For a couple of hours, no one dared to disturb the mafia king. It would certainly change their fate. For him, one wrong move was comparable to violence.
There were three men outside of the door, while the rest of them celebrated with alcohol and packs of cigarettes.
Aside from it, there was three billiards area that kept his men entertained.
For how many years, he had ruled the criminal world without any mistakes. Every operation, negotiation, and agreement was completed because of his connections and undeniable abilities.
Most of the criminals who knew the mafia king feared him the most. They didn't want to create a war against him or it would be the end of their happy days.
However, his assistant received a call from a reliable source. It was great news and so, he quickly ran towards the hidden room.
"Drake!"
"Let me in, I have some great news for you!" he exclaimed and couldn't wait to relay it to him.
But no one answered which brought fear to the men outside.
"Damn, why don't you open the goddamn door—"
The door suddenly opened and saw Drake wrapped in a white towel and half-naked.
It seemed like he had just come from the bathroom and rushed things as soon as he heard someone's voice.
Drake looked intently into his eyes, "Why don't you come inside, Trace." He said and gave the signal to his men.
Trace sighed heavily and took the phone out of his chest. It was one of the things they had been waiting for ages.
He then gave the proof to Drake and stood next to him. "Mirena's company is facing another crisis! It is being said that someone took advantage and stole fifty million dollars!"
It wasn't new to the mafia king. Fifty million dollars were only a piece of cake compared to the transactions he made two years ago.
"I did it. After all, I came here to take revenge," said Drake which surprised Trace.
He didn't know that Drake decided to rush things when he planned to take steps one at a time. Trace thought that it was someone else and merely a coincidence.
Drake put the phone on top of the table. He then walked into the closet and picked a beige sleeve and black trousers.
He sighed, "Aren't you happy? Once I got everything she has, we will go back to the place where we belong."
"Did something happen between you and Mirena? You can't lie to me, Drake! Just tell me what happened that urged you to do this to her!"
"It doesn't matter at all," replied Drake and changed in front of his best friend.
He tried to forget Mirena's scarlet cheeks and sweating forehead. It would be better to keep it to himself and decide to act as if nothing happened.
A long, deep sigh distracted Trace. He narrowed his eyes, rubbing his nape frustratingly.
"I am warning you, Drake! Don't do things that will hunt you for the rest of your life!"
Trace felt guilty. Perhaps, he didn't know her personally but there was a strange feeling within his chest. Such feeling was strong and poisonous that could destroy a well-defined foundation.
Out of the blue, Drake Quinn burst into laughter. It then sounded off around as he tapped Trace's shoulder.
"Never forget that we're not meant to fall in love with someone if we wanted them to be safe and alive," Drake whispered into his ears.
The moment he took responsibility as the mafia king, he kept in mind that woman was a distraction only. It became his belief these days.

Cyril showed the stolen fifty million dollars from the stock market to Mirena. She didn't know how to comfort the young heiress after losing a such great amount of money.
"I tried to track this person, but I failed to locate his exact location. It was not our staff's fault, Mirena." She said and felt sorry for her friend's loss.
Expectedly, Mirena got furious and lost control. She didn't know what to do after everything that happened. The sales in the black market were declining and now, someone dated to steal a large sum of money from the company.
Mirena tore the documents into tiny pieces and threw them into the floor. She was cornered. If things like this always happened, she has no choice but to sell all of her private properties before her father heard about a such massive crisis.
"Damn it! This is all my fucking fault!" Mirena clamored and blamed herself.
If she would ask someone, Mirena won't take all the harsh and painful words she may receive. Her actions didn't meet for a responsible CEO like the existing rivalry.
With just a snap of her fingers, everything turned upside down. Maybe next month, or even tomorrow, she might wake up without anything.
Certainly, Mirena Miller would live a miserable life with hundreds of dollars in debt to her friends and acquaintances.
As a true friend, Cyril walked closer to her as she rubbed Mirena's back. She didn't know how to get back the money she had lost in a minute.
Cyril felt responsible for her friend's loss, but she couldn't afford fifty million dollars in cash. It was enough to build a rented apartment and investments in any trending businesses.
"If you will stay in here the entire day, you can't change it anymore. Maybe, this is the perfect time for you to value the things that you have right now." Cyril spoke with disappointment and jealousy in her voice.
She worked hard to reach this far, but with the blink of the king's successor's eyes, she might lose everything as well.
To an ambitious woman like her, she won't let it happen. Desperation urged Cyril to do things that would ruin Mirena's trust.
An ordinary woman like Cyril, she would rather choose to stay at the place where she worked hard to get. Whatever happened, she must be the last woman standing in the company even if it means hurting Mirena Miller.
"Forgive me, Mirena. But I don't think loyalty is enough to stay in my place." She thought as Mirena wasted her time thinking of a new plan.
She didn't notice that a kind, adorable kitten turned into a venomous snake. In the future, the same snake would bring bite and bring her to the edge of death.
