." As the instructor finished saying these words a bright light flashed across the field. As the light faded the team found themselves on a wooden platform with a blue flag standing dead center.
Fae looked around trying to gain his bearings after his vison was just assaulted with light. When his vison came back into focus he was in a giant forest surrounded on all sides by trees, he was on a wooden platform that was built between two trees and was about 20 feet long and 15 feet wide with a blue flag sitting center. He looked at the other people on the platform and realized he recognized two of them.
They were Peter and Ling Xao, the first and second place in Fae's first test. The other three people Fae wasn't familiar with but they seemed to know each other, leading Fae to believe they took separate testing groups from the first test and shoved them together.
"Alright any strategies?" Peter asked trying to get everyone on the same page. "I don't need any strategy, I'll handle this all myself. A man from the group that Fae didn't know spoke out. He was short, only standing 5'6 but he had a very burly and masculine build. "That wouldn't be wise." Ling Xao stepped in trying to calm the man down. "You think you can do any better? What can weaklings like you do in comparison to me. I'm Rex Openx"
As soon as Rex said this Fae realized why he was being so arrogant, he was a noble. Nobles were notorious for their arrogance and belief that they were superior to everyone else. "You can do this Rex don't listen to these weaklings." A girl from Rex's group said as she rubbed her hand along Rex's arm. "Than what're you going to do oh great Rex?" Peter asked sarcastically He didn't have time to deal with the arrogance of nobles, he just wanted to pass the exam.
"Simple I'll go get their flag myself." Rex said as he jumped from the tree and dashed north towards where he believed the enemy flag should be. After about 3 minutes a scream was heard throughout the forest and everyone on Fae's team recognized it. Rex.
After about 2 minutes of Fae and his group staring around wondering what just happened they heard a noise and all turned to see a group of 6 charging at them. The enemy team had used the direction Rex came from to find the position of the rest of Fae's team. "Guard the flag!" Ling Xao screamed out as he ran towards the flag.
As the enemy team jumped down everyone broke into different one on one fights, but because of Rex being eliminated Ling Xao had the difficult task of fighting 2 people at once.
Fae tried to get to Ling Xao and offer assistance but before he could his opponent jumped in front of him. The man he was facing was about the same height as Fae but with a lean and almost scrawny build. He punched towards Fae with a quick jab the speed of the attack throwing Fae off guard.
Fae used the Frost Warrior bloodline to summon a shield and block the attack from hitting him, this was Fae's first time really using his new bloodline but it somehow felt so natural. He flung his ice shield towards his opponents face and ducked below him sending a right hook towards the mans rib. He was able to dodge the shield but Fae was simply too fast for the man to avoid both the shield and the jab. *CRACK* Fae could hear the sound of his enemies rib cracking under the pressure of his fist. At this point Fae's physical strength was closer to that of a Human rank 6 Mythic and in front of the Human rank 3 in front of him, his power was absolute.
Fae followed up his punch with a side kick to the stomach effectively incapacitating his opponent and causing a spectator to come pull him out of the fight. Fae had the biggest smile plastered on his face at this, he loved fights like this cause they showed him he was truly becoming stronger, and maybe one day he'd become strong enough to stand beside Tessa.
A loud yell broke Fae out of his thoughts as he turned to see Ling Xao struggling against his two opponents. There was two things Fae could do right now, he could go get the enemy teams flag since no one was there to guard it, or he could help Ling Xao. Fae's mind was running rampant with pros and cons but as Ling Xao was met with a kick to the rib Fae knew what he needed to do.
Fae ran across the platform towards Ling Xao jumping up and throwing a sword towards one of the men fighting Ling Xao, stabbing into his back. Fae continued by pulling the sword out of his back and slashing it across his chest, taking out another opponent.
Ling Xao turned to look at Fae with a serious look. "Thank you, Effy." Ling Xao spoke, but instead of staying to take the praise Fae dashed away sprinting full speed towards the enemy base. Fae took full advantage of his new found strength and speed leaping from tree to tree and dashing across their surfaces. Eventually Fae made it to their base and took their flag into his hands.
Once he got it he dashed back towards his team's base and placed the enemy flag beside his, ending the match of capture the flag.
After a few minutes the instructor showed up. "Congratulations on winning, all of you will move onto the next test tomorrow, for now everyone just relax and explore the surrounding areas."
