The following day, the girls were quick to wake up, in hopes to use the bathroom first. Audrey knew this and she already devised a solution, "waking up far earlier and bathing at that time is sure to reduce the time we will all need to get ready" she reasoned the previous night.
Due to her thoughts before she slept, Audrey woke up a few minutes after dawn, she enjoyed a long shower and got back to her room to pick the clothes she'd wear. She wore her clothes on the bathroom, she fixed her hair and got back to thee room to catch some sleep.
While Nelly, Patricia and Hyacinth were scrambling to get ready, Aubrey came down from the top bunk fully dressed. She caught her room mates by surprise, "aren't you supposed to take your bath before changing into fresh clothes?" hyacinth asked in disbelief,"ohh that.." Aubrey said raiding her sleeves looking at them before she continued, " I woke up early to have my bath".
"Ohh okay!", "it saves time though" Pat and Nelly said almost at the same time. "Okay everybody, let's get our things ready in thirty minutes, we don't want to be late for the first class" Nelly said.
Their first class wasn't really a class per say, it was more of an orientation than a class. The orientation spanned all the departments, it was no wonder why students would see a whole lot of people pass by them.
For the office management students, they led them to places of their own concern, they couldn't possibly take them to the laboratories, because as of the moment it was not their concern. They visited most offices that they would have access to, they showed them the bookstore and the restaurants within the campus
"Wow, the school is so big, so many faculties" Patricia said as the body of students disassembled since they were done with the tour," I totally agree" replied Nelly", "I wonder if there's any cafe where we could get coffee" hyacinth said after a long time.
The girls went to the coffee shop talking about the different departments they passed by. The next class they had was more fit to be called a class, it was their first official class, the girls were surprised that the number of students would be that much.
During the class they sat together, since they weren't familiar with any other person. They were urged to be serious, basically they were given the same pep talk they heard when they were leaving high school. After what seemed like hours which was just ten minutes, they discussed about office management.
Days passed and they had already spent a week away from the comforts of their home, away from their family and friends, in a new environment, another step preparing them to live independently. Regardless, the girls didn't allow that to dampen their moods instead, it was a fun experience for the girls.
In the short down of time, they had started to understand each other, they had started to adjust to their new living environment. Unlike some of the other girls who were used to bugger living spaces, the dorm which was much smaller enabled them to live with the smaller spaces.
During the same period of time, Aubrey was able to infer the attitude, characters and behaviors of her roommates, she noticed Hyacinth was the most beautiful, but in contrast to her face and her body shape, she was the one who ate the most out of the four. It seemed to Audrey that Hyacinth came from a well to do family. She seemed to like fashion a lot, throughout the while week, she had corrected the girls outfits at least twice.
She observed Patricia to be the one with the longest hair, she was the talkative, she updates her roommates about certain news in their departments and that of others. She noticed she was probably from a rich family. She was the most fashionable and she fawned at guys she deemed pretty.Of course, some times in the week, she would fawn at handsome guys that passed them either on their way to the lecture room or on their way back to their dormitories.
Nelly was the room leader, supervisor, manager, captain or whatever you want to put it as. She made decisions to the benefit of the room mates, Aubrey deduced that she had nice leadership skills, which was very surprising as she was the last child. She talked to her mother everyday, Aubrey guessed it would take a long time before she was past the stage.
The girls decided to call their parents after the first week which they did, Aubrey picked her phone to call her mother, she was very surprised to hear her mother pick the phone during the first ring, "hi mom, how have you been, I've missed you"," I missed you too darling, hope everything is fine over there, please don't get into any trouble", Georgia said, concerned for her daughter.
"I hear you mom", Aubrey said, hearing her mother cough, she continued," mom, are you sick?", " no my dear, it's nothing serious, Im just coughing to clear my voice. "Alright my dear, take care of yourself,I love you so much dear, at the same time have fun" Georgia said before she heard Audrey reply her,"good night mom!". With that she cut the call.
She worried for her mother, things must have been hard on her, her dad died and then she's in college, she must be all alone," I should visit her sometime" she mumbled. After contacting their families, the girls decided to talk about their experience so far, when they were done with their little chat, they went to bed.
After Aubrey went to college, Georgia was alone, she didn't want to think about it so she started working overtime, what she didn't know was that she was stressing herself far too much.
When her daughter called, she was just getting back from work, she burst out in tears after hearing her daughter's voice. It somewhat seemed like a reminder of her loneliness. Tears seemed to flow endlessly as she recalled the memories they shared when her husband was still alive. That seemed to be the happiest moment of her life. She shook her head in defeat, she knew she must learn to live withe fact that her daughter had become a young woman
