Chereads / Her dearly detested husband / Chapter 2 - The wedding

Chapter 2 - The wedding

It was very early in the morning, but the sun was already shining bright. She held her gown fidgeting and often she bit her lip nervously.

Her mind wasn't at peace as she moved around the room nervously.

The door opened and a woman in her 40s entered the room.

"Nova"

The woman called to the nervous girl in the room.

"Mum"

Nova softly murmured.

"Sweetheart, why are you nervous. Don't try to get the gown stained."

The woman smiled at her younger daughter.

"Mom, am scar..ed"

Nova bit her lip as her eyes welled up with tears.

"What if things don't work out as planned?"

She asked still fidgeting and clasping her dress.

She couldn't hold the tears any longer. They rolled down her cheeks.

"Darling, he'll understand. And perhaps, it's just two weeks of acting okay"

The woman said as she approached Nova and pat her.

The girl hugged her mom tight, and the woman felt a lump in her throat.

Of the two sisters, Nova had always been the calm, sweet, perfect daughter. While her elder sister was courageous, and had sharper features compared to Nova..

She sighed as she felt pity for her daughter.

"Come on babe, don't get the gown ruined. Just behave normal. You're doing this for Sara, remember?"

The woman pat Nova as she spoke to her.

Nova nodded then tried to compose herself. Hearing her sister's name made her calm a bit.

"Alright mom, thank you"

Nova smiled at her Mother as she sniffed.

The woman patted the girl finally then giving her an encouraging smile, she left Nova alone in the room..

Nova took a deep breath as she closed her eyes.

'Everything will be fine Nova'

She kept on reassuring herself even when she knew it wouldn't be.

The large doors opened. Her heart kept beating at a fast rate. She tried her best to calm her pounding heart, but it seemed impossible.

Her father held her hand as they walked down the aisle.

The hall screamed of luxury, but contrary to that, the atmosphere was somewhat heavy.

The congregation stood up to acknowledge her presence.

The more she moved her legs, the more tense the atmosphere became. She wanted to pull off the veil and run away.

But that would be stupid.

She already promised Sara to stay in her place.

She sighed. Lost in her thoughts, she didn't realize she had gotten to the altar.

She swallowed and looked up.

Then she saw him.

Raven Dade.

The CEO of the R.D company.

He was feared by all, but then she wondered how her sister managed to fall in love with him.

He looked sinfully beautiful as a smile washed his lips. For a second or so, she halted. Yes she had met so many men, both in her school, but he was totally in a different level.

She gulped as she stood opposite of him.

If only he knew it wasn't his supposed wife coming to him.

He winked at her.

She used her hand to adjust the veil on her head.

His brows twitched as he watched her.

She was acting really strange.

But he shrugged his shoulders as he kept on looking at her.

"You may kiss the bride"

The Reverend said to Raven.

This was the moment she feared the most. He approached her with a smile on his face, and as he was about to unveil her, a sharp cry was heard in the congregation.

And then loud cries followed.

Nova became happy, this was the distraction she needed.

She took steps back. And soon, the congregation was in chaos.

She turned to see people running around the hall.

And she heaved a sigh.

But her heart skipped as he approached her.

She escaped now, he wasn't going to kiss her as a distraction was on.

But for how long would he be distracted?

Wouldn't he take her home?

She dreaded that thought.

The wedding was over.

And Nova was the happiest.

She had said her final greetings to her family with her mom Patting her while reassuring her. But the more she looked at him, her heart couldn't stop racing. He held a deadly look.

He grabbed her waist and pulled her closer to himself.

Then they walked to the direction of his car and got in ignoring the paparazzi asking all sorts of questions.

The car accelerated with the driver at the front, while she sat next to Raven.

"Are you alright?"

She heard his gentle voice.

She turned to him and nodded.

But Raven found that strange. He found everything about her strange.

"Then why does it seem like you are not?"

He asked now inching closer to her.

She coughed hard with the thought of him getting close to her.

He watched her coughing, but didn't even move an inch.

He stared at her suspiciously and turned his face away from her. Her heart had been racing ever since she entered the wedding hall. But he didn't care about any of that. He was married now, that was all that mattered.

She was surprised by his gesture.

'Am I acting so suspiciously?'

She scolded herself then turned her face away from him.

Soon, the car stopped.

She noticed they were in an estate.

A very luxurious one at that.

The securities opened the gate and they got into the estate until they got to a house.

The only house in the estate so far.

The car drove into the luxurious compound until it finally stopped.

Taking a peek from the window, she gaped at the extravagant house. Though she had been hinted that he was a very wealthy man, this was just too much.

Raven came out of the car, then moving to the other side, he opened the door for her to come out.

"Thank you"

She murmured as she gulped.

Then he held her hand and pulled her into the building.

The guards and maids all knelt down immediately he got to where they stood until they stopped at the door of a room.

With one push, the door was opened.

The room was coated black; same with the building.

And it gave off a moody vibe.

But that wasn't what caught her attention. The room was massive and lavishly furnished.

She could bet that just the chair could buy her parent's estate.

"Won't you sit?"

He asked her with a smirk on his face.

She checked the room, but it was void of chairs.

'Was he talking about sitting on the bed?'

She asked herself.

Moving her legs, she got to the bed and sat down.

"More like it dear. Please pull off your clothes, let's be fast with this"

He said as he started unbuttoning his shirt.

Nova's heart skipped a beat as her eyes widened.

Her face flushed red, but he couldn't see it due to the veil covering her face.

"What? You promised to give me your virginity on our wedding night. Let's be fast"

He added looking at her with a perked brow.

Nova swallowed hard as she heard him.

Her eyes welled up.

Before she could blink again, he was only in his boxers.

"Alright then, I'll help you"

With one stride, he was already standing before her.

Then he wrapped his arms around her head and loosened the veil, until it fell off her head.

"Fuck"

He cursed seeing the person behind the veil.
