Chapter 36 - Thirty-six ~ Evelyn

We had an incredible afternoon visiting landmarks - including the Petite Palais, Place de la Concorde and the Louvre - and sampling tasty treats from bakeries and cafés.

Our guide, Stella, was so accommodating and didn't even bat an eyelid at the chaos Heidi brought. She has kept tomorrow clear for us and said to just ask for her when we're ready.

I find Adrian sitting on the sofa in our room when I return from the shower wrapped in a fluffy towel.

"Good afternoon gorgeous." Ade stalks over, resting his large hands on my hips. "How was your day?"

"It was amazing!" I lean back in his hold to gaze up at his handsome features, "Heidi bought a baguette, wanting to have a sword fight with Adam. But, when he declined she chased him down the street until he tripped and she attacked him with the bread."

Adam swiftly surrendered, faking his death to satisfy Heidi. The lad suffered no harm during the onslaught and Heidi still ate the baguette.

The corners of Ade's lips quirk upwards, dimpling his cheeks as he shakes his head, "Sounds a lot more entertaining than my meetings."

"How'd they go?" I ask through giggles.

"Straightforward, everything was discussed and agreed upon without any arguments." He runs a hand over the curve of my ass, leaving fires in his wake. "But, I would have preferred to have spent the time with you."

"Well we have all night!" I cup his chiselled cheek and he leans into my small hand. "What do I need to wear to dinner?"

"You'd look perfect in anything you put on." When I roll my eyes at his flirtatious compliment and wink, he continues, "A casual evening dress is probably the way to go."

"Oh, that reminds me! Whose clothes are in the wardrobe?" I blurt out, recalling the clothes I found earlier.

"They're for you. Once Liz heard about our trip, she insisted on having a few outfits delivered to the hotel for you."

"Really! She didn't have to do that!" It's a really generous gesture, but they've all done too much for me already.

"No, but she wanted to. I believe she rather enjoyed shopping for you."

"Okay. Could you please thank her for me, I really appreciate her kindness." I don't have her contact details yet, I must ask for them next time I see her.

"Of course. Now go get dressed before I pull that towel off and carry you to the bed." His darkened eyes fuel a devious grin, sending me quickly on my way before I jump onto the bed myself.

He slaps my ass as I walk away. The sting ignites a jolt of desire and I have to bite my lip to suppress it.

Walking over to the section of the wardrobe displaying Lizzie's clothing selection, I excitedly start planning my outfit.

After much deliberation and adoring every item of clothing like a kid in a sweet shop, I select a silk, blood red number with spaghetti straps.

It hugs my torso and butt like a gorgeous second skin before flowing down to my ankles. A daring slit runs up to my mid-thigh, tempting fate more than I usually would.

To ensure the hem of the dress is lifted off the floor, I slip into a pair of nude heels.

I sit with Heidi whilst we do our makeup.

"You know what would go perfectly with that dress? A red lippy!" Heidi waves a red lipstick as she shuffles closer.

"I don't know. It's such a bold colour, it might be too much." I like my subtle makeup, it's difficult to mess up.

"Nonsense! You'll look amazing."

Knowing she won't give up, I nod as I release a anxious sigh.

Quickly getting to work, she squeals and claps her hands together as she pulls away.

I turn to assess the foreign reflection staring back at me. Between my dress, hair and lipstick, there's a lot of red screaming at me, filling me with unease.

Recognising my internal conflict, Heidi gently massages my shoulder and offers to style my hair as a distraction.

She manages to transform my long hair into flawless looses curls. I can't help but watch in awe as I sway my hair side to side.

"Thank you." Heidi always knows how to help.

We stand next to each other in front of a full-length mirror. Heidi is wearing a gold skater dress with matching gold eyeshadow and stilettos.

Beside my beautiful bestie, I feel less out of place and try to get acquainted with my unfamiliar appearance.

Yanking my hand, Heidi drags me to the lounge.

My gaze instantaneously finds Ade's crystal eyes. They're leisurely raking over my body, leaving flames in their wake.

We gravitate towards each other until we're only inches apart, wrapping me in his intoxicating scent.

Ade's wearing black trousers, a fitted white shirt and a minimalistic burgundy blazer that extenuates his broad shoulders.

My heart flutters with my bee as we take in the unbelievably handsome man in front of us.

Ade eventually breaks the electric silence with a breathy whisper, "You look absolutely stunning."

"Thank you, your sister has impeccable taste." My confidence grows with each millimetre his pupils dilate and I fiddle with the lapels on his blazer.

Grasping the material tighter, I pull him down to me, crashing our lips together.

His hand cups my cheek, pulling me closer to deepen the kiss.

Ade nibbles on my bottom lip, dissolving my desire to prevent any lipstick smudges. I can deal with them after.

A desperate grip on my hip entices a moan. Ade greedily swallows all of them, coaxing more from me with his tongue.

I melt into his unyielding hold as my heart adopts its own rhythm. Ade's does the same as it drums against my hands.

He reluctantly pulls back, pressing a final kiss to the tip of my nose.

Examining his soft lips, I find no evidence of lipstick. That's hopeful…

Heidi clears her throat, making me acutely aware of our company.

"If you two have finished sucking each others' face off, shall we go?" She comments snidely.

"Um, yes, of course. Sorry." I trip over my words, dropping my gaze to the carpet.

Ade lifts my chin with his finger. "Don't worry about it."

I caress my flushed cheeks wondering how Ade can be so nonchalant. "Does it not bother you?"

"No." Ade moves his hand over mine with a smile, "I could kiss you in front of the whole world and still only think of you."

The bee commences relentless laps in my chest as my cheeks heat further.

My lips don a smile and I follow him to the door.

Before leaving, I check my lipstick in the mirror. Miraculously, there's not a single smudge. I should ask Heidi what the brand is.

Joining the others by the lift, Ade claims my hand with his, bringing it to his lips to press a kiss to my knuckles.

I grin shamelessly as I lean against him. This man makes me feel more powerful than I ever thought was possible.
