Chereads / The Mafia King's Revenge / Chapter 21 - A knight in shining armor

Chapter 21 - A knight in shining armor

Drake stayed at the hideout the entire day. He wanted to see Mirena, but it would only distract him.

He has something else to do. Aside from the brand-new guns and documents that needed to be signed, Drake was scheduled to meet the man who stole the fifty million dollars from the Miller's clothing company.

Revenge was the mission he gave to himself, but never thought it could be this hard and challenging.

Just like what happened last night with Mirena. He never thought that it would take place out of nowhere.

If only he could turn back the time, Drake was willing to avoid it. All of his life, he believed that Mirena was a dirty woman.

He unknowingly jumped to a conclusion without knowing the truth about her.

"Damn it, why I can't stop thinking about her!" Drake sighed heavily and decided to go out.

However, he caught a glimpse of Trace on the right corner, drinking alone.

As the mafia king who ruled the criminal world, he pretended to be furious. As soon as he saw one of the guns on the table, Drake suddenly pointed it at Trace and pulled the trigger.

BANG!

A loud sound echoed around which caught everyone's attention. Everyone was shocked because of his sudden action.

But Trace quickly stood from the steel chair and used it to protect himself. He avoided the mafia king's attack and picked the bullet that fell to the ground. He then turned around and smiled over his shoulders.

He said, "Fuck you, Drake! What do you think of me, a wall?"

Trace threw the bullet into the thin air and Drake caught it perfectly. Shooting each other became a normal thing for them.

Yet, the rest of the mafia king's men were never used to it, and to break the awkward silence, Drake burst into loud laughter.

"Woah, I can't still believe your instincts!" Drake said, putting aside the gun back on top of the table. He then looked at the steel chair that got a small hole.

Trace was trained to be his assistant. He wasn't a typical assistant who only looked after the boss, but a promising man with great combat abilities.

He could be one of the special forces in the entire country but decided to work under the king of the criminal world.

Like Drake, he had killed thousands of men and it would continue until the rest of his life.

"You're still a bad shooter, Drake." Trace replied and both of them laughed so loud.

At that moment, the mafia king came back to his senses as he celebrated another triumph with his men. In the upcoming days, it would be a bloody transaction with the country's most wanted criminal.

He must prepare himself to stay alive. If he succeeded, all the members of the well-known syndicates would hail him as their boss. It would be Drake's advantage. He could use them to scare Mirena Miller.

In the middle of joy and victory, one of his right hands went toward him and said something.

"Ms. Mirena Miller wants to see you, Sir. She's waiting at the place Sunshine."

Drake stopped drinking and grabbed the black coat from the chair.

"Call me when something happened, do you understand?"

"Yes, Sir!"

Trace watched the mafia king from afar. He didn't know why, but he noticed something changed about Drake.

"I have to do something before it could complicate things." He took another sip and followed Drake secretly.

Mirena arrived at the Sunshine by herself. She didn't know exactly what to do after losing millions of dollars.

For three, long hours, she stayed in her office with Cyril. She was thinking of another way to gather such an amount, but nothing flashed into her head.

She then decided to ask for help from Drake. Mirena didn't know that she summoned the mastermind of the incident. Through her carelessness, she just let a traitor manipulate her.

Meanwhile, Mirena ordered the same flavor and waited inside the VIP room. As soon she sat down on the soft chair, she took a deep breath and caressed her temple.

"Woah, what should I do? I'm losing everything slowly." She murmured and looked exhausted.

Her face wasn't bright as it was before. Due to the crisis, her health got affected and she didn't eat breakfast and lunch.

"Ugh, my head hurts!"

Mirena closed her eyes when she suddenly felt so dizzy. Her stomach was empty and caused her head to hurt.

The pain didn't disappear after she drank a glass of water. It usually vanished, but things didn't happen as she wanted.

Fortunately, someone knocked on the door which made her smile.

"Come in!" Mirena said with enthusiasm despite the pain she felt within.

She was still caressing her temple until Shaira Greene entered with her orders.

"What's wrong? You look so pale and weak, Mirena!" Shaira noticed how different she looked right now.

But Mirena pretended to be okay. She shook her head in disagreement and waved her hands in front of her.

"I thought it was Drake…," she murmured.

Shaira didn't hear the last words she said. She was worried about her friend's condition and Mirena never came to the coffee shop like this.

However, she couldn't stay longer with a VIP customer. A lot of customers visited the shop every afternoon. Shaira didn't want to cause any problems, so she decided to leave with a heavy heart.

"Are you really fine?" Shaira asked once again.

"Yes, thank you for asking."

By then, Shaira took the empty tray and brought it back. She wondered if Mirena was waiting for someone, or if she went alone to think about something else.

Despite the evident signs, Shaira left her friend and went back to work. She had no choice but to fulfill her duties as a responsible worker.

As soon as she reached the counter area, she saw someone familiar enter inside.

The man was wearing a beige sleeve and paired it with black trousers and a coat. He looked like a CEO which caught her attention.

Shaira narrowed her eyes, trying to think where he met him before. It was hard to recall as she met different people every single day.

Until the man looked in her way and gasped. He was about to ask a question when Mirena went out of the room, breathing heavily.

Before she could say something, the poor woman suddenly lost consciousness and fell to the floor.

"Mirena!"

"Mirena!"

Shaira uttered her name, but it was too late. But as soon as she blinked her eyes, she saw the man bringing Mirena into his car with ease like a knight in shining armor.

She was about to ask his name when two new customers arrived.
