Chapter 4 - Satis Fue: villain’s right-hand man.

Satis kept explaining to Lilian about her abilities and the importance of testing their connection. Being in a master and ghost-familiar relationship requires both parties to work on developing their own powers so that they can channel each other's magic. As said earlier, ghost familiars are spiritual creatures who have access not only to their own advantages but also to a cosmic power - which is the reason mages from Northern Magusward Academy summon them as familiars in the first place. A familiar with cosmic force has the ability to telekinesis and mathematically calculate the cosmic past. They may also predict future probabilities of the cosmos. In addition, a ghost familiar might be able to control another creature's will, emotions, or mental power. Though not every ghost has this talent, those who do are often excellent at channeling their powers with mages. Some of the most famous mages had ghost familiars with one of these abilities.

- Oh, but that isn't all, - Satis sighed as he spoke – It is said that ghost familiars can recognize the soul of the most significant people from their former life who has reincarnated in our world. Perhaps I had a large part in your previous existence if your spirit is drawn to me.

- Yeah, I don't think I would say you were THAT significant. - Lilian reclined in the chair she could finally shape out of the part of her amorphous body. – Better, look at this, - she switches his attention away from the topic, - I'm a f**king Genie! - she proudly exclaims, demonstrating her ability to turn a portion of herself into a plush rabbit and then reverse it with several other items in between. Stopped at an elegant hat with a few stray feathers on it, and put it on. She rises to inspect her new appearance in the mirror and the chair she was sitting on vanishes. – I'm sure that Aladdin's Genie was also a ghost familiar. Unlike him, I don't intend to bring anybody's desires to life though; - she laughed as she glanced at Satis from the mirror, who was perplexed by everything she was saying.

- But, Miss Lilian, you have yet to answer my question. I'm not asking for idle curiosity's sake; rather, I need to know the answer in order to gauge the level of our souls' connection. It is a necessary part of the assignment for summoning a ghost familiar. Furthermore, it would give me an indication as to how much magic power can be channeled between us. So then, can you tell me who we were to each other in your past life? – he inquired as his eyes alight with curiosity.

- If my soul was drawn to you, wouldn't it mean we were close to each other by default? - She replies as she questions herself: "I can't tell a twelve-year-old kid we were married. No matter how smart the child is, it just feels wrong."

- Yes, but I'm still waiting for your reply. - Satis looked mildly annoyed.

- Ok, you were my brother. Happy now? – she added at the spur of the moment.

- Thank you, Miss Lilian. This is very helpful information...

"He went on speaking about how our connection was beneficial and our plan for training. Family relationships apparently have one of the best connections, especially if the ghost familiar is drawn to the master's soul. So, you'd expect Satis to be this enthusiastic about it. What I don't understand is why I can't sleep." - Lilian casts her eyes down to see Satis, who is snoring soundly in the bed, - "Ha, this little smarty-pants got some plump cheeks; bet he's enjoying his dreams," – Lilian thought to herself standing next to the window wall and studying dimly-lit world behind it. - "I wanna sleep too. I'm tired, even though I don't have a physical body anymore. This was one hell of an exhausting day for a ghost" – she looked at Satis once again – "Oh, well, I guess I have a much more serious problem than a gift of insomnia. Why am I drawn to you? It's not like we were deeply in love with each other. We were more of a companionship; you respected me, and I was fine with you taking care of me." – she started recalling their life together - "That's a real head-scratcher for me. As much as I'd like to know why the game I was working on became a part of one of the outer galaxies. Why is my husband reincarnated into a villain's right-hand man? And why is this villain so hot?! This isn't right at all! When I see him, I get controversial emotions." - She sighs, clearly nervous, - "On the one hand, he's an eye candy with a deep voice to seduce you over a single word. On the other, I want to f**king choke him to death!" - she didn't notice as she started suffocating the air.

As the night advanced, Lilian was struggling to remember the details of the game she had designed before.

- It's good I have an infinite terabyte machine for a brain, - she whispered to herself. - There's no need for pen and paper, but memories of my past life are still pretty chaotic. It's like having a human brain memory uploaded to a computer.

She was thinking about the game, which began with Tenebris already being the ultimate evil in the Universe. The game was about two teenagers, a brother, and a sister from planet Stagnum, who would train and fight their way through obstacles to reach and defeat the Boss-level villain - Tenebis. Only when the player reaches Tenebris, his back story is revealed. He was responsible for substituting the current heir's sister and starting the first civil war on Silvius in thousands of years. As a result, an inevitable end of a successful and prosperous planet brought by Tenebris, along with a few of his subordinates. Obviously, one of those subordinates is our fanboy here. Even in the game, he was the players' last target before they could reach the final boss.

- Satis' character was created with aspects of your personality in mind. Is it possible that you are Satis now because of it? - she sighs again, this time barely above a whisper.

As the morning dawns, Lilian is left with her questions and must begin a new day.
