Chapter 2 - Chapter Two: Her Cousin

Four hours later when Wren was sure classes has ended, Wren was waiting outside the studio building still hidden as though she wanted to ambush whomever walked. When she was sure no one would see her, she snuck through the main door and felt relaxed when she got to the corridors.

The corridors were slightly lit and lacked human presence making Wren completely aware of every sound she could possibly hear. Seconds later Wren found the main studio, the lights were switched off and thankfully the doors were unlocked. She slid in smoothly and checked around again before she switched on the lights.

Wren knew the main studio like she knew her own room; every corner, every switch and every implement that were used by the staffs. She had been sneaking into this particular building since she was eighteen and spent over thirty hours in general every year since then. Although she needed barely five minutes to do what she had to do, she spent extra minutes just sitting on the studio floor.

Not like she was expecting an interruption but she locked the door just in case, removed her sweater and stared at herself in the mirror. She still had on her black sports bra and leggings from when she dressed up in the morning, the bun on top of her head was now messed up from the continous adjustings of her hood, to her this was the perfect representation of 'a girl fighting for something'.

She checked the time on her phone one more time then slid it across the room. Wren took one last glance at the doors behind her, looked at herself again for another second and closed her eyes.

This was were the work started. Wren had to find the strongest emotion and let it control her, she had to feel the same as the person who harbored that feeling or even stronger. It took only seconds for her to sense it, this time someone was drunk, she could see the person sitting on the sidewalk going through her phone. Wren squeezed her eyes tighter trying to see what the lady was looking at on her phone and slowly the letters started to clear out, Wren put in extra attention until she was able to form words out of those letters and could understand what the text meant and who they were from.

The point where she could completely comprehend the reason for the feeling was the exact moment another spirit took possession of her body. Wren was used to this and without struggling, she let go.

Her irises lost their colour as she was thrown into a three minute trance.

Whatever took over her body treated it like it was theirs moving it in the direction it led, her body became much more flexible than it natural was, like her muscles, bones and even flesh were working in alignment with the music. It took everything out of Wren like it was trying to wash off the emotions from the initial person who was sheltering those feelings. In reality she was possessed for exactly three minutes but to her it felt like ten.

Her body became an instrument of language, trying to scream out the frustration of the moment. Her movements were swift and elegant dancing around with exceptional grace. Her speed, flexes and pauses worked in perfection with the music. Wren didn't need to be mentally conscious to know she was completely a different person.

When it finally let go of her, she fell to the floor drenched in sweat, her breathing was rapid and loud. The feeling wasn't painful, in fact it was euphoric. It was at this very moment that she let herself savour the ending lines of the songs that felt more like they were played in her head rather than out loud. One of the greatest mysteries was how songs that are in line with the mood played by themselves from her phone, either they already existed or immediately appeared by themselves.

With a smile beginning to form on her face, Wren spread herself on the ground her skin immediately feeling the cold floor. She Remembered the girl from earlier and her smile widened, happy with the fact that she had played her part.

Throwing Wren from her moment of self-praise a knock came from the door making Wren jump up from her comfortable spot in an inelegantly manner to find a place to hide.

It was hard for her to keep herself out of sight especially in a studio where mirrors were everywhere.

"Hey, uhm... I already saw you." a voice called out. Wren froze.

"Not trying to sound creepy but I've actually been standing here for some time." He spoke again and became quiet for a minute.

Wren heard little fits of causes before the voice continued. "I thought you were someone else that's the only reason I followed you when I saw you walk into the studio." There was a pause. "Could you please just unlock the door."

Wren still didn't move from where she was hiding, in fact she was mentally slapping herself for forgetting to pick up her sweater which was now on the display for whomever was at the door to see.

"Actually I recognize you from today, you were talking to my cousin." the voice continued while Wren was thinking of a way to bring her sweater towards her.

"I don't know if you remember but her name's Maria, she's short and likes to ask a lot of questions."

The mention of the girl's name made Wren freeze, now she could place a face to the voice. It was the Asian guy with long hair, the one that came for the girl, for Maria.

Wren peeked at the door from where she was hiding and surely it was him, her cousin?
