CHAPTER TWENTY – AN INCIDENT NEVER HAPPEN
*******
For Chester, he didn't know how to handle the Crown Prince's attitude if it's related to the Fifth Prince that he is protecting like a mother hen should do.
'Well, it's understandable that Eugene would protect the timid Fifth Prince since he had a close bond with him as a sibling compared to the others.'
Not just that, there are rumors from before that the Crown Prince treated the late Fifth concubine Lady Hanezza as his second mother and he would often visit their palace to have a bonding time with the pair of mother-and-son.
However, when the news came out about Lady Hanezza's sudden death, the Crown Prince took the mantle to take care of everything since the King wouldn't bother about what happen to the late Fifth concubine.
At that time, Chester wanted to attend the funeral back then, but the Crown Prince warn him not to go and he understood without the Crown Prince explaining to him.
Him, being present at the funeral ceremony of an unfavored concubine of the King, will bring himself into trouble even though Chester didn't mind that at all.
But he didn't want to make the Fifth Prince's life to be put under pressure because of him.
The other royal siblings will target the Fifth Prince even though he won't stand a chance of taking part in the battle of succession to the throne.
He is most likely cast out from the succession battle because of his inability to have a magic affinity and labelled as a wastrel ever since his awakening ceremony.
The Fifth Prince doesn't have any valuable asset on his palms since the late Fifth concubine Lady Hanezza is just a commoner woman who the King took fancy upon accidentally meeting her.
No one knows about the deceased Lady Hanezza's origins except for her unique magic affinity that is to be considered the rarest that appeared within the millennium years in history.
That's why when the Fifth Prince was born, they thought he will also possess an incredible power just like her mother, but it turns out that is not the case.
As much as he wanted to warn the Crown Prince for giving too much attention to the Fifth Prince, but he already seen how capable the Crown Prince when handling things that are related to the Fifth Prince.
'As if Eugene can see the future ahead of him. Which would be ridiculous to think about it.'
The perfect example that Chester remember is that when a certain low-rank noble tried to humiliate the Fifth Prince one time back at the royal banquet, after learning what happen, the Crown Prince immediately seize an order to detain the said noble to be interrogated.
Which cause a great disturbance from that time and the others didn't know what the Crown Prince was thinking about as he issued an order.
The King didn't stop the Crown Prince as he only watches on the sidelines as if observing on how the Crown Prince could handle such a case.
Others would think that the Crown Prince is abusing his authority for just a mere trash prince who had no future, but the Crown Prince silences them with a few sentences;
««… 'Trash or not, my brother is still a member of the Truman Royal family and not just that, some of you had the nerve to mock him in front of us, especially to His Majesty, the King. Is this the sign of a rebellion?' … »»
His words, firm yet calm as he looked down on the nobles without a shred of fear speaking on his own accord.
'Just remembering that one incident had imprinted on the minds within the nobles about that matter and from then on, no one had dared to mock the Fifth Prince in public or in front of the royal family. Even though there are some who tried to talk behind his back then…'
Chester just shrug it off as he followed the Crown Prince who just left him, and he catch up with the Crown Prince as they went back to the Fifth Prince's palace.
...
...
As both Chester and Eugene reach the room where Laurence is, they halt on their tracks as they felt a sudden strange aura lurking coming at the direction of Laurence's room.
'What in the—?!'
Both gentlemen had the same thought as they looked at each other with wide eyes and both of them didn't waste any moment as they dashed immediately to Laurence's room.
*BAM!
As they both slammed the door to open, what they were about to do had halted in their tracks as they widen their eyes upon seeing something that's impossible.
"JULES!"
The who shouted is none other than Eugene, the Crown Prince and he looked at the other people who are taking care of the Fifth Prince as all of them are on the ground floor and groaning in pain.
'Just what in the world is happening?!'
At the center of the room, the unconscious Laurence is floating in mid-air, and there is a translucent light that surrounds him.
Not just any light, but all the basic elements are surrounding the unconscious Laurence just like a statue that portrays a deity.
Chester thought; 'W-what is this?! The Fifth Prince had no magic affinity, right?!'
However, unlike what Chester thought, Eugene had a different thought about the scene in front of him, which he couldn't help but to be flabbergasted about it.
As Eugene was about to take a step inside, the pressure inside Laurence's room became heavier, it holds the same power as Eugene's but the pressure from Laurence's power was much stronger that makes them couldn't move an inch.
"Argh! W-what kind of—?!"
However, it didn't take too long for the pressure they felt suddenly cease and Laurence, still unconscious mid-air, suddenly drops and before it can reach to the ground, the two immediately responded to catch him.
The first one to catch the unconscious Laurence is Eugene, followed by Chester, as they both check his condition, and the boy is still unconscious, but his breathing is normal. That makes both gentlemen sigh in relief.
However, Chester notice something on Laurence's forehead that makes him frown.
"What is this? Snowflake wings?"
He mumbled out of nowhere and at the moment; he shivered as he felt someone's gaze is looking in his direction with a killing intent.
However, that gaze he felt is near him and as he turns his head over at his side, Eugene is looking at him with a predatory gaze, which he didn't know what triggers it.
Seconds later, Chester immediately realize and understood the situation as he removed himself from the two royal siblings as he half-kneeled in front of the Crown Prince who is still looking at him with much more killing intent while protecting the unconscious Fifth Prince on his embrace.
"Your Highness, you know I won't ask anything, and you know how tight-lipped I am so…. You may rest assured that I saw nothing"
Chester waited for the Crown Prince to speak, and minutes later, the Crown Prince finally spoke.
"Take care of the others lying there. This incident never happens, understand?"
