We wake up the next day, and Oliver's parents are really cool with us doing what we want, they are very much free love and hippie like. His mom brings us coffee, "thank you aunt Doris, I think we really need this," I say with sigh of relief.
She smiles and hands us pain killers, "you two look terrible, there's breakfast down stairs, and you both need to get your things ready, you leave early tomorrow." We nod knowing we look like death and laugh.
I help Oli pack his things, "I can't believe you got to kiss Storm you lucky bitch," Oliver says and I laugh.
"Well it's not like I will see him again, he's very intense, but it was amazing. He's just so gorgeous and deep, atleast one day I can say I kissed a rock star," we laugh and carry on packing. After we get done at Oli's we do my room and pack all my stuff, it's quite late and we decide to go for pizza. "Hard to believe this is the last time we will be eating at Gerry's Pizza." I say feeling nostalgic.
"I know, a whole new life awaits us, Ems, we are going to have a blast." Oliver says pulling me out of my funk. We laugh and clink our cokes. We part ways and I head to bed as we have an early flight in the morning, as planned we want to get settled in over the summer before we start classes, and find jobs.
We arrive at the airport, and we say our goodbyes to our crying parents. The flight is long, and we sleep for most of it, finally arriving in Boston, there's a car waiting for us to take us to our apartment. We couldn't be more excited. "We made it honey!" Oli cheers.
"A new chapter Oli!" I say equally as excited. We arrive at our apartment, it's quite big, it has three bedrooms and on the fourth floor of the building, not far from the University. Our things have also arrived, our parents had the apartment furnished, which is awesome. We literally just have to work for food and utilities, the place is paid for, lucky for us. So we unpack our things in our new bedroom's, and we decide we need take out. Now I won't lie, we are well off, both of us, but we want to work for what we have, and will only use our trustfunds till we find jobs. We order Chinese food and put on some movies, we are utterly exhausted, it's been a long day unpacking.
It's about eight at night and our doorbell rings, "strange, nobody knows where we live," I say a bit shocked.
Oliver gets up to answer the door, and I stay on the couch. "Delivery for Emily Richards." I hear the man at the door. I get up and go over to Oliver, where I sign on the delivery man's board. He pulls out from the side a huge bunch of red and white roses. I'm so confused, Oli too. I take it give him a tip and walk inside to find a vase, "Ems who are they from?" Oli asks.
I shrug and take the card out nonchalantly and read it out loud, "Congratulations on Harvard 'Dr Richards' and the new apartment - Storm."
I stand dumbstruck, Oliver has a huge naughty smile on his face, "are you sure you didn't do more than kiss this guy?" Oli Jokes.
"Positive, I have zero idea why he would send me flowers." I answer in shock. I'm sure it's nothing, why on earth would he be interested in me? I know I didn't swoon over him because I simply didn't stand a chance, what's the point in sending me flowers?
We go to bed and the next week we job hunt and I land a Hostess job at a swanky restaurant, it's something. I will be working nights so I can attend my classes in the day, Oliver got a job as a barman at the same restaurant but we won't be on all the same shifts, it pays well and we will be saving for the summer, so we can live comfortably. I am putting away a bit extra for a car though. I don't want a hand out from my parents or to use my trustfund.
It's been about three weeks and we are loving the new life. We have been working for a few hours, I take a break to have some dinner and I check my phone, I see a message from a number I don't recognise. I open it nonchalantly, probably just junk mail.
"Hope you liked the flowers - S."
I nearly have a mini heart attack it's Storm! I stare at the message for a few minutes, it's short and to the point. I get the idea, he isn't a very talkative person. How did he get my number? I hit Reply.
"Stalker much? How did you get my number? The flowers arrived, they were lovely thank you."
I put my phone away not expecting a reply. I don't get this, he can have any girl he wants but he's texting me? Probably a regular thing with him and women, I won't think much about it. I finish off my shift and wait for Oli, he's cashing up, once he's done we head home, we walk inside and I'm silent. "Em why do you seem so distracted?" Oli asks.
I sit on the couch and take my heels off, rubbing my feet, "well I got a text from Storm."
Oli looks at me like I'm an alien, "Well, what did he say?"
I shrug, "he just asked if liked the flowers, and I replied no big deal I'm sure he does this to lots of women."
"Doubtful, I'm sure he doesn't, he seems like the loner type, who clearly has eyes for you, have you checked if he replied?" Oli asks. I shake my head, "well look," Oli says exasperated.
I raise an eyebrow, "I doubt it," I answer him. I take out my phone and there are two new messages and I read it out loud, "if you gave me your digits I wouldn't have had to track you down, and I'm glad you liked them."
"I'm not good at this, I'm sorry if it seems creepy, I won't bother you again, just delete my number." Storm sent clearly worried. Oliver looks at me, his mouth hanging wide open.
"Fuck, just reply to the man, It's Storm Michaels texting you, the hottest man on the planet!" Oli screams at me.
"Ok, ok!" I answer rolling my eyes. New message to Storm:
"I'm sorry I left in a hurry, I didn't think you would want my number. I admit it's borderline creepy, but not deranged so you are in the clear there, why would you want to be speaking to someone like me?" I hit send.
"Oli, he's probably asleep I'm going to have a shower, and get into bed," I say exhausted.
"Alright me too, see you in the morning honey." Oliver shouts heading to his bedroom. I shower and get into bed just after eleven, I put on Netflix and watch two episodes of 'The Fall'. I'm halfway into the second episode and my phone dings, it's Storm. "Because I find you interesting."
I hit reply frowning, "that's very vague, I'm not interesting, I'm just a normal girl."
Storm responds. "Call it strange, but I liked kissing you."
Strange? Ok this is strange, "you kiss alot of women I'm sure." I hit back.
"Not as many as you would think." Storm says surprising me.
"So why me?" I bravely ask.
Storm responds immediately, "can't explain it, you fascinate me."
"Well shit, I don't know what I done that night but that's interesting." I say sarcastically.
"You are not like the other girls." Storm says mysteriously.
"I would hope so, I don't jump on everything that moves." I say rather petty. .
"You made me laugh, that's rare." Storm says making me blush.
"Well I'm taking me and my dark sense of humour and going to sleep, binge watching 'The Fall' is not good."
"I love that show, sweet dreams x." Storm responds for the last time and I fall into an excited restless sleep.
I wake up the next morning, and decide to keep the exchange to myself. Oli is still asleep, so I go for a run before my shift starts. I put on some tights, a sports bra and a hoodie, grab my iPod and blast The Wicked while I take a run. I run through the park and by a lake, thinking as I go. I don't know why he would be fascinated by me or even interested for that matter, I'm a nobody and I'm used to being a nobody. I finish up my run, and I walk through the front door to the apartment. "Morning sleeping beauty." Oli greets me.
"Oli, good morning." I reply slightly out of breath.
"I made us breakfast, your phone went off while you were out," he smiles at me.
"Ok, I'm gonna have a shower and join you in a bit," I say and he nods.
I calls after me, "bitch that better be Storm!" I laugh and disappear.
"Morning Emily, on my way to Boston for two shows. I will be there for a week, think I could see you?" Storm texts me. I think I'm going to have a heart attack! I breathe and I hit reply.
"Sure, that would be nice. " I respond casually.
Storm immediately responds. "Will be there tomorrow, speak soon."
"Speak soon x." I send back quickly.
I go about my business, and Oli and I eat breakfast, thank goodness tomorrow is Saturday and I have a weekend off. Classes start next week. This summer went by fast, but I'm excited to start classes, and Storm is coming and actually wants to see me. I'm done for work and I hear a knock at the door, some delivery guy hands me an envelope. I sign, close the door and open the envelope. It's VIP tickets and passes to The Wicked's concert in Boston. I read the note attached, "your name is on the list - Storm."
It's handwritten too, and I hand it to Oli. "Shit, for real?" He blurts out.
I smile and wink and head to work, while Oli has the day off. I decide to call him, I hope it's not too forward and presumptuous.
"HI," I hear that amazing accent, and suddenly I'm even more nervous, I evwn feel light headed.
I decide to brave it. "Hey Storm, I just wanted to say thank you for the tickets."
"You're welcome," he responds after a beat.
"Sorry for calling I just wanted to thank you in person, much better than a text." I say nervously.
Storm chuckles, "it's nice to hear your voice and its a pleasure. I have to head into the studio, see you tomorrow?" Storm asks.
"Sure, see you then." I answer and we hang up, I sigh letting our a huge breath, wow I love his accent, so sexy.
The day goes by quickly and I'm working the night shift too, as the other Hostess is sick. I'm totally out of it when I get home, Oli is out spending the night at a friend, he left me a note, so I have the apartment to myself. I take a long bubble bath and put on some music. I put my hair up in a messy bun tendrils hanging, and relax. I hear a knock at the door, it's nearly twelve am, who on earth could this be? Probably Oli, he must have left his key again. I put a towel on and run to the door still covered in some bubbles, I call out as I open the door, "Oli you really have to stop... Holy Shit!" Is all that manages to come out.
"Hi," is all he says.
"Storm?" I say standing and staring at him in utter shock, he smirks eyeing me from head to toe and back up again. Shit I'm in a towel.
"May I come in?" Storm asks.
I finally find my manners after a minute, "yes of course, make yourself at home, let me just put on some clothes, I'm sorry I thought you were Oliver." Storm raises an eyebrow and I continue, "Oliver is my gay best friend and room mate."
He smiles and nods in understanding, "ok."
I blush a bit, "be right back, " I say and he nods. He looks amazing in black ripped jeans, leather jacket black t-shirt, long shiny black hair, so hot. I slip on black yoga pants and a black tank top and fluffy black slippers and I loosen my hair, shaking it out a bit. Taking a deep breath, walking back inside, I say, "it's lovely to see you, I thought you were only coming in tomorrow?"
Storm who was looking around the place answers, "I took an early flight, just came from the airport." He says like it's no big deal.
I'm even more in shock, "well that's really sweet of you to surprise me," I answer completely flabbergasted.
Storm looks at me intensely, "I know it's late, but I wanted to see you again." he says honestly.
I can't help the smile that forms, "I'm so glad you are here, would you like a beer?" I ask and he nods.
I set down the beer on the table, and he moves closer to me, "playing some music?" He says playfully with a genuine smile.
I could kick myself, I know I'm blushing," I forgot to turn it off," I say face-palming.
"I'm flattered," Storm says as he chuckles at me. I decide to leave it playing. "How has Boston been treating you?" He asks sitting back relaxed.
I thank God for an easy topic. "It's been good I've found my footing, classes start next week, I'm really excited." I answer truthfully and he smiles.
"I'm glad you are liking it, it's a beautiful city." Storm says as he moves closer to me, there we go again, my heart is in my throat, he strokes my cheek. "I have been wanting to do this for a long time," Storm says as leans in and kisses me. I kiss him back, he tastes of mint, and just deliciousness, he deepens the kiss and I let out a moan. I feel him smile against my lips. "I won't keep you from sleep, I just needed to do that." Storm says with a wink, I can't help but smile.
"I'm glad you did," I say in a whisper. "Do you want to stay over? It's very late," I ask being polite.
Storm's eyes darken slightly, "if I stay over I can't guarantee to keep my hands off you and you are not that kind of girl. I want to take you out for dinner later tonight." He states.
I blush and nod my head, "ok."
Storm gives me a small kiss, "I'm staying at the Hilton, penthouse suite." I nod and just like that he's gone. I go to bed and put on Netflix to fall asleep, I get a text ,"Goodnight beautiful."
"Goodnight Storm." I reply smiling.
I wake up to a noise in the kitchen a few hours later, "Oli?" I call out.
"Yeah it's me, I think I'm still drunk," I says groaning. I get up and put him to bed it's seven am. I think I will go for a run, since it's still early, I put on sweatpants and a hoodie, put on my iPod and run. I go by the park and I think back to the kiss lastnight, wow Storm, I can't believe this. I took my cellphone just in case Storm decides to contact me, and as luck would have it, my phone rings. "HI," I answer panting.
"Hello Em," I hear that rich voice.
"Storm, to what do I owe this call?" I say trying to be casual.
"Well I would like to invite you to breakfast with the band," Storm says like he's speaking about the weather.
I pause, what? I take a deep breath, "sure that sounds lovely, would be nice to meet everyone," I say like I just said like I do this everyday.
"I will send a car for you in an hour," Storm says sweetly.
"Ok see you in a bit then," I answer and we drop the line, I run home as fast as I can, unfortunately Oli is still asleep. I have a quick shower. I straighten my hair, and I put on a white fitted tank body suit, a black tight skirt, matching with a high, knee high black boot. I put on little make up some dark eyeshadow, and a red lip. I grab my leather jacket and at eight thirty on the dot, the car is here. I get a text, "Ken is there to pick you up, he will bring you to us at the hotel, see you soon." I can't believe this is happening.
