Lucy saw Aaron on her walk to school that morning.
"Hey Aaron."
"Oh. Hey Lucy."
"Are you a Darkman?"
"A what?"
"A Darkman."
She stared him dead in the eyes, intent on getting an answer.
"W-well, I-I.. l-look. We're here."
Lucy tried to speak but he had run off towards Sarah.
Why is he avoiding the question? It's a simple yes or no. Could he really be a Darkman?
Lucy's thoughts wandered until she saw Aaron look back at her. He ran towards her and brought her to where Sarah was. Little did Lucy know, Owen and Felix were approaching from behind her. They weren't happy that Aaron had stepped in and pulled her away.
"What was all that about Aaron," Lucy asked.
"I just didn't want you to walk by yourself," he said nervously.
"Well aren't you two just a couple of lovebirds."
Both of their faces went red.
Lucy chased after Sarah, while Aaron stood there and giggled.
Lucy asked her first period teacher if she could change seats to be away from Owen, but the teacher denied her request. Whenever they did experiments, Owen was Lucy's lab partner. They stared the same workbench so underneath the table, Owen would put his hand on her thigh. Lucy couldn't do anything about it without causing a scene so she tried her best to always make it through first period. Aaron would always wait for her outside of class, which also helped keep Owen and Felix away.
Lunch was always a blast. Lucy, Sarah, and Aaron would always find something to talk about. Of course there was the occasional teasing from Sarah though.
Lucy was still determined find out who the Darkman was that had been visiting her. She asked everyone she knew they all gave the same answer, 'what's a Darkman?'
Lucy sighed.
Why can't he just tell me who he is? Trying to figure it out is exhausting.
There was a knock on her bedroom door.
"Come in."
It was Aaron.
"Your dad let me in," he said nervously.
His face went red as he entered the room. Lucy looked at him confused. She looked down to see she was only in a sports bra and short shorts. Her face then went red as well.
"T-turn around!"
"S-sorry."
He whipped around as Lucy quickly got up and put on a rolling stones t-shirt and some black shorts.
"O-okay.. y-you can turn around now.."
"Sorry.."
"No no, it was my fault. I should've realized what I was wearing."
"You looked really cute though," Aaron muttered.
"Hm?"
"N-nothing."
"If you say so. So whatcha doing here?"
"I just wanted to say hi and ask if we could hang out today or tomorrow?"
"Sure. Let me text Sarah-"
"Actually.. I wanted it to just be the two of us.."
"O-okay. Today works fine if you wanna head out now?"
"Sure."
"Let me just go grab my jacket-"
"This jacket," Aaron said holding up a black jacket he found hanging up on the door.
"That's the one."
"Let's get going then."
Aaron took Lucy to the park. There was a little playground and Lucy begged Aaron to go on the swings with her. He agreed. Aaron liked admiring the big grin on Lucy's face as she went back and forth on the swing. She slowed down a bit.
"Aren't you gonna swing," she asked.
"Nah, I like watching you."
Lucy blushed.
"Lucy?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm.. I'm a Darkman."
"I knew it! You never answered my questions completely! Wait- are you the one that I've been seeing?"
He nodded.
"That's so cool! So how does it work exactly? Are you in your true form or pretend form right now?"
"Pretend form.."
"Can I see your true form?"
"That's a little risky right now. Maybe another time?"
"Okay," Lucy smiled.
I finally found the Darkman that I've been interacting with! This is so exciting! Why didn't Aaron tell me before? He must've had a reason.
"Let's get going. I have one more thing for us to do," Aaron said with a sweet smile.
"Okay."
Aaron reached for Lucy's hand but she ran ahead before he could make contact.
"C'mon slow poke."
"You don't even know where we're going."
"Then show me."
The sun was setting behind her. Aaron couldn't help but stand there and stare. Her bright smile and the rays coming from behind her hair. A small blush creeped onto his face.
"Aaron!"
Lucy tackled him in his daze. They both fell to the ground. Lucy giggled and Aaron just stared at her.
"You okay?"
"W-what? Y-yeah."
Lucy put her face in his. "Are you sure?"
"Y-yes."
"Alrighty then-"
Aaron wrapped his arms around her.
"A-Aaron, I need to get up."
"No you don't."
Lucy went pink.
"Lucy.. what do you think of me now that you know I'm a Darkman?"
"Well.. I don't really like you anymore and I really hope we stop talking after this."
"Oh."
"I'm just kidding! I love that you're a Darkman! It's so much fun knowing I'm friends with a supernatural being," she smiled.
"Really?"
"Of course."
"Alright, you can get up now."
Lucy popped up off the ground and helped Aaron up. Aaron led her to an ice cream parlor. They sat down at a table and ordered some ice cream.
"So. You have to tell me. What was today all about," Lucy asked.
"That's a secret."
"That's no fair."
They chatted for a bit longer, talking about school and what they did today. The ice cream came a little later. They continued chatting as they ate. Once they finished, Aaron walked her home. Aaron seemed a little on edge as they were walking. He kept looking over his shoulder.
"Everything okay Aaron?"
"Yeah."
He grabbed Lucy's hand. Lucy didn't resist. His hand was soft but his grip was somewhat tight, like he was worried about something. Lucy tried to reassure him with her own hands and his grip lessened. When they got to Lucy's house, Aaron gently released her hand. Lucy wanted the walk to last a little longer but knew it couldn't. They said their goodbyes and Lucy went up to her room to get ready for bed.
"You can come out now," Aaron said once Lucy was inside.
