"There is no end to this!"
Dal held his flute tightly as it changed back into a hair tie before it gradually transformed into a long, flat sword with sharp edges that sent off the verendus in pieces.
But no matter how often he swings his sword, the verendus keeps multiplying itself like crazy.
There is no doubt that this is the first time Dal has faced a more troublesome monster than himself.
"Glob! Glob!"
Thus, whenever the monster made such a noise, Dal could not help but grit his teeth while fuming angrily.
'Annoying…'
He didn't even try to pay attention to the other things and locked his attention on the verendus that has a body and features like a melting candle, and whenever the liquid drips down on its body and reaches the ground, it will just form another monster that looks exactly like him.
When it tried to strike Dal with his hands that were shifted into a sharp knife, Dal immediately blocked it with his sword, but then he lost his balance and failed to block the attack that almost cut his body in half as he stumbled because of the great impact.
"Ha, is that all you've got?!"
When Dal fell back from the verendus, he heard the mocking tone of the voice of a familiar girl, the same height as Khalid, with bobbed hair and skin that was paler than the pile of snow.
Seeing her snicker made his blood boil even more, and his hands were itchy enough to strangle her to death.
'This bitch! '
His thoughts were full of malice, but he could still maintain a calm expression on his face.
"Ha-"
He took a deep breath before he spoke.
"Is that?"
He mocks back with a grinning face that makes her stomp her feet in anger as they both emit a deadly, murderous aura that surrounds the area.
'Argh!! I hate him! '
Zev then burst out tons of poisonous flesh-eating butterflies that were colored in a deep purple of despair that flew in the air and ate the verendus mercilessly. And Dal is not an exception; he even turns vad and charges toward the verendus like a reckless person, but all his moves are elegant as if he were dancing so beautifully with his sword under the big full moon. But whenever he made those moves, a thought was stuck in his mind that made him more entertained than tired.
'I want to kill her! '
He jumped in the air as if he were floating and let his sword emit blue light before it struck the verendus a thousand times; it even rained a million swords that pierced into the verendus body, and the flaming fire ate the whole of him, and its doppelgangers after the main culprit, who wears a long cloak who was hiding behind the tree, was pierced on the spot before he could even escape from the scene.
*Clap!*
*Clap!*
After witnessing everything, Zev's applause echoed in the area, but not because she felt amused by Dal's ability; instead, she looked at him with judging mockery eyes while covering her mouth as she snickered quietly in front of him like a hyena, as she was sitting on the big white snake with shiny scales. That was floating in midair.
"Kekeke, are you perhaps... T.I.R.E.D.?"
She mocked while grinning; seeing Dal tremble while his sword that was pierced the ground after he succeeded in executing the verendus with a multiplying ability made Zev want to make fun of him even more.
"Tsssk!"
Dal sneered and gently grabbed his sword as it turned into a plain-looking hair tie that was similar to the color of the sky before he tied it back to his hair.
He then gave Zev a stare with a smug smile on his face before he responded calmly, but enough to leave her feeling infuriated.
"Instead of making fun of something..."
He said it in midsentence as he looked at her from head to toe.
"How about you learn how to grow some height?"
Dal replied in a coarse tone of his serene voice that made him sound more mature than Zev, who was always trying to pick a fight with Dal, considering that he was a hundred years younger than her.
That's when Zev finally snapped and attacked Dal. She punched him as hard as she could, but it just left Dal shrugging his shoulders while quietly laughing at her action.
"Wah~ what is this? An ant bite?"
He teased while Zev caught her breath after throwing multiple punches at Dal's liver a thousand times.
She even gasped before shouting like a maniac.
"Die, you bastard!"
Her action made Dal laugh, and to think that the war was finally over made him overjoyed, hoping that he could see Khalid after a gruesome war.
'This shit is finally over; wait for me there, milord!'
A smile was painted on his face without paying attention to Zev, who kept punching him everywhere with all her might.
However, the galad smile on his face quickly vanished after seeing the knight from the palace drive in their direction while riding a jet-black horse.
It was so fast that it quickly reached the two, and after he stopped, both of them noticed his face, which was contorted with fear.
"C-commander…"
He panted before he continued to speak.
"The people in the palace are in danger!"
He reported to Dal, who was the commander of Khalid's wing and the responsible one for protecting Khalid and his kingdom.
After hearing it, they both made a solemn expression, as if no one had expected that a crisis would happen only after the war ended a minute later.
It was already dawn when they reached the palace, and Zev's face was painted in disgust after seeing how the spacious hospital that had just been renovated a few weeks ago had turned into a graveyard.
Lots of patients looked like rotting corpses; their bodies were so skeletal that bones were becoming more visible; their skin also looked dry, along with their eyes, so much so that worms even bothered to make a feast with their flesh as they groaned in immense pain.
"What in the world is happening here?"
Dal caught everyone's attention, but they just looked at him, and none of them answered.
"Ha, I could tell the same."
Zev added while avoiding the patient's family's dejected appearance as they heard them wailing in sorrow as they watched their family member cough blood, rotting on their bed.
Meanwhile, when Erwin received a report from Dal, he hurriedly ran to find Khalid and went straight to the tent where he was staying, where his heavy stomping could be heard from afar.
"MILORD!-"
He screamed as he rushed to step inside, but before he could even take a step forward, Erwin's soul almost detached from his body when Khalid threw his bayonet in his direction. Luckily, the bayonet was stabbed in the piece of wood beside him, which made him zip his mouth while his feet were left glued to the ground.
He was left in a stiff position while looking at Khalid with a poker expression while his index finger was covered in his mouth, signaling him to be quiet and to shut his mouth.
Erwin nods continuously, seeing how Lillibet sleeps peacefully on his thighs while Khalid continues to sit on the bed for hours.
Before Erwin made his report, he sighed and even checked his heart, looking seriously into his eyes.
"M-milord…"
He stopped and swallowed his saliva before he continued.
"The kingdom is in ruins!"
He exclaimed quietly.
After hearing it from Erwin, Khalid's expression was as cold as ever, but still, Erwin could feel annoyance in his tone of voice as he tried to avoid Khalid's stare that was piercing him.
"You've got to be kidding me."
He stated with a chilly tone and expression, leaving Erwin inside the tent to be suffocated when he emitted a much darker aura of wrath that also made Lillibet, who was sleeping peacefully, cough immensely while feeling drowned in the deep sea as if someone were pulling the both of them into the pit bottom of the ocean.
