ALEXA'S POV .
" There you are Alexa , how are you darling , Mark told me that the kids were playing that is why you were late but l didn't believe that even one bit " , Just as l was chatting with my daughters , Mey , Henry's wife walked over to us . At her words , l smiled softly while turning my attention to her .
The amazing thing about Mey was that she saw through Mark's lies . Just like Henry her husband , they have always been on my side from the beginning. She was was a bit old and my kids took her like there second mom though we didn't often visit her . ". Chrissy found the paint and well it got over her dress so Mark had a meltdown and told us to come on our own , l hope we haven't messed up anything for you " , l murmured at last .
As an old lady , she gave me a knowing look . ". You can do so much better sweetheart , I don't think you know your worth " , She advised and l only shook my head . if only she knew what l was passing through , she wouldn't have said that . " Dinner is ready if you would like take all your seats " , She added before she walked away from us .
With her gone , l and the kids made our way to the dining table . Most of the billionaires who were invited were seated down with glasses of wine on the dining table . Just as we were also seated down , Mark and Harriet also came from the back hallway . However none of them looked happy . They all looked like they had just had a heated up disagreement over something .
Jessica and Chrissy all sat together but Ivan insistedly sat himself between Adrian and l . I wasn't fine with it but I had nothing to do . I didn't want to make him cry . He was really in to Adrian that even though Adrian's attention was on his phone , he still had his gaze at him , looking at him with love .
With my eyes focused on Mark , I had a thought that he would come over and join us but he sat himself next to Harriet and another man l have never seen before . " Urghhhh " , I shrugged my shoulders while trying my level best not to let it bother me . Soon enough Michelle and Mey served us the dinner and after sitting down , we all began to eat . Through out the dinner , most of the people were talking about business as they laughed . I was alone silent but surprisingly even Adrian wasn't participating in the conversation .
He was instead feeding Ivan and helping him cut the meat in to pieces . As a mother it was my role but now he was helping me the thing which Mark had never done before. Everything was cool but I could feel eyes on me . Right they were chatting but still l could feel it that someone was gazing at me . I didn't look up , l knew who was staring at me . It was either Henry or Mark .
" Mr Adrian what's up , you have been silent throughout " , I felt my heart beat more faster when l heard that question . " Ahh sorry , it's my fault , if l had cared about my kid , he would have been active " , Before Adrian could respond to him , the words firstly tumbled out of my mouth the thing which l regretted later and shyly l smiled at Adrian then looked down at my food .
" So my wife told me that you Mark's wife , what is a woman like you doing with a man like him " , Just as l was continuing with my food , another one broke out the silence and at that my head snapped up to see the man who was speaking to me . " Justin don't be rude , don't say stuff like that " , Michelle instantly intervened . Hearing her say that , realization hit me up . Justin that's the man , Mark has been complaining about at home until when he told me about their new boss . l hope they dislike each other. .
" Am ain't rude , l just wanna know what a beautiful young woman like her is doing with a man like him " , He hissed out again and at that l felt myself become angry . Right Mark treats me like shit but still he is the father of my children . " We have been together since l was sixteen , he may not be the man he was at first but still he is the father of my kids and l will bear up with whatever he does " , l snapped with anger blazing in my eyes .
At my words , everyone stopped eating and looked at me with surprise all over their faces . Justin also looked at me with a smirk on his face but l held up my head high . I know l currently hated myself for what Mark does to me but at this time , l needed to say something . " I'm sorry if you felt like I was rude but l do admire you're sticking to your family " , Justin lastly apologized in defeat . At his response l didn't respond, l just smiled at him .
" Excuse me " , Just as everything was cool , Adrian excused himself and of course l guessed it . I was now damn screwed up .
