" I know you wouldn't tell me about yourself, I mean you didn't even tell grand father a thing and I wouldn't force you".
" The one who mentored me was my older brother, he was and is the only one in the family that loves grandfather a lot".
He walked to the side, sitting down on another log.
" Our parents died when I was still very young, we signed a contract before they passed away, when brother is of age twenty he would take up the duties and responsibilities which he did, but doesn't enjoy doing it.
Alvah was curious what she meant by duties and responsibilities and so he asked... "what kind of duties?"
Vida paused for a brief moment to think, Didn't grandpa tell him, I don't think he did. Could that be the reason he told me not to come with guards and change my clothes. She looked down at herself.
" Nothing, it's just family duties that's all".
She stood up hastily, " Okay. We're here for your training, let's get to it".
She asked looking at his hand, " What weapon is your specialty?".
He replied, "I don't need you to train me with weapons". " Sorry, your training is combat training, Okay".
" I'm a female, but I sure wouldn't go easy on you". He stood up tiredly and spoke, " I'll defend".
She suggested, " Let's both attack and defend". " I choose to defend, you attack me". He cleared the confusion.
" No you attack and I'll defend". She insisted. " You just want to argue don't you?", he asked with a slight frown.
" I hope their training today would work out, they haven't come back yet, things should go so perfectly for them". Old sage had his thoughts.
"Maybe, he could end up being the one for her", he said hopefully.
" You said you wanted to learn to combat, if I defend that way I know how strong your attack is". She explained.
" Besides, what's the use of learning to fight if you've got a weapon and your power". She can't understand why he's still interested in learning combat.
" I can't stay without knowing how to fight, what if I have none of this things with me, what would I do?.
And you don't expect me to not know how to fight, that doesn't make sense".
"Okay, you defend and I attack". She gave in. He had his reason and she has to abide.
When the training session was over, Vida went back home while Alvah stayed back.
When she arrived, old sage asked where Alvah was. She replied, " Alvah stayed back for instillation". He had told her he would do it at the end of their training.
With interest he asked, " So your first training with him, how was it?".
" Alvah is good at defending, especially because of his amazing speed. I don't see the reason why he can't fight? Or is he lying?".
" He's good but maybe he wants to enhance it even more, it's not bad of him to upgrade what he has already".
"I'm hungry". She said walking to the table. "I made some food for you". He said dishing her food onto the plate.
She asked looking around the table, " What of Alvah's?". " He doesn't eat, at least not everyday. Help me". He needed some help in setting up the dinner.
She placed the food on the table, sitting down to eat even before him. She said to him as she couldn't hold it in any longer, " You never told me my student was older than me".
" Is it bad if he's older than you, he just wants to learn that's all". " Okay, then again you never told me he is an infernal". She had more questions up her sleeve.
" Infernal, he repeated. I myself didn't believe it, but it doesn't look like Tartarus knows of his presence here". He looked around. " Vida, you will tell no one that Alvah was here you never knew or met him, okay.
"Okay, what about you?.... Will you tell anyone?".
He laughed, " I don't have much time living anyways, I would die with it".
" Grandfather, You always say you will die, yet you haven't, why do you wish to leave us". She was referring to her and her brother.
" I can't guarantee I'll live forever, besides I have accomplished the task that I desired for a long time. What more am I living for?".
"Alvah". She called his name. "Yes?". He was alert to answer her question. " He is your biggest accomplishment?".
" You all know how much I've studied this, he proved to me that I could make it. He was quite tough you know. I spent five months on him, he is worth those five months".
" Besides, my own son and his beloved wife left before me, how should I feel. I'd prefer to go join them"
She hit his arm softly. " Grandpa, you want to join them what about I and brother will you leave us too?"
He laughed, " how is Killian doing?". " He's keeping up, but it looks like he wants a companion since I can't be with him all the time. He wants someone to share his problems with but he wants to solve people's problems".
" Companion". Old sage said to her hearing. She looked at him with her side eye. " Not today". She muttered.
" When will you give me my great grand child". "Grandpa". She exclaimed, tired of having this conversation.
" You were seriously angry with me, I thought you had developed hatred towards me".
She smiled. " I didn't mean to embarrass you if I did that I apologize, but for years, years you ignored me, why did you do that?".
"I'm sorry Grandpa". She apologized genuinely. " it isn't wrong for me to betroth you, is it?"
"It is". She answered seriously. " By now I should have a great grand child or children, shouldn't I?".
" Why don't you ask brother to give you one?". Afterall her brother was older.
" I want from you, don't you see?. I want to wish good things in his life before I die".
" Grandpa you never know where I would marry from. All this suitors are not for me, the right one will eventually turn up, and soon". She really wasn't sure.
" Do you really think if your mom was around she would let you stay this long without getting married?".
" I'm not sure, but she definitely wouldn't get into a wrong marriage".
' Vida's attitude towards me seemed to have changed a lot, is it because of Alvah. He must have told her something'. He thought within.
"Where is Alvah?". He asked as he had not seen him and it was getting late.
" I don't know why he's taking too long". She replied concentrated on the food.
" I went to go check up on a friend". He said entering the house headed to the dining.
He sat down beside vida, he had his hair down during the meditation. So when he got back, he raised it up to style it, vida looked at him and quickly looked away.
" It's working perfectly". Old sage said to him. "Eat something". He indicated with his fingers.
"I'm not hungry". He rejected as usual. Vida passed a cup of water to him.
He took it and gulped it down his throat. " Today went better than yesterday didn't it". Old sage asked for confirmation from him.
" Yes, I need to rest, I'll see you tomorrow". He said and left the both of them.
He left them in the dining room to his bedroom. Vida was done eating by the time, she took the plates back to the kitchen and did some washing.
Old sage had gone to bed. She checked up on him before going to her room, she had a thought to check on Alvah before going to bed.
When she got there, she opened his door, he was on the bed with his eyes open but she didn't notice. "Are you asleep?". She asked.
" What do you want?". Was his reply.
" Well, if you really, really need someone to talk to, I'm here, is there anything bothering you?".
" I told you already I'm not telling you a thing about myself, I made it clear. I knew you only told me your story so I would tell you mine". She was exposed by the wind.
"Fine, Okay. How is your arm?". " It's Okay, wait", he stopped her as she was about leaving the room.
" You know about Tartarus don't you? ". "Yes", she replied with her eyes focused on him.
"You're from the fire district?". He asked for confirmation. "Yes". She nodded.
He asked her, "What relationship does the fire district have with Tartarus?".
She couldn't answer his question but said this instead.
" Some things are meant to be kept a secret Alvah. But if you're in Tartarus, how do you not know what's going on?".
He said to himself.... Azazel should know about this, and if he does why hasn't he told me. Is it because I'm still a part celestial.
He further asked. " How long have the both places had this relationship".
" I'm not sure, but it's quite some time".
Could it be that maybe the mundanes are involved, but they know much about the infernals. He was referring to the fire district.
"Can I go now?". She asked as the conversation wasn't between them anymore.
"Yes".
"Okay". she left the room.
Alvah's head was burning from thinking too much overnight.
