Chapter 37 - I and Wine

Ivy and Esmeralda were on the balcony relaxing in the swing that they had installed there to see the view and enjoy the time alone. After Esmeralda returned home after signing the contract, she had been relatively silent. 

"What are you thinking?" Ivy asked her sister. "If you are feeling guilty, just come clean to our mother. She will not kill you. Dad won't let her kill us."

Esmeralda chuckled. "Sometimes I pity our mother. She gave birth to two brats who never gave her a single day without any worry. I was so young when I ran from home to make a career in a foreign land where nobody even knew me."

"But you succeeded in making a name for yourself, " Ivy said. "Isn't it what matters now?"

They all said that all is well if the end's well but the question is does the 'good' end justify the painful and shitty middle story? The question might be out of context here but it is a necessary question.
