Chereads / The Runaway Slave / Chapter 27 - Fool each other

Chapter 27 - Fool each other

Nicole paced up and down the front porch of her brothel, occasionally glancing at the tightly closed gate guarded by a thug. The middle-aged woman who wore gray shorts combined with a black tank top and let her hair down just like that was very nervous because Clarissa didn't come back when she should have been back an hour ago.

"Madam, I think the man who brought her wants to have her so he doesn't want to return her here again," said Jacob who was standing by the door.

"Then he'll have to pay a heavy price. The $5 million he'll have to give me if he wants Clarissa!" Nicole said firmly, afraid that what Jacob said was true. Losing Clarissa is tantamount to losing her gold mine, requiring her to find another gold mine to make herself a rich pimp.

"And of course, he didn't want to give you that much money. Because he's with Clarissa right now. I'm sure he's taken Clarissa far!" Jacob insisted with an ambitious look. "But you don't have to worry..I'll be contacting the other thugs roaming this town to contact us if they accidentally run into Clarissa or that guy," he continued.

"Yeah, do it!" Nicole said irritably, looking back at the gate. "She is the only favorite prostitute for our customers. Because now Daisy is official with Mr. Alexander. If she really runs away and we don't find her again, it means we will lose a lot of rich customers...It's really hard to find girls like them out there... It's too risky," she continued blankly, imagining how Xavier and Orlando, who had been Clarissa's customers all along. She imagined the two men would be mad at her for not being able to be with Clarissa, while the two men were the most influential customers in her career as a pimp.

Tin... in...

A honk sounded from across the gate. the two thugs guarding the gate immediately opened the gate, then a black luxury car entered the courtyard.

"Mr. Alexander?" Nicole stared at the car, realizing that it was Alexander Maxwell's car. "Why is he here again? could Daisy have been as brash as she was with Mr. Orlando? It would be fatal if he returned Daisy and asked for the money...I Already used the money for fun and investment!"

Jacob looked at Daisy getting out of the car with Alexander and then coming toward him.

Nicole immediately greeted Alexander and Daisy, then invited them to enter the living room.

"I came here just to say goodbye to Clarissa, then get my clothes," Daisy said with a straight look, facing Nicole while Alexander sat on the couch with Pierce.

"Daisy, you don't have to say goodbye to Clarissa because I've told her about your freedom now. You don't have to worry about her," Nicole said with a sweet smile as if being so nice to Daisy. "You better enjoy your freedom now...I believe Mr. Alexander can change your fate."

Daisy smiled wryly. "I know you're saying this because he paid me too much. Now all I want is Clarissa... I need to talk to her!" She said firmly then walked towards Clarissa's room.

Nicole also followed Daisy until they arrived in front of Clarissa's room which was next to Daisy's room. She grabbed the girl's hand until she failed to open the door to her friend's room.

"She is not here!" said Nicole in annoyance.

Daisy was silent for a moment, holding back a smile because she knew where Clarissa was. She pulled her hand away from Nicole, then looked at her with a frown.

"Where is she? Have you kicked her out?" She asked.

"I never kicked her out but she just left with Mr. Gery," Nicole replied irritably, then looked away. "Mr. Gery took it for 10 thousand dollars, then until now he hasn't returned it!"

Daisy shifted a few steps until she was face to face with Nicole again. "So, was Clarissa kidnapped?" She asked with a look of shock.

"Yes," Nicole curtly said.

"Oh my God... Then what if that guy named Gery tortures her? What if she's sold to a more violent pimp or maybe sold for her organs and then sold illegally?" Daisy wondered wistfully as if saddened by Clarissa's loss.

"I don't know either. I feel at a loss because she was taken away like that!" Nicole replied. "That bastard only paid ten thousand dollars and then didn't bring it back here again... Well, he stole Clarissa who has become the special here!"

"Then, let me stay here so that I will be the belle here so you don't lose your customer," said Daisy, pretending to be sad. "It's useless if I can live freely if it turns out that Clarissa was kidnapped. She is my best friend ..."

Nicole was silent, glancing at Daisy who wanted to go back to being a prostitute in the brothel. There was a joy because she didn't have to force the girl anymore but it was very difficult because she couldn't return the money that Alexander had given her. She couldn't help but have to let the girl live free instead of her having to fight with Alexander who could have acted badly on her.

"You don't need to stay here anymore. You have to stay with Mr. Alexander!" She said firmly and turned her face away. "About Clarissa, I'll ask Jacob to contact all his friends to help find Clarissa. I won't let him leave this place for long," she continued then walked into the living room.

Daisy just kept quiet with relief that no one suspected that Clarissa was being taken by Pierce. But she was also worried that if the thugs were around Pierce's apartment, they might see Clarissa who might be hanging around outside the room.

'I have to tell Pierce to remind Clarissa to stay in the room until Jacob and madam Nicole stop searching for her,' she thought angrily.

"Honey, why don't you pack up soon?"

Daisy looked the other way, finding Alexander coming toward her. She felt lazy to face the man but she had to face him anyway because after all, that man was the one who had set her free.

"Eh, I can't calm down because my friend was kidnapped by a customer," she said with a sad look.

Alexander sighed, then cupped Daisy's jaws with his strong hands. "You don't have to worry. I'm sure your friend will be found in good condition... She must also be trying to run away from that customer or maybe that customer is a man like me who loves you and wants to set you free. Maybe he wants Clarissa but he doesn't have much money to make up for it."

"How can you say that?" Daisy asked, worried that Alexander would find out about Clarissa.

"I'm just guessing. It makes perfect sense for her to be so lovable because she's so beautiful like you….You know that love has a power that can make people willing to do anything to get that love," Alexander explained with all his gentleness so that Daisy wouldn't be nervous anymore. "Now let's go to your room. I'll help you pack," he continued.

"Okay," Daisy said quietly, immediately walking to her room followed by Alexander.

Alexander followed Daisy with a satisfied smile because it turned out that Clarissa wasn't in the brothel anymore. For him, the loss of Clarissa would make Daisy surrender and choose to stay with him.

'Maybe I just need to pretend I'm searching Clarissa so she can admire me,' he thought with a sly smile.
