From that day on, Eleanor was more sensitive to smells. Her body was getting thinner, and her face always looked pale. People around her asked, and she always answered just fine.
Until one day, Eleanor vomited all the food in her stomach. A fat waitress named Crisanta watched her with a suspicious look.
Crisanta handed Eleanor a cloth to wipe her face.
"Eleanor, I'm sure something is going on with your body. You can't be all right. When was the last time you had your period?"
Eleanor blinked at the word 'menstruation.' She realized it'd been more than a month since she didn't get it. All this time, she kept thinking about Simon, fighting her feelings, and holding back feelings of longing for the man who turned out to be a monster.
Crisanta sighed. By seeing Eleanor's reaction, she already knew the answer. "Have you ever done that?"
"Y-yes. But I didn't expect to get pregnant." Eleanor answered while looking down weakly.
"Who is that man? You must tell him."
