Wren stayed in her hiding spot for another minute trying to relax her shaking nerves. She did not want to meet anyone from the girl's family, it only made things worse for her but there was no use staying hidden, he already said he saw her walk in, the lights on and her sweater on display only proved that someone was actually inside.
She slowly stood up from where she was hiding, picked up her phone then sweater and hurriedly put it on. She made her way to the door making sure not to make eye contact, switched off the lights, unlocked the door and went out to meet the guy.
"Hi." She spoke first, trying to walk past him and leave.
"You dance really.." he paused, looking for the word to complete his sentence, "-wow."
Wren stopped as silence followed, she knew it was her cue to say something, a response? a compliment? a question? she wasn't sure so she said the thing at the top of her mind.
"you are a pretty man."
The silence that followed caused Wren to cringe. She wanted to turn around and see his reaction, still she wanted to run far away from the akwardness she had caused.
"Uhm..." he started, his reaction was biting her soul. "Thank you."
Wren nodded still not turning to face him.
"I've never seen you dance with the others." he continued, "honestly I'm not sure I've ever seen you up until..." he shrugged his shoulders like he was mentioning the obvious even when he knew she could not see him, " Maria."
The mention of her name prompted Wren's legs to move leaving the man standing there.
"Hey, you're going?" he asked, almost immediately to stop her. "You were inside just now and I don't think you were supposed to, aren't you meant to say something?"
Wren turned calculatedly to face him finally making eye contact, she took her time to think before she spoke.
"You're not supposed to be here too." Wren stated, eyeing him from hair to shoe, only then did she notice that he was wearing the same clothes from earlier.
"And you don't look like security."
"What makes you think I'm not security?" he asked, Wren gave no response.
Wren said a cringed 'sorry' in her head for making him braid the conversation himself.
Honestly Wren did not want to keep standing inside an empty building talking to someone she had only met once and a half times and was trying to use her demeanor to tell him.
He noticed how she kept looking behind herself completely uninterested in whatever conversation he wanted to have so he mentally nodded understanding that she wasn't comfortable with the position they were both in.
"You can leave if you want to." he told her, quietly sighing to himself. Wren wasted no time to leave his presence going back in the direction she used coming in.
