Ella POV
I lay on my bed, more relaxed than I had felt in years. Claire had only been here a week, but the past few days and evenings had been spent with the two of us hanging out with Adam and his brothers.
I never realized how joyful life could be spending time in a home. Even simple things like lounging in the living room while watching a movie or enjoying a meal at the table with others were things I had never enjoyed before I met Adam.
However, there was this lingering sinking sensation that started to weigh me down the last few days, though. Even though I finally felt relaxed, I could feel a new wave of tension in my shoulders and neck, as if I had worked out constantly for hours.
I turned onto my side as thoughts lingered back to the life I had left behind. As much as I wanted to put my past behind me, I felt things were far from over.
“Hey,” I heard a soft voice pop up from the end of my bed.
