To the horror of Mr Santos and the guard turned waiter who had served the drink, Miss Emily Han drank the whole glass of champagne in one go.
Oblivious to the schemes of Mr Santos, Lucas shrugged and motioned for the other waiter that passed to give him a glass of the drink on his tray.
Mr Santos broke out in cold sweat when Emily's eyebrows furrowed. Only he knew the exremeties he went to to get a potent poison, one that was capable of killing the target in less than five minutes.
The single glass of champagne was mixed with the whole portion of poison!!
It was no doubt that the poison was already taking effect, Emily's sudden change in disposition clearly showing that.
After taking the champagne, Emily started feeling uneasy, a burning sensation starting from her stomach and spreading to the other parts of her body.
Acting like he didn't notice the change in Emily's disposition, he continued to pretend like Lucas had his full attention.
"Haaaaa!", Emily suddenly screamed attracting the attention of most people who was around her. Lucas who was the closest to her thought that it was another excuse to get his attention, however, when he saw that she discarded her crystal encrusted bag, his attention shifted from Mr Santos to Emily.
Tessa was tapped soon after Emily's cry for help, "hey, isn't that Emily, what's up with her, she's going to stain her gown!!", The class B model said admiring Emily's dress.
Alarmed, Tessa turned to see Emily writhing in discomfort. "Are you okay!!", Lucas asked Emily who appeared that she was in discomfort.
" Miss Emily!", "This is not a freaking joke Emily!!!", Tessa said lifting Emily on the floor as she was already vomiting some sort of white foam.
" Somebody call an ambulance!!", Tessa screamed, "Theyre on their way!", Lucas said to Tessa who's eyes was already brimming with tears.
Disregarding her ten thousand dollar dress which was encrusted in crystal, Emily's vision was already turning hazy as she committed a white substance, her complexion turning pale by the second.
Scared, shaking and fearing the worst, Tessa screamed, " Stay with me Emily, Stay with me!!!, Shit, shit, shit, shit, open your fucking eyes Em, open your eyes Emily!!", Tessa screamed as Lucas helped to pick her up and onto the stroller provided by the ambulance.
Rushing out of the building, the paramedics gave her the first aid and other things she needed to stall the situation till they got to the hospital.
Tessa's makeup turned foggy as she ha adjust cried her eyes out before the paramedics got to the event on time.
"Oh my God!", " is she going to be okay?!", "what happened to her?!", " she was fine some minutes ago!?", "was she sick!?", " I hope she gets better!".
Instead of being sorry that Emily had unfortunately taken the drink mixed with poison, the family man turned maniac was boiling that the scheme didn't go as planned.
Madam Petras's grand arrival wasn't due until later that night, however she had to make an appearance earlier than planned for the mood of the party to change.
Hearing word from Craig, Lucas's assistant, Madam Petras reassured the guests that Emily was doing fine and she had a minor incident. She didn't want to relay the original cause as she didn't want to cause a stir at her own party.
The party returned to its previous state, however that didn't mean the guests still didn't talk about it in hushed tones even after Madam Petras requested to forget the issue.
The ambulance were soon at the hospital, Craig trailing behind with Lucas's car. They had to go into surgery immediately as they didn't know what the cause of her condition was.
The theatre lights soon switched on, Tessa, Craig and Lucas sitting outside, waiting for any sort of news regarding Emily's condition.
"What do you think might have happened!?", Lucas asked wondering the reason behind Emily's sudden outburst of pain.
" I have absolutely no idea. She was just fine when she was getting her hair and makeup done, and she was just fine when she was posing on the red carpet!", Tessa said bursting into another round of tears.
The doctors finally detected large amounts of poison in Emily's bloodline. It took some time, but they were finally able to get most of the poison out of her system.
They decided to continue the rest of the extraction after she woke up. The extraction went on for hours before the operation lights turned off.
"It's okay, I think you can head back now, I'll take it from here!", Tessa offered. Tired and needing his sleep, Lucas agreed, ordering Craig to stay behind to ensure everything goes well.
On the other side of town, Audrey decided to check the wall clock one more time before she went to sleep.
Lucas had said he would come hack form the function by ten pm, Elated and looking forward to the night they were going to spend together in her apartment, Audrey got home some minutes after nine pm.
She had gotten groceries, intending to prepare something light. She freshened up soon after, wearing comfortable pajamas, she headed to the kitchen to prepare dinner for both of them.
However , after waiting for hours, Audrey started dozing off, well that was until she dozed off.
Getting home, Lucas removed his bow tie, groaning out of tiredness, he saw Amber, his sister catching up on her favorite show on TV.
" Huh, did you forget something?", Amber asked, surprised to see Lucas as he had made plans to sleep at Audrey's.
"Why do I have to forget something in my own house?", Lucas replied her question with his question. " Aren't you supposed to sleep at Audrey's?", Amber asked, Lucas suddenly recalling that he had far more important engagemts which he totally forgot to attend to.
"Ooh shit!", Lucas said realising that he had forgotten that he made plans with Audrey.
