Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

The Darkman-

A person with amythyst eyes that can see into your past. They have the ability to see your deepest desires and form themselves into whoever you wish. They have a true form, their illusion forms, and their shadow forms. They only use their shadow forms when they want to conceal their identity or to make a quick getaway. Their shadow form is their most powerful form while their true form is their weakest. When there is a new moon is when they are most powerful. When the sun is out is when it takes all of their strength to keep their illusion forms. Beware. These creatures are extremely dangerous and unpredictable.

Lucy then closed her book and headed for the library to return them. On the way there she bumped into someone. She fell backwards and hit the ground.

"I'm so sorry," said the man.

"No, no, it's my fault."

"Let me help you up."

He extended a hand and helped her up.

"I'm Owen by the way."

"Lucy. You're the new kid right?"

"That's me."

"Well it was nice meeting you but I have to get going now."

"Oh, okay. It was nice meeting you."

"Nice meeting you too."

Lucy continued on her way to the library. When she got there she ran into her favorite librarian.

"Hey there Lucy," he smiled.

"Hey Mr. Perry! How've you been?"

"Pretty good, grandkids are in town and we're heading to the shoreline tomorrow."

"Nice!"

"Can I take those for you?"

"Oh, thanks."

"No problem. I'll see ya later kiddo."

"See ya Mr. Perry. Hope you and the kids have fun tomorrow."

"We will."

Lucy found a nice secluded area in the back of the library to read. She had brought her own book this time. It was a romance novel about a witch and a werewolf. The witch was cast out by her coven and the werewolf from his pack. They were both outcasts but when they were together, that didn't matter to them.

I wish I could have a love like that.

Lucy picked up where she had left off. She was still only in chapter 3 and the witch had just been outcasted by her coven. As Lucy was reading, she felt someone behind her. She turned around but no one was there. The feeling didn't go away so after a while she went back home.

She decided to go and read some more in the woods behind her house. Lucy had a special spot she had made with her dad when she was 12. It was a little hut made from wood and painted camouflage to hide it from the wildlife. It had a small door and just enough room for her to stand up. There was a small bench and next to it was a little bookshelf filled with her favorite childhood stories. There was even a framed picture of her mom hung up on the wall. There a blanket because it was mostly cold all year round. Lucy got comfortable on the bench and pulled back out her book.

Her eyes got heavy after a while and she ended up falling asleep. She was already asleep when the door creaked open. The shadowy figure from before walked up to her and kneeled down at her side. He brushed a stray piece of hair behind her ear. He watched as her breathing was slow and her facial expression was calm. He felt so lucky to be able to look at her so close up. He's wanted Lucy ever since the moment he first laid eyes on her.

"Oh how beautiful you are. I wish we could just fly away from here and never have to look back. You are so graceful and elegant. I don't want to force you but it's getting much harder to control myself when I'm around you." He sighed. "The things you do to me Lucy.."

He kissed her gently on the forehead and dispersed himself right as she woke up. Lucy turned to look over at the door. It was open.

Did an animal do this? How'd they even open the door?

She looked around to see if there was any wildlife running around and she didn't see any. She shrugged it off and headed back home. It was a little past lunch time and Lucy hadn't eaten anything since last night. She grabbed a snack and sat down in front of the TV.

A few minutes later, Lucy heard a knock at her front door.

Who could it be? I don't remember inviting anyone over.

She opened the door to see her best friend Sarah.

"Sarah? What are you doing here?"

"I thought we cold have a sleepover tonight," she smiled.

"Sounds good, but a little heads up next time."

"My bad."

Sarah had a backpack full of snacks and another just for clothes.

"I thought we could order pizza and watch a horror movie?"

"Sure, just let me ask my dad."

Lucy sent her dad a text asking if Sarah could spend the night and if they could order pizza for dinner. He said that was fine. He normally worked late Saturday nights so Sarah slept over most on Saturdays.

It grew dark after a while and Lucy and Sarah got ready for their horror movie marathon.

"What kind of pizza do you want," Lucy asked Sarah.

"Anything is fine."

"Pepporoni it is. Any garlic bread?"

"Hell yeah!"

Lucy placed the order and it was scheduled to be there around 7:30. Sarah picked out the first movie. She picked out A Nightmare On Elm Street.

"This movie isn't scary," Lucy complained.

"Shush!"

Sarah was sitting on the edge of the couch and Lucy couldn't help but giggle.

"What's so funny!"

"Nothing."

A few minutes later the pizza arrived and they immediately choked down. Lucy picked out Child's Play. It was her favorite horror movie and got her everything with the jumpscares.

During a very suspenseful part in the movie, they heard a rattling sound come from the basement. They both jumped.

"W-what was that?"
