Chapter 10 - My Name Is Haussmann!

Lu Yu's voice thundered in Arthur's mind as he stated Arthur's choices.

On one hand, Arthur could let his enemies live for a few more years. He would momentarily keep in his hatred and take revenge after becoming much stronger.

On the other hand, he could let his enemies die. Afterward, he would wander around in a life where he could die at any time.

Arthur pondered between the two options. He could see his once happy family in front of him.

His father would teach him to be a responsible person and not to shirk his responsibilities.

His mother would teach him to be kind. She would say that the gods would bless him if he remained kind with the virtue he had received.

His sister would be very naughty, but she would run up to help him when he was working. Sometimes she was sensible and well-behaved, while sometimes, she was willful and mischievous.

His neighbors, along with Verus and his family, would often send him delicious food. Everything seemed to be so beautiful.

It was as if this all just happened yesterday.

It felt as if all of this was still here…

At that moment, they had all disappeared without a trace. His family all died in a pool of blood. Verus, on the other hand, became a beggar on the street.

"I can't forget all of this, not even for a second!" he said. "I'm going to kill them all! Even if I die with them, I won't hesitate!"

Arthur's eyes were bloodshot. Lu Yu only watched indifferently. After all, Arthur had already made his decision. He didn't change his decision, but he made it more resolute.

The night of cultivation passed in a flash.

The following day, the sky was still dark. Arthur, who had changed his appearance, came to the village with Verus.

Smack!

A brawny man raised the whip in his hand and gave a bloodied, half-naked farmer a whip. In an instant, the farmer's back became red and swollen!

There were faint traces of blood that seeped out along the whip marks.

At the moment, many of the farmers were being whipped on their backs.

"Trash! You're already slacking off so early in the morning! It's only been four hours and you're already slacking off?"

"I'm telling you, if you don't plant my land well, you'll be done once Sir Spencer gets angry."

"You lowlifes and Arthur's family will all end up the same! Even if he's a transcendent, he's still no match for Sir Spencer. If Arthur can't beat Sir Spencer, then do you guys think you can?"

The brawny man spoke disdainfully to the farmers in front of him. As he spoke, he occasionally gave the farmers working hard a whip.

No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't avoid being whipped. Verus's eyes turned red as he looked at the scene before him. He wanted to step forward and argue.

The people who were being whipped were their neighbors. Moreover, these fields were supposed to belong to the farmers.

But now, not only did these people occupy their fields, but they also forced the farmers to come and work. They would beat people at every turn and force them to work longer without compensation.

"This is a beastly act!" Verus cursed.

"Hiss!" His anger affected his wound, inflicting a sharp pain in his chest.

"Don't be angry." Arthur stopped Verus.

"These people are Matthew's men?" Arthur asked.

Verus rubbed his chest and replied, "I don't think so. They're just a bunch of local ruffians. However, after invading our fields, they seemed to have connected with Matthew you and the Spencer family. Apparently, someone saw these people giving gifts to Matthew and the Spencers."

Arthur nodded. The two of them walked forward.

As expected, the houses in the town were filled with animals. As for the people, they were all driven to the edge of the town and lived in simple and crude shacks. Inside the sheds, many people were injured, and some weren't even covered from the sun.

Verus's father, who was once a determined and kind middle-aged man, was lying on a bed. His face was pale, and his body was fragile. Moreover, he also looked a little dehydrated.

After his legs were broken, they hadn't been nourished for a long time. Due to that, they seemed to be a little smaller than usual. He didn't look strong at all, which was already the result after taking some medicine last night.

On the other side, Verus's mother was also lying on the bed. She looked overworked and had a fever. Additionally, she looked just as thin and weak as her husband.

It had only been a month since they last met, but she seemed to have aged ten years. Now, she looked like an old woman. Her eyes were closed, and she didn't even know someone had come.

Arthur clenched his fists tightly. These local ruffians acted wantonly after they had a backer! At this point, they were driving the villagers to death!

In such a state, no one could live for long. If he hadn't returned in time, the Verus family would've lost three bodies today!

Arthur's eyes were filled with uncontrollable anger.

They left the shacks and walked to the place where the ruffians were.

At the village entrance.

The two saw that only a bunch of farmers were left in the field. The ruffians had already gone out to drink. Before they left, they gave the farmers a workload that was impossible to finish even if they worked hard for an entire day.

They also said if the farmers didn't complete their work, they would be whipped for the amount of work they missed. These hard-working farmers could only be beaten into a bloody mess even after working hard.

On the other hand, the ruffians would enjoy the fruits of others' labor and beat the farmers into a bloody mess. Thinking of this, Arthur's eyes were filled with killing intent.

He told Verus to hide at the side and not let anyone see him.

Shortly after, Arthur found the place where these people were drinking.

"You're the ones who invaded this town and drove the residents out of their houses?" Arthur stood at the side and asked loudly. He didn't care that they were still drinking and playing.

Hearing this, all the ruffians stood up.

Oh?"

"Who're you?"

"Are you here to cause trouble?"

"That's right, all the big and small matters in this town are now under my control! What, do you have something to say about that?" A ruffian stood in front of Arthur.

He reeked of alcohol and spoke provocatively. At this moment, Arthur was dressed as a robust man with a full beard. He looked like a strong man who was willing to fight for justice.

"Nothing much, it's just that these lands aren't yours. I need you to return it to the people." Arthur said calmly without any emotional fluctuations.

"Return it to the people?"

"Hahaha… Are you out of your mind? There used to be a troublemaker named Arthur in this town, but where do you think he is now?" he asked.

"The grass on his family's graves are already three feet tall!"

"Go around and ask! My name is Haussmann!"

"You think you can cross me? Even Matthew, the only supernatural in the area, has to give me face. Who the hell are you?"

"Do you believe that the bodies of your entire family will be hung at the village entrance tomorrow?"

The ruffian named Haussmann sneered and even wanted to pat Arthur's disguised head.
