CHAPTER FIFTEEN – A MYSTERY DREAM OR A PROPHETIC MEMORY?
***DREAM***
Blood.
A gruesome battlefield welcomed to Laurence's sight.
The former assassin is not ignorant of these kinds of scenarios that he is seeing as of the moment.
Swords clashing with one another, a never ever ending shouts from these people as they keep on charging to their enemies even though they are mostly like battered or injured because of the fight.
'What in the actual f*ck…'
Laurence seems like he is walking in the middle of the war, like a lost lamb midst of chaos.
It seems like the soldiers within the battlefield didn't see or feel Laurence's presence at all, and they just passed by him that got him bewildered upon seeing the situation in front of him.
'Just what is this? Where am I? The last time I remember is that I lost consciousness the moment my head hurts, like they're scattering into pieces for some f*cking reason!'
He looked around and observe the situation on the battlefield.
These soldiers who wear black armor charges once again on the battlefield and he saw the other army from the opposite side engage in a battle against these black armored soldiers.
As the battle continues, it had taken countless lives in just a mere second.
Laurence didn't flinch at the sight of a gruesome battlefield in front of him.
Why should he be afraid? He was an assassin from his previous life, and these kinds of scenarios were nothing to him.
For as long as he could remember, the former assassin had long disregarded human emotions, and it's a norm for him to see these kinds of bloodshed like an everyday occurrence for him.
As he stood in the middle of the battlefield as a spectator, there was someone had caught Laurence's attention.
In the midst of the gruesome bloodshed, a golden-armored person who only spectates the battle and the crimson sword on that person's side only stays on its hilt.
'Meaning… this person is just a spectator as well but…'
Laurence couldn't pinpoint what he was thinking about as he observed that golden-armored person who only stayed in one place while countless soldiers fight to their deaths.
Also, the former assassin didn't have a clue on what's going on and didn't even know on how he ended up here.
'It feels like my consciousness had trip into another dimension or something, just like what the original Laurence told me about when we were still in that space thingy or something.'
He might have some little knowledge of the world he transmigrated into, thanks to the original Laurence's information with his past-future memories that he inherited.
However, the former assassin still couldn't believe that he was now living in some sort of fantasy world where he could only read this as a fiction novel back to his original world.
Seeing that he won't find answers from everywhere around him, with no other choice left, he walked towards at the direction where the golden-armored person was situated.
'I couldn't guess if this person is a man or a woman because of the armor that this person wearing but judging this person's aura…
His thoughts were cut off when he saw the golden-armored person took off its helmet and Laurence went stiff as he saw the glowing familiar symbol from that person's forehead.
'What in the…'
The former assassin still couldn't see the person's appearance because of the fog from the battlefield, but even though he was not too far away from that person, Laurence caught a glimpse of the person's familiar symbol.
Just like the symbol that appeared on his forehead before he passed out.
'Does this mean… this person and the original Laurence had a connection or something?'
He frowns for a bit, trying to remember something.
Laurence gasped as realization hits him; 'W-wait a second! I don't remember seeing that symbol from the original Laurence's memory!'
The former assassin became anxious as he noticed this slight detail that he got from the original Laurence's memory.
'Just what in the world…'
«….. "Remember the PAST…" …. »
Laurence; "!!!"
A sudden voice that got him startled and went to look around to find the source of that voice.
'Am I hallucinating or something?'
«….. "Finalize everything in the PRESENT and prepared for the worst FUTURE…." …. »
'Damn it! Just who the f*cking hell was it?!'
It pissed Laurence off at the moment because he had let his guard down and he couldn't help but to remember the betrayal that he felt from his previous life.
'It makes me sick to think that I just arrived in this f*cking world and now I f*cked up for f*cking real! Argh!'
As he tried to calm himself and not let his emotions to go haywire, the former assassin felt that someone was looking in his direction.
It doesn't hold malice for what he thinks, but even if that is the case, he doesn't want to be caught off guard like before.
The former assassin followed his instincts and his eyes landed on that golden-armored person not too far away from where he stood.
«…. "Remember your CODE. Your DESTINY. Your IDENTITY" ... »
He frowns; 'Is that… coming from that person's voice? Is that person pertaining to me? Or the original one?'
Before he could think any further, the former assassin noticed that sharp gaze from that person in his direction, which makes him startled suddenly.
'Huh? Don't tell me… that person can see me?!'
With that thought, the surroundings had changed its scenery and in a blink of an eye, the gruesome battlefield from before had nowhere to be seen and what welcomes him is a familiar yet unfamiliar setting this time.
'This place… it looks like a throne room.'
However, instead of a luxurious, elegant and warm atmosphere, the throne room is now filled with nothing but disarray.
'I don't need to ask someone for what happens here because it's already obvious in the eyes of other people of the events that take place here.'
Laurence didn't know for how long he has been unconscious, and it seems like someone was preventing him from waking up from this dream-like illusion.
«…. "The seal has not yet broken, however…" …. »
The former assassin became alerted as he looked at the center of the ruined throne room, where that familiar voice came from.
'It's from that time! Just what the f*cking hell those words mean?!'
At the center of the ruin throne room, there is someone who seated on the throne even though it's already nothing but shambles, but that person doesn't seem to mind it.
"Who are you?! Are you the one who's keeping me unconscious?! Answer me!"
'I couldn't make a careless move and it seems like this person is not an ordinary one.'
The former assassin couldn't see the appearance of the person on the throne, but he noticed the familiar glowing mark on its forehead.
He gasped as he recognized the person on the throne; 'That person—! The one wearing a golden armor from the battlefield earlier!'
The person on the throne didn't make any move, but Laurence wouldn't want to get surprised again and he wasn't sure if he would win if a fight escalated.
Before he could prepare himself, the person on the throne suddenly disappeared, and that makes him became alerted as his eyes roam around of any sudden attack.
«….. "When the time comes… You'll know what's the next course of action…. ——n" …. »
The former assassin was startled by shock when he heard those last words and before he could ask, his eyes got blurry that leads him to lost consciousness… once again….
