Chereads / Gricard System in the Apocalypse / Chapter 7 - Wind Eagle

Chapter 7 - Wind Eagle

"Enemy..."

He didn't even have time to try to dodge or look for where the danger was coming from when he tasted the taste of blood in his mouth.

Unbeknownst to him, he had already suffered an internal wound after suffering a strong impact on his back. Although his armor was still unharmed, the impact had still been very strong and he found himself being hurled as he fell like a small meteor from the skies towards one of the terraces nearby.

"So strong..." As he thought about the force of the blow he had just received, he quickly swallowed the blood about to spurt from his mouth and adjusted his falling body by flapping his wings a few times to slow his fall.

Even though he reduced his descent, he still landed with a slight squat as he placed his left hand on the ground to regain his balance from the fall.

After going through several internal upgrades, its current 130-point Constitution wasn't just there for show.

According to the information contained in the Gricard, the Constitution attribute determines the stamina, health and physical condition of each evolved.

Generally speaking, Constitution is related to how much physical resistance he has, how many impacts he can withstand, and how quickly his internal wounds will heal. It also serves to determine resistance to poisons, fatigue and climatic rigors.

Recovering from the fall, he quickly got up, looked up at the sky, and finally knew who had attacked him.

About 200 meters above where he was, a large green eagle with a silver crown was flying overhead as it stared at him with cold eyes. Its body measured about 4 meters long and each of its wings measured about 2 meters long, the same size as the wings on Agnus' black armor.

Its green feathers had a cold, metallic sheen as they glistened with the feathers on its head that formed a silvery crown. Its silver claws were huge and so sharp that they seemed to be able to even cut through steel without any resistance.

As she hovered over Agnus, her pair of cold eyes were a little confused and for a moment she didn't seem to know what to do. It was as if she was wondering how her target was still alive and unharmed after receiving one of her most powerful blows when being attacked by surprise.

That confused look was barely noticeable, but Agnus still managed to notice something... It was as if the beasts that were evolving were not only increasing their strength terribly, but also seems to gain a more advanced level of intelligence...

"This evolution speed is a little scary... Upon leaving my dorm, I came across a level 4 demonic spider, now, I barely flew 500 meters and was attacked by a bird that seems to have an even higher level..."

"At this rate, will humans still have a chance? Is the purpose of this Divine Judgment to annihilate humans?"

He couldn't help but take a quick look around the city's outskirts and the chaos was only getting worse.

Although many have evolved and obtained their Gricards, the vast majority awaken classes unsuitable for combat.

He just glanced casually, but he had just witnessed a strong man who managed to kill a zombie with a large fire ax and obtained a wood-colored Gricard. Soon, his right hand glowed with a faint glow and a broom appeared in his hand followed by leather armor on his body.

On another street, a woman obtained a green Gricard when a small plant had grown in her hand and her body had been covered by a green silk robe.

Clearly, the Gricards not only awakened combat classes, they also awakened work classes.

Among the evolved, Agnus also spotted several people possessing classes with powerful combat capabilities such as a young girl in golden armor and with a large thorny golden vine that stretched 10 meters in length and constantly crushed the zombies' heads in mists of blood.

A little further away, a young man was covered in a white and green combat suit while in his right hand was what appeared to be a white and green pistol much like the Blaster Pistol from the Star Wars movie he had watched on Earth. This young man was very agile and his every shot would blow a zombie's head off. Furthermore, the bullets in this pistol were not bullets as traditionally known, but white energy bullets. Most likely, these bullets were condensed with the wind element.

However, there were simply too many zombies and too many ferocious beasts constantly appearing, and sooner or later, these evolved ones would have their strength depleted if they continued to fight alone as they were.

Suddenly, a shrill cry of a bird resounded through the skies, snapping Agnus from her thoughts.

Seeing how its target ignored it as it looked around, the green eagle became enraged and quickly opened its curved silver beaks and condensed a ball of wind the size of a basketball. She tilted her neck back as her wings beat rhythmically, keeping her hovering fixedly in the air. As if she had gained enough momentum, she jerked her head forward in one fell swoop as she threw the wind ball at Agnus at impressive speed.

Agnus didn't hesitate for even a split second as he quickly activated his Void Aura and jumped to his right side to dodge the ball of wind.

If viewed in slow motion, it can be seen that within a radius of 10 meters from where he was, an energy layer formed like a shield causing the windball to slow down for just 0.2 seconds.

However, when passing Agnus, that 0.2 seconds was enough to allow him to dodge, as the wind ball had passed millimeters away from his eyes which seemed to see his trajectory.

Boom!

The wind ball made a strong impact that directly blew a large hole in the terrace's concrete, sending dust and rubble to the sides.

"So fast. If it weren't for me adding the last 20 attributes points in agility right now, I definitely wouldn't be able to dodge this attack..."

"Although my armor can resist, my internal organs still have a limit..."

Seeing that his attack missed its target, the green eagle quickly began to condense another ball of wind even more powerful.

"Tsk. Stupid little bird, is that what you attacked me with before?"

Although the eagle understood nothing of what its prey was talking about, it was still furious as it launched its attack again and, without hesitating, it quickly swooped down towards Agnus to attack with its long sharp claws.

She wasn't stupid, as she had seen that his prey had dodged his attack before, she expected him to dodge again and she would use that to her advantage to cut him in half with her claws.

However, she didn't expect his prey to also have the ability to cast spells.

Agnus not did stand still waiting for his attack this time, he also condensed his Thunder Ball in his left hand and quickly launched it against the wind ball.

Boom!

Soon, the two spells collided violently, a purple ball condensed with thunder and another white ball condensed with wind, causing a loud explosion alarming even the zombies on the roads that quickly began to climb the buildings.

The zombies seemed to be attracted by the noise as they followed the sound of the explosion that appeared in the skies and this ended up relieving the burden of the evolved ones who were fighting for their lives in the surroundings.

Taking advantage of this moment, many civilians who were hiding in wait took advantage of this opening and ran towards the center believing that there would be the safest region. After all, the central region was where the nobles were, who in turn had private forces capable of providing protection.

By the time the shock wave caused by the explosion had dispersed, the green eagle had already crossed that line and was adjusting its body into a landing position while stretching its sharp claws in an attempt to split its target's head in half.

"Good. You've finally come down..." Agnus was excited as the eagle swooped down to attack him with its talons.

He knew it would be very difficult to confront her if she kept attacking from a distance, as she was a wind beast and her speed seemed to be slightly superior to his. However, as she resolved to attack with her claws, she had fallen into his gravitational field formed by the Aura of the Void, which he most wanted to happen.

As expected, as soon as the green eagle entered its 10-meter range, its body felt strong pressure and it had even lost its flight balance.

This was to be expected as they were fighting on the terrace of a building 70 meters above the ground, and the higher the Void Aura is activated, the greater the effect of 2x gravity. Not to mention that the eagle had a massive 4-meter-long body that weighed hundreds of pounds, and along with its descent speed, the inertial force in the gravitational field had only increased further causing her to lose her balance.

Agnus was not going to miss this opportunity and quickly used all his strength on his feet and leapt forward while holding the shaft of his scythe with both hands to deliver a killing blow with the intention of ending this fight in one fell swoop, because he knew that this might be his only chance to have a hand-to-hand confrontation with her.

The entire black scythe crackled with purple thunder as it was swung in a powerful diagonal slash from bottom to top forming a half moon at a speed that the human eye could not see.

Puff...

Followed by a muffled sound, an eagle's head with stunned eyes was now spinning across the skies as his dead body landed on the roof of the building with blood gushing from his severed neck, also dropping two spiritual cards, one blue and one red.

A ball of white energy floated up and quickly disappeared as it entered Agnus' body.
