Cassidy stepped into a room that had a loose lock.
She coughed a few times and pulled the cobwebs that hung across her face with her hands.
She had walked into the room after having a bath.
Surprisingly, the room had clothes in its wardrobe.
It seemed like someone lived there, or used to live there.
She had been feeling uncomfortable as her body itched her.
And when she came out of the bathroom, she found a few clothes in the wardrobe.
All the clothes looked so beautiful and choosing one to wear seemed difficult. She finally settled for a purple, sleeveless gown that had a thick sash. The gown had uneven ends which gave it a royal look.
" Anyone here?" she called while she covered her nose and mouth with both hands.
The dust was beginning to irritate her nostrils and she found herself sneezing endlessly.
She groped on the floor in the darkness until she fumbled upon something.
She pulled it and found out that it was a torch.
She turned it on and flashed it across the dusty room.
The room was empty except for an old, cranky, wooden chair, and she could even hear her own quick heartbeat.
Her lips curled up in amusement when she saw an old, dusty doll on the floor.
" .... seems like a child has been here," she said to herself.
Wandering through the room, it felt like something was watching.
She looked at the inner door incredulously as if something outrageous was there.
She stiffened when she heard water gush and gurgle over something. Cassidy breathed heavily but rapidly.
She had held her breath unconsciously.
" Who's there?"
She stared at the door in a catatonic stupor.
" Who are you?" a hoarse voice questioned.
Cassidy turned around swiftly.
She was certain someone spoke, and it was a man's voice.
She flashed the light immediately but there was nothing there.
Indistinct chattering followed.
Giggles and cackles followed too.
Cassidy swallowed a lump in her throat and dug her nails into her palms.
She suddenly turned her face from the bitting wind that seemed to invade the room.
Her gaze grew wider when she saw something being inscribed on the wall. The air turned black around her when she didn't see anyone write it.
" It's far from what you think," she read out loud.
" Who are you?" she asked back, and trying to mask her fears that has become visible, she thrusted her left hand behind.
Icy fingers gripped her arm in the darkness and she quickly flashed the torch beside her but she didn't see anyone.
" Mother, I can touch her!"
Cassidy heard the voice of a little girl child exclaim.
The child's voice had an uncontrollable giggle in it as she cheered.
" It feels good to finally touch things."
" Are you sure?" another voice asked.
The voice seemed to be that of a male.
" Yes, I am.
" Why don't you give it a try?"
Cassidy felt another hand take over her arm.
She stood rigid with terror - too overwhelmed to move, when she felt that she saw something.
She flashed the light again and it caught her attention.
The dusty, old doll now looked scary with few mutations on its face ( things that weren't there when she had seen it.)
The scary doll hovered inexplicably in the air and its body was locked into position.
Its head rotated in a way that it could see everything and it made creaky sounds.
Its black pupils shook violently.
Cassidy's body became impossibly still and her eyes teary.
She felt the torch slip out of her clammy, sweaty hands that trembled. Her quivering body notified her immediately.
It was a fight or flight situation.
Who would even choose to fight?
....not somebody like her who was lost in a place where things were different - a place where it seemed like ghosts existed.... she was currently lost in a world of fantasy.
It could be one of those her nightmares but when a pinch hurt her hard, she knew it was really far from what she was thinking.
She needed to find her way out and go back to her husband and family.
This place wasn't for her.
" Lily was a little girl," it began, and it's menacing sinister sent unease down Cassidy's spine.
" Afraid of the big, wide world.
" She grew up within her castle walls. Now and then she tried to run, and on the night with the setting sun she went in the woods away, all alone. They warned her " don't go there". There are creatures who are hiding in the dark."
Crunching hit Cassidy's ears, and pushing through the incessant thudding of her heart in her ribcage, she stared wide-eyed when the scary, old doll came creeping.
" Don't you worry, just follow everywhere I go....top over the mountains or valley low. I'll give you everything you've been dreaming of, just let me in. Everything you want in gold, I'll be the magic story you've been told... and you'll be safe under my control."
Cassidy slowly felt herself lose every consciousness in her being.
It seemed like her being was overpowered by a more powerful being. It controlled every muscle in her pale body.
This time, her body lacked brightness and light; she has become a shadow of her former self.
She let out a malicious laugh which reverberated in the empty room.
The roof shook violently.
Cassidy squeezed and pulled her arms with greater strength and the torch fell on the floor and bounced away.
She has become a monster which inflicted injury on herself. The stab of pain didn't even affect her as she let out a sinister.
Those beautiful blue eyes suddenly became dark with a touch of possession.
Cassidy bolted out of the dark room violently while she walked lightly.
