Mr Smith turned back and looked at the woman in the off-white dress. If people were not expecting him here then he was not expecting this young woman here.
"It is so nice to see you, Katherine."
Violet's eyes glowed as she looked at the unexpected guest. "I did not think I would see you here."
It seemed like God was on their side tonight. All the balls were falling in their court. First Esmeralda did not come and attention was not taken from her. Then, Mr Smith arrived. They had not expected that he would come for certain but he did. And now Katherine was here. They had not been expecting here at all. But what a pleasant surprise it was. Maybe, a pleasant surprise was too weak a word to express what she was feeling at the moment.
"Well, you sent an invite, Violet, "Katherine said, looking at Violet, "I am pretty sure that it means you were anticipating my presence. I am happy to be here."
