Chapter 10 - Chapter Ten

Alexia was on her last day of detention, and was leaving for the salon where she worked, she inspected her nails, and reaches over to the desk to get her keys, when Julia's cell phone rings, she shouts for the house but no one was there.

She then picks up the cell phone on the table and answers the unknown number.

— Hello, Julia's cell phone! — She says still looking at her fingernails, a cuticle was annoying her, she speaks again, the line is silent and there is no answer so she hangs up.

She leaves the cell phone on the table, goes to the restaurant, and waves to her mother who was in the dentre sweeping the restaurant.

— Mom, your cell phone rang, I answered but no one answered, it must have been a mistake, it was an Italian area code.

Julia turns pale and says aggressively: "Alexia, don't you have anything else to do, my daughter? You don't have to go to work, for example!

— Our mother, you don't have to be so rude to her. — Cibele says approaching the two, her eyes narrowed by the sun,

— Ah the daisy appeared, and where were you all morning? — Julia says holding firmly to the broom, then passes to Cybele, her eyes burned with anger and her skin burned by the hot sun that was on them.

— I had morning sickness, I stayed in bed all day, Giagia said. I wonder what's gotten into you? — She says with a frown, picking up her broom, then yawns and puts her hand over her mouth.

Alexia says good-bye and Cybele starts sweeping, when screams are heard from inside their house in front of the restaurant.

Atena, who was doing her handicrafts in front of the restaurant, and Cybele then go running there and it was only Tereza cutting Iris' hair, but not with her will.

— Please take the scissors out of their hands. — Iris pleaded as she saw her long, full hair being cut.

— Don't come near me, this is for her to learn, I didn't raise a thieving daughter or cheat on her, — Tereza says twisting her face, while cutting her daughter's hair.

— Auntie, auntie, that's enough, I think she's already learned. No need.

Atena holds back her laughter and Iris starts to cry non-stop, as she stays intact on the couch trying not to move, she knows that the cut would come out horribly dreadful if she moved.

— Okay, it's done. — Tereza says putting her palms together, and leaves.

Cybele approaches her and sits next to her cousin on the sofa lined with a pink cape.

— You must be happy now. — Iris stands up picking up the strands of blonde hair from the floor.

— Of course not, it's a tradition I won't do with my children, trust me. — She replied with frowning eyes. — And don't worry, your hair is still long.

Iris sits back down on the sofa, and looks up at the ceiling. — Yeah, she came up from behind, and out of nowhere she scissored it, I must look terrible! — She puts a pillow over her face, and then takes it off.

— No way, you can't look ugly. — Cybele says leaning back more on the couch

— Why are you being so nice to me? — Iris asks, mouth twisting as she pushes her hair away from her face.

— Because I know you, Iris, let's face it, I really know you, and the person who stole my drawings was not the Iris I know. — she takes his hand, and smiles.

— I want to go back to the way we were before, but at the same time I think about going far away, I am so ashamed, and what I did to Apollo, going there like that, sorry cousin I ... — He said, moving away a little, and bowing his head.

— Hey no need to go far away, not least because I need all the aunts possible to take care of Bernardo ... — She giggles, and looks at her belly, swinging her legs.

— Bernardo? — She opens her mouth, looks at her belly, and puts her hands on her belly. — Have you chosen a name?

— Yes, well I hope Pietro likes it, and if it's a girl it'll be Angelina, but it's a boy I feel, you know. — She takes a breath of air and plays with her earring.

— Wow, I never thought about you mom, this year, and an Italian, I know how your mother hates these people," she smiles.

— My mom is crazy! You know her superstitions. — She rolls her eyes, -who knew I'd have a son who wasn't Apollo's? — Cybele says with a faraway look on her face, her speech making her sad.

— It's true, well, I'm going upstairs, I need to fix this hair and wipe my tears. — She pats her cousin on the shoulder. — Thanks again, if you hadn't asked her to stop I'd probably be bald by now, her lips pressed together.

— You're welcome. Oh, Iris, before you go, about Apollo, I want you to know that it's okay, I'm really okay, you should try, if that's what you want. — She said with her hand in her ear, playing with her earring, "Maybe it won't work out.

Iris smiled and climbed the stairs to her room.

It's already night when Cybele comes down the stairs in a tight black dress and thin red heels.

It is evening when Cybele comes downstairs in a tight black dress and thin red heels. Her grandmother looks away from her novel, and stares at her from head to toe.

— You look beautiful! — She brings her hands to her cheeks, then goes to hug her. —Sense, em!

— Of course Giagia, I always have, she gives a little wink, and brings her hand to the back of her neck.

Her grandmother adjusts her dress, lowering it, she giggles.

— Giagia, we're just friends, nothing will happen! I'll be home soon.

- I don't understand this concept of "friends" nowadays. You are going to have a child together.

She kisses her cheek, - Blessing! Her grandmother gives her a kiss and kisses her forehead.

Agnes smiles, watching Cybele walk out the door. She then leaves the house and goes to the restaurant.
