After a few minutes of painful dragging, Mino's entire body was
racking with pain. Especially his face, half of which was swollen.
There were scrape wounds on his chest, one of his arms had a
red imprint on it. He was standing in front of a cherry coloured
door which had a carving on it to show who occupied it.
"Arron Whitefur?" he couldn't help but mutter slowly. As soon as
he did, his body stiffened.
"Don't speak his name without an honorific if you don't wanna
die, you runt. I dunno why Arron asked to meet a fucker like
you, but don't keep him waiting, you prick."The man growled
while directing a chilling gaze at Mino.
The man walked away, leaving Mino behind. He sighed
helplessly.
"Wait a sec... how the fuck did I understand his words!" Upon
this realisation, his confusion deepened. But he had nothing he
could do. He was sure that if he was caught trying to explore
around, it was the end of him.
Raising his hand, he knocked
twice on the wooden door. The flat sound produced made his
insides vibrate.
Mino patiently waited, he didn't want any unnecessary trouble...or thrashings.
"Come in."
After a minute or two, a click sounded, followed by a calm order.
Mino pushed the door by applying a lot of force, it appeared to
be incredibly heavy. After opening, he tried to close it.
But it simply won't budge!
Mino tried to push it, but felt as if something was blocking it. He
looked down and noticed that the floor was a bit rough.
But that
wasn't any reason for the door to not close. He was genuinely
perplexed, he turned back to see a man looking at him calmly,
as if waiting for him to close the door. Mino noticed two slender long white bordered things sprouting
out from his head. He had pure white hair, red eyes and strangely gave off the vibes of a... no the feeling wasn't clear and Mino couldn't put his finger on it.
Mino felt like he was facing a rabbit, but an extremely smart one and not at all the innocent ones he had petted and seen.
And this Mino didn't want
to take any chances. Afraid of being beat up again, he tried to
find out a way to close the door.
But his patience began to run
out within a minute.
"Why the fuck is this door moving in the
other direction and not in this! What the hell is blocking it?"
A few moments later, he gulped. "Blocking... the door?"
Instantly opening the door widely, he started pushing the air in
front the area where the door refused to move, as if he was
trying to confirm the presence of something.
And he found it
too, very quickly. He tried to push that area, but his hand was
blocked by a wall of sorts.
*Clap Clap Clap Clap*
Loud, slow sounds of clapping filled the room.
The source was,
without a doubt, Arron Whitefur. He was grinning widely.
Sitting on a chair and sipping something from
a weirdly shaped cup-like thing, Arron started,
"Greetings, Mino Clair, or should I call you otherworlder? Please
have a seat. We will be having a long, slow talk. Feel free to
pour yourself some tea. And don't worry, I won't be doing
anything to you I promise."
Finishing his words with an affable
smile, Arron pointed to the chair opposite to the table. The
mysterious blockade disappeared, and this time, the door
closed.
The table as well as the chairs was made with the same wood
as of the door.
Mino tried to pull one out, but was surprised of its
heaviness. He had to force it out with both of his hands.
Managing to pull it out, he sat down with a satisfied look on his
face. The cushions were really soft and dampened the pain in
his back.
"So, first things first, here take it."
Arron took out a scroll and handed it to Mino. Mino's face
instantly sported a frown. That fucking scroll was the cause of
all this! His Vietnam flashbacks intensified!
How could he not be
reminded of that teleport scroll? His fists clenched
automatically, and so tightly that his knuckles turned white.
"Oi oi you seem to have a bad memory with scrolls I guess...dunno why, considering you came from 'nother planet.
This one's a skill scroll, a rare scroll to learn a skill. In this case, it
carries language comprehension, allowing you to comprehend
only, mind you, only the speech of the language.
It's impossible
for you to learn the language of this world if you don't
understand anything. So I'm helping you out.
Learn the script
ASAP. By the way Mino, you sure are smart, to figure out that
there was a barrier blocking the door. I hoped to enjoy a bit
more of your confusion, but you didn't allow me to haha." he
chuckled heartily, the protrusions on his head swaying.
Mino's mind was in utter chaos. A thousand questions were
swirling in his mind, but he decided to learn the skill. Even if he
didn't want to, he was sure he would be forced to do it.
So he
didn't bother to waste energy. Quickly opening the scroll, he
learnt the skill. The entire process was mysterious and Mino
couldn't help but feel fascinated, which was natural.
A pop-up followed:
[
"What the fuck!" Mino blurted out without much thinking. Arron
simply smiled, amused at his reaction.
Brushing his pure white
hair, he said, "Mino, you may ask questions. I'll answer... or
atleast try to answer them."
[Hmmm... what can I ask? My mind is filled with questions... but
he said that he will 'try' to answer them. Does that mean he can
also lie about the answer? Yeah, he didn't mention anything
about truthful answering...]
Mino's brows furrowed and he looked at Arron with a wary gaze.
Arron noticed that and smirked. He was staring into Mino's eyes
with such a sharp gaze that it seemed like he was looking into
his soul.
[Dammit. I guess I have to believe him.
Well, at least he's kind enough to listen to me.]
Taking in a deep breath to calm himself down, Mino faked his
composure and glared back,
"How do you know that I am a
otherworlder?"
