It was time for breakfast. Jessica, Adrian, Stormie and Sir Shkodra were at the table eating.
"Did you hear that loud noise last night? The wailing and barking. I think there's something about the animals around here." Jessica lamented and her kids looked at each other, then turned away quietly from each other.
They haven't said a word to each other since what happened last night.
"Wolfsberg can be a very dangerous place as night, Sir Shkodra admitted while his cold eyes studied the kids.
"You have not touched your food." They turned to her, and then back onto their plates.
"I'm not hungry." Adrian replied and an.... escaped him.
Stormie just kept quiet, staring at the wafers, cookies, flakes, and milk placed in front of him.
"Does anyone want some good news?"
"Yes, please!" they impatiently chorused in unison.
Jessica blushed at them with excitement.
"Looks like we're going to keep the house."
"Which house?" Stormie asked.
Sir Shkodra glared vividly at her while sipping his coffee.
"Our house." She replied. "Jerry said we got an offer from a big organization to buy Wolfsberg Manor. We're going to get together later, so if it's as good as he said, we could settle our bills-"
"Forgive me, ma'am." Sir Shkodra snapped with a gibber. "I'd have to leave." He wiped his mouth with a hanky and swapped out with a sneer.
Jessica stared at him, flabbergasted. She couldn't comprehend why he was acting out.
'Was it because of the house?' Jessica frowned and pulled her chair back.
"Excuse me, guys." She said before going after Sir Shkodra. "I really need to talk to him."
Adrian and Stormie stared blankly at their food and then turned to each other. With a lot of words and questions in their mind.
"Sir Shkodra! Sir Shkodra!! " Jessica followed him into the kitchen. "Excuse me, Sir Shkodra!!!"
He replied, raising a carving knife to her face. Jessica fright and gasped a word incoherently. "Omigod!"
"I have taken care of Wolfsburg Manor and Novak's family my entire life. This is all I have left and now you want to take that way from me?" Sir Shkodra gnashed his teeth at her.
"I would do my best to find you another home, I promise."
"I have no other home." He replied in his thick German accent.
"Understand, Sir Shkodra. I have to do what's best for my family."
"Trust me, you do not know what is best for family."
"Excuse me?"
"This home is my family, Jessica. You do not understand the darkness that will fall before you if-"
"Okay, now you're freaking me out here, Sir Shkodra! Just take a moment and breath. Calm down and let's solve this issue like adults."
"Put the knife down, please." She begged, opening her palms to him.
He obeyed.
"Thank you." Jessica muttered with a sigh of relief. "Look, I'm sorry that things turned out this way and I don't want us to have any misunderstandings, but I hope you understand."
"And I hope you get that if Wolfsberg manor falls into the wrong hands, our lives will be ruined!" he roared at her face.
"Okay. Your life, not mine. And please, keep my children out of this because you're super creepy. It's nice having a word with you, but I'm going inside now." She rolled her eyes at him, going to her room.
Sir Shkodra just stared at her with the weirdest look on his face. Like she was the scary one. He had to stop her by all means from selling the manor.
'It's just the matter of time.' he told himself. Letting out a calm breath.
Adrian and Stormie were in the backyard.
"This is a all your fault!" Adrian started, staring at the woods.
"My fault?"
"Yes, your fault! You made me follow you with looking fir the creepy hidden lab.
"Hey, I was just trying to help you get to your stupid party."
Adrian sniffed the air. It allured that he looked around. He ran after it to the woods and caught a red squirrel. It moaned in fear while he climbed a tree, letting it escape. It barked to alarm other squirrels of the predator as it gave a weaving run into the woods with its tail held out behind.
"No!" Stormie stormed after him, looking at her from under the tree. "Would you come down?!"
"No, I won't! Leave me alone!!! I don't want to see you, Stormie! Get lost!!!" Adrian yelled out in frustration.
"But you need to chill out!"
"I can't chill out. I ate a wild fox last night. Have you ever seen one of those things? They smell."
"Well, not bad." Stormie swished, making it sound normal even though it wasn't.
"What if I ate another one next time? A beaver, a dear! What if I hurt you, or mum?"
"No." Stormie replied. "You won't do that."
"How can you tell? My urge for feeding increases by the day? Would I ever get better? I'm scared, you know, tonight is the full moon." Adrian scowled and flew down at once, landing on both feet.
"Stormie, I'm a different person now."
"Please. Let me help!" Stormie ran after him. Stopping from leaving. "I am your sister. Out of everybody in the world, I'm closest to you. I feel guilty about what's happening to you. I'm unable to sleep!"
"Close your eyes, girl! You'll sleep!" Adrian barked at her. "Stop bothering me."
"You're going to be fine."
She persuaded in a calm tone.
"I'm never going to be fine!"
"I am the mirror of your opposite. I understand you."
"Really? So you do?" He glared at her with a hand on his head. He rubbed on his front hair with fury, turning to Stormie. "I am a monster now. No one would want to go to prom with me because girls don't go to prom with a werewolf!"
"Okay... First, I know a ton of girls who would love to go to prom with a werewolf. I can hook you up."
Adrian folded his arm on his chest and hissed with contempt. Stormie was always the freak. He just had to listen.
"And second, I am your sister. I will not let go easily just because you say no. This is my area of prowess." She explained, moving closer. "I know people who would help us. Intelligent and competent people. Highly trained professionals.
Adrian's mouth gave a down curve, and his thick eyebrow furrowed together. "Like, for real?" An exasperated sigh escaped him.
"Yeah, they are experts, I promise. What frightens us today is exactly the same sort of thing that frightened us yesterday. It's just a different wolf, remember? Let me be a part of your healing process."
"Okay. I agree with you. Let's do this as a family. A gracious grin like a Cheshire cat spread across his lips as he stepped inside.
Stormie smirked at him, "Who would have believed that you'd be the werewolf and not me, huh?" an envious look covered her face as she followed him in.
