Year Later
"Fenris"
"Fenris, wake up"
"I don't wanna"
The cover was snatched off him, he gasped at the sudden feeling of the cold. His eyes shot open, he glared daggers at Magenta who stood over him with a smirk.
"I wouldn't have to do this if you just get up" she commented with a shrug
Before Fenris could say something back, she walked to the closet in the other room, he groaned rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He stood up from the floor, and the familiar sound of his bones breaking greeted him.
"What's today?" He groaned walking to the fridge
"Sunday" she called from the other room
"What?! Why did you wake me up so early? It's like.." he peeked outside to still see it's about dawn "6:00 am"
"I'm going shopping, you wanted to get new clothes didn't you?"
His mood perked up at this, he ran to the room Magenta was in and hugged her.
"Really! This is awesome! This is the best!" He cheered
"Well, I'm glad you're excited now go get dressed" she chuckled
He dashed to the closet in the room same room, he took out a faded red Nike shirt and a pair of blue jeans. He dashed into the bathroom, took a quick shower, and bolted out fully clothed.
Magenta waited in the car for him, Fenris grabbed his jacket and ran to the car.
"Let's start on our shopping adventure" she smiled and drove off to shoe carnival
Fenris leans on his hand as he started it out the car window, this wasn't his first time going to the store but they rarely did, Magenta didn't have a lot of money. The clothes he has been worn and old color faded, but he was gratefully anyway. He didn't dare complain, the clothes he wore were from Magenta's son.
He was killed long before he came around, it was sad to find out that the night before her son; Alexander died, they got into an argument. Magenta didn't go into detail about what the argument was about or how it started but Alexander stormed out, she was later called by the police the next morning to find out that Alexander drowned in a lake near there, the police said it was an accidental drowning but Magenta says otherwise. She was broken about it for a long time, she told him that Fenris is like a son to her.
Magenta is like his second mother to Fenris, so that is why he never complained about the clothes he was wearing because he knew how it felt to lose someone close to you.
"Fenris, I have something to give you" she suddenly said her eyes never leaving the road
"What is it?" He asked curiously
"It's in the glove compartment"
He opened the glove compartment and shuffles through the paper and napkins, he found a medium-sized black box.
"Is this it?" He asked holding up the box
"Yeah" she confirmed after a quick glance
He put it in his lap and looked at it, he carefully opened it. Inside was a necklace with a crystal hanging at the end, it was dim. Now, that he was really looking at it. The whole box looked grim and dusty, it looked like no one touched it till now.
Despite it's apparent he couldn't help but like the gift but it still baffled him why he was receiving it.
"Why are you giving me this?"
"You've been living with me for three years now, I trust you enough to carry this family heirloom" she smiled
"But why me? I don't think I'm responsible enough to and I'm not blood?" He nervously said
She only continued to smile "you don't have to be related to being family, I know you're up for the task if I didn't do you think I'll give this to you?" She reassured him
"But-"
"No buts, I won't take 'no' for an answer," she said sternly
He gave a wide smile and put it around his neck "thank you"
"No problem, now let's have a good day shall we?"
"Yeah, what could go-"
Suddenly, the car jerked left and the smell of burnt tires filled the air, the car they were in toppled over on its side. Fenris's head slammed against the car window from the force of the car, the impact of his head cracked the window.
He instantly went limp, Magenta was in no better condition she was bleeding from her head and she was also motionless, she hung to the side the blood from her head dropped on Fenris's jacket. The siren of an ambulance became louder, the two were quickly removed from the crash.
They were moved with urgency, they were loaded into the ambulance and taken to the closest hospital. Fenris was separated from Magenta, he was brought to a hospital room. The doctor did a topical checkup, to see what they need to work with.
On his right eye was a scar, where a glass shard fortunately only grazed, it'll still leave a scar, however. He also has a concussion, the doctor did his job and treated his patient.

Fenris ground as he slowly opened his eyes, the smell of medicine made him quickly sit up. Which alarmed the nurse that was in his room, he clucked his head feeling dizzy suddenly.
"Sir, please calm down," the nurse says gently as she slowly pushes his back down
" where is Magenta!?" He argued
The nurse's mood went sour, this alarmed him. His heart started beating fast, and his breathing escalated.
"Where is she?!? I want to see her!?" He shouted sitting up
"Sir, please calm down!"
"No!, let me see Magenta!"
"Sir, Magenta Jackson passed yesterday morning" she finally said solemnly
His eyes widened and filled with tears "no, it can't be" he cried
"She died by fatal trauma to the Head, she died on impact" she further explained
"Shit, this can't be happening" he sobbed his hands on his face
He unconsciously went for the necklace around his neck, only to find himself grasping at air, the feeling of panic came over him.
"We're the necklace?!" He asked looking around
"What necklace?" The nurse asked
"I had it during the crash, it's a dim blue crystal" he explained distressed
He looked around the room longer and Spotted it, on the bedside table. He grabbed it and held it in his hands, he couldn't help but start crying again. He felt like a curse, first, his mom died, and now Magenta. It was like he was meant to be alone and all that cared for him is meant to die.
He put the necklace around his neck, finding that a better place to keep it than cradled in his hands, the next few days were a blur. He couldn't remember much besides the daily doctor checks and doses of medicine.
The day finally came around for him to be released from the hospital but not without Child services showing up, he was escorted to a black car outside the hospital. His once bright and lively eyes dimmed, they almost looked lifeless.
He sat quietly in the back seat of the car, the child services agent was explaining what was going to happen to him but he wasn't at all paying attention. He just aimlessly stared out the window, with a lost expression. They stopped by his house, they seemed genuinely surprised he lived in Forest in a cabin.
Fenris sulks out of the car and slowly made his way into the house, it felt so wrong to be here without Magenta with him. He felt like an intruder in his own home, he picked up the clothes that Magenta let him use. He felt the faded fabric in his hands and creased it, this was like stealing these clothes that didn't belong to him, yet his taking them away from their owner.
Fenris came back out of the house and to the awaiting child services agents, he got back into the car. He looked out the window he watched as everything he once called home was taken away from him again.
"you're going to love it at BlackBerry Wood orphanage" the female agent reassured
"..."
"Their very nice there, I'm sure you'll get along with the kids there"
"..."
After a while, she stopped talking getting the hint, that he was going to talk back to her. The trip felt like it took hours and it did take hours, it took 9 hours to get to the orphanage.
Fenris looked at the medium-sized building made of brick, he was escorted into the building. At the entrance was a lady mid-50s, she was a white lady.
She has grey strands of hair peeking through her brown hair, she smiled at them as they entered.
"Hello, I miss Molly, I'm the caretaker of the orphanage" she greeted them
"I didn't expect you to come so late, Everyone ate dinner already so I hope you are not hunger" she stated "Julian, will take you to your room"
She gestured to a light-skinned chubby boy, who was standing by the entrance to what he assumed is a living room. Fenris wordlessly nods and approached Julian, it was clear to him Julian didn't want to be the one to show him to his new room.
Julian silently escorted Fenris to his new living space, the orphanage didn't have a lot of rooms, so Fenris had to share a room with Julian.
"Here are some ground rules" Julian suddenly spoke up when they entered the small room
"No, going on my side of the room, No waking me up from my sleep and No touching my stuff" he ordered he pointed to his side of the room
"His" side of the room had a small bed twin-sized maybe a little smaller, he had a trunk in Infront of the bed frame. Fenris looked over to his side and saw the exact same this but his covers were grey, not blue like Julian's, Fenris walked to his trunk and started to store all "his" clothes in the trunk.
He didn't feel like changing clothes, so he decided to just sleep in the outfit he already had on. He pulled the covers onto the floor and the pillow, and he laid his head on the pillow. He lay covered up in the blanket, he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
