"Oculus flash."
A blinding flash of lightning swept across Maru taking his vision away. After a few seconds a thunderous shot was heard. Not panicking maru tried to follow which direction the shot came from, but it wasn't easy to track with just his ears as the thunder had a surround sound effect.
He instantly felt a sense of danger heading his way. A feeling he hadn't felt the entire time they faced one another.
"So, I assume this is your ultimate attack. I can't see it or track it with my ears but I can focus in on the direction by its maliciousness feel." Maru calculated.
Damon was still conscious but he remained on the ground watching. For a second he thought he would pass out but managed to hang on to his mind.
He watched Maru's movement carefully seeing a calmness within him even without his sight. A slight smile appeared on Maru's face in a fraction of a second. Everything seemed to be moving slow.
Maru's hand glowed as a white marble stone sword appeared. The same one as before. Crouching down with the sword out in front and pulled down and back like he was preparing for a block, he took in some air and released it slowly.
Boom! Crackle, crack!
Charging bolt crashed into Maru instantly pushing him back several meters as his fett skidded across the ground. The bolt of lightning pulsated deep purple releasing shockwaves around him.
Maru grunted a time or two as his arms bulged on impact while bracing himself.
"Not bad at all Damon, but it's still beneath me." He shouted pushing the sword up. A white light surged from it curving upward taking the bolt of lightning with it redirecting it completely.
It crashed into the ceiling digging its way through the yellow and red stone and pierced the night sky.
"Ha, so I guess you're not really blind. If so, that first attack wouldn't have affected you."
Damon spoke while smiling and laying his head back on the ground.
Maru looked at him for a second and then looked up as his eye sight returned shortly after sending Damon's attack away.
He could see dark clouds fading and the same black fog fading in the air and for moment he could see a smaller dark cloud with pulsating light disappearing after.
Maru thought about for a minute, concluding that Damon had covered his ultimate attack the same way he did kass which made it even harder for him to detect at first.
Along with covering it up with his original storm cloud. Adding the attack that took away his vision suddenly also didn't help him in any way.
"He realized I'm not actually blind, my eyes just look like this."
"He created layers of his clouds and fog. He hid what I would guess to be his trump card within it. Such a strange way of thinking. The smaller cloud that packed all the punch was in the bigger one. Why not use the bigger one instead. Is their a condition to his attacks." Maru thought trying to figure out Damons reasoning.
The fight was incredibly one sided as one would expect from someone with great experience as Maru.
Kass had gotten up. She was hurt but not so bad. Her wounds had almost healed completely thanks to Damons recovery mist. He used cloud control as well to keep the mist following her while she was concealed within shadow haze.
Maru's eyes widened looking at kass wounds as she walked up to them helping Damon off the floor. He had planned to give her an elixer to heal her wounds, but to see her wounds practically gone surprised him.
"Have you learned to turn your tourniquet technique into something greater. Your wounds have almost disappeared." Maru asked.
"No, it was Damons rain that healed my wounds." She responded.
Maru smiled from ear to ear, it was a little unsettling as Damon and kass looked at him weird. Maru then explained to them why he was smiling, informing them of the rarity of abilities to heal while being an effective force.
He went deeper explaining that most people who have healing abilities aren't usually strong. Maru himself didn't have such a skill and so it surprised him that Damon could heal while also being super effective during combat.
"What if they are a soul beast master, can't they tame a beast with power to aid them with combat." Damon asked.
Most people would think that, but for some reason they can't bind their souls with a beast that doesn't have healing capabilities.
Its been that way for as long as I can remember being on planet syair. However their are very strong beasts with healing capabilities, but it is still incredibly difficult for someone with a lower power to harness one that is higher." Maru explained.
I only know six people that are on my level that have self healing skills. Those people abilities are mainly for healing but they all went through extreme difficulties learning techniques that aren't from planet syair.
Maru then explained that most adult guild members only take off world missions after reaching a certain level, filling them in on how the six primary healers learned from other races.
"Wait, you're talking about the medicinal six, also known as the six hexes. my father told me a little about them in some of his stories. Weren't they bad people though." Damon asked.
"Not, At first, but yes. Those six aren't necessarily good people. These days, who actually is." He responded.
"Having something like a healing ability in battle can turn tides and battles in so many ways. It was thanks to those six back in our most troublesome days that everyone was able to be great."
"That includes your father and his team along with sir hughes. You two must remember. Its not always about power."
"Nurture that regenerating skill, you must perfect it in every way. You as well kass, yours might not heal, but it does supremely well with bandaging and stopping life threatening wounds. That is a great skill to have."
They talked about their little spar more and ended up going into combat again. This time it was no abilities and just hand to hand combat. Maru prevailed easily without using much of his strength.
Afterwards, Damon and kass left Maru's personal training grounds. They spoke and shared memories about their separate times with Leon as they scrolled down the streets of the city which had calmed down greatly.
Their were people still out and about along with many guards but many of the training games had been closed.
"We're you seriousback there, you know, about not caring to find Dad anymore." She asked as they both took a seat on a nearby bench.
"Yes. I'm done searching and waiting for him. You should be too. We should walk our own path. Enjoy life, create bonds with people. Not spend our life finding out Dad's stupid secrets and trying to find him."
"But, we can do all those things while looking for him. Right!"
"I use to think that way, but not anymore. This is my first time being out, seeing how the world can be first hand. In this short time, I've realized something. You have to live your life. Find the things that truly motivates you and bring you joy. The thing is, I realized you have to be honest with yourself first."
"As far as we know, we only have one shot at life. I mean, I don't know exactly what happens when our soul leaves or bodies but I know our physical self and the way we see and interact with this world will be no more."
"I guess what I'm trying to say is. I'm starting to believe, we must find ourselves. Our true selves. Like who you are to the core. Something beyond our eyes can see or our minds can comprehend until it's right in front of us."
"Being alone for those years made me question alot about myself and life. I want to find what makes life worth living for. So many people live their life in the shadows of others or watch others fulfill the same dreams they have."
"I use to think my dream was to just be able to protect and defend myself. To not be weak. To find my father, but now I'm not so sure." Damon spoke.
Kass listened carefully. She was very surprise. Although she didn't really know her newfounded brother. She didn't take him for the type to think or speak the way he was speaking, at least not by the way he looked.
"So what are you searching for in life." She asked.
"That's it, I don't really know. I mean I want to find out what makes life worth living, but I don't even know what that means. The only thing I can think of that will help me find my way is to go through life how I want to. Not for anyone else, but for me." He responded standing up.
Kass smiled lightly while.
"Well baby bro, let's find what makes life worth living for together." Kass said.
"Don't call me that. Bro or Damon is perfectly fine." He said side eyeing her with a smirk.
