Chapter 6 - Herbs of the world

On the way home, he couldn't stop thinking "What a weird girl" And chuckled after recalling that weird encounter.

It was already dark when he came back. He walked into the living room but found no one. He guessed that's normal because they will have to go to the field early in the morning. He still had the money from selling herbs so he decided to wait a bit. In the meantime, he could read the textbook, which he was going to do anyway. He also took something to eat, lighted a candle, and started reading.

"Herbs of the world" was the title of the book. He decided he will begin with the herb that they have — Dew grass. After a minute or two, he found it.

"Dew Grass — Tier 1 herb

Occurrence: It can be naturally found at the riverbank.

Harvesting: Cut 1-3 cm above the ground.

Obtaining a seedling: excavate with roots.

Cultivation: Naturally expands. Wetlands greatly improve the spreading and growing speed

Known uses: When ground makes a paste that can slightly heal burns. In alchemy added as a supplementary ingredient in tier 1 fire resistance pill."

"Hmm, so if I wanna make most of it, I will somehow have to separate it from the rest of the farm and make it grow on a wetland. If I was on earth I would just use a plastic sheet, but here I will have to make it from stones or maybe wood with some kind of a seal, resin for example" He pondered "First I will have to see how the situation looks on the field. Then I will decide how to proceed." He already know that this book was one of the best investments.

He continued going through the book, searching for something that could help him earn money. A few minutes later he found an interesting position.

"Lustrous Ginseng —Tier 1 herb

Occurrence: Can be found in the forest. Humidity must be quite high. Has to be covered with leaves or in a shaded area. Optimally both.

Harvesting: After maturing (2-3 years) could be just dug out of the ground.

Acquiring a seedling: When maturing produce ten to thirty berries, which are used as seeds.

Cultivation: 32-44 seeds per square meter (3-4 seeds per square foot) in the shaded area.

Requires fertile and moist soil.

Known uses: In alchemy used as the main ingredient in Tier 1 healing pill"

"That would be a great addition to farm and easy money but I would have to wait approximately 3 years to gain a profit, but it can scale exponential. Yes, that's a definite must-have." He decided that he definitely had to have some seeds. After that he decided to continue looking for good herbs, at this moment someone walked in. It was Lifen.

"Mom, here's the money, but I'm sorry, I've used some money to buy this book, but don't worry I'll earn it back." He said while showing her book. "It's okay, I know you wouldn't use the money for something useless."

"Show me that book." I gave it to her and then she sighted "How much did you pay for it?" He answered honestly "I've paid one silver coin for that book" It seems that she was expecting that "Shigh, you little scoundrel, do you know how much would it cost? Getting it with just one coin is almost impossible, normally you would pay around five coins. Of course, we are talking about gold coins, not the silver ones"

I was shocked "Then why did she sell it so cheap?" I asked worried "What can I say, that old hag likes you a lot. Maybe she saw potential in you" He understood that, but to sell something more than five hundred times cheaper? That was too much for him. He decided that he will never forget about that.

"So did you learn something from it?" Lifen asked "Yes! I've learned a lot. I think I'll be able to improve our herb farm. I'll see it tomorrow and think of the way." He replied with a glint in his eyes. "That would be helpful" She smiled.

They talked for a bit and after that, she decided to come back to her bedroom.

"Let us continue our hunt for some good herbs." And so he once again began reading. This time he decided that he will start from the beginning and read page after page. He knew that he will definitely read the whole thing at least once, so there was no point in jumping pages.

Time passed and he decided that it was time to go to the bed. He learned a lot in a very short time. He also found good and easy to cultivate herbs.

"Whiffle Pansy — Tier 1 herb

Occurrence: Grows at hills where you can expect a gentle breeze.

Harvesting: Collect flower.

Acquiring a seedling: Check stem for bulbs. If there's one it must be open and seeds visible. Otherwise, the seeds aren't ready.

Cultivation: Plant in places with no obstructions, that could block the flow of the wind.

Known uses: In alchemy used as a supplementary ingredient in Tier 1 healing pill"

And they are used in healing pills too! He knew that there will be always a need for them. So there will be no problem with selling. He took his book and went to the bedroom.

He went to his bed, at least he thought so. "Wasn't that my bed? But it's already occupied. What should I do?" Did he really forget which one is his? But then he heard murmur "Brother you came back, come your bed is so comfy." So it was his bed. He didn't even think, he quickly changed into pajamas and placed a book under the bed, and lay down. He had this rule about his bed, that he will never give it back. Because it's HIS bed.

He closed his eyes and tried to sleep. But then someone snuggled him. "Comfortable enough?" He asked sarcastically "Yes, your bed is really good, but you're the best." He sighed. "Whatever." and pat her head. Then he looked at her. It was already dark, but from this close, you could see almost everything. She had silky hair, long eyelashes, a small nose, and beautiful lips. Her neck was slender and white like jade. Then he looked down. Her breasts were visible thanks to her sloopy put pajama. You could tell that she was a healthy growing girl. They already had an almost perfect shape. "That's not good, if this continues I'll get a boner." He thought and quickly shut his eyes.

He fell asleep a few minutes later.

==============================

I was wondering how does even look mortal houses in cultivation stories. is it like in medieval times? no pipelines etc? Let me know what you guys think. By the way, I've spent so much time learning about different plants, so I hope my description was close to the real thing. Also thinking about names is a pain in the ass. I don't get it, how these authors create all those herbs.

Anyways, if you like this book, add it to the library and vote with power stones. Thanks.

As always sorry for all my mistakes and have a nice day! :D
