Chapter 4 - I'm Not Good At This

It was the next day.

I somehow had the impression that Najimi and Hoshoujo would talk again regardless of status and reputation but now, it seems like both of them are avoiding each other now.

It's just the second day of school, I can't believe I'm already witnessing a mid-friendship crisis.

Okai: [Why are you here at our desks? Aren't you supposed to be with your friend there?]

Mendou: [Shhhh! I'm trying to observe from here. Sometimes you have to go far to see how to get closer.]

Yes. I was hanging out with Okai and Migi for the time being in every break. But I never left Najimi, he just chose to stay in his seat and never leave.

Maybe he did or said something yesterday that made Hoshoujo mad? But, she doesn't look like she's angry though.

???: [Kyaaa! Look! He's just staring into the window! Even his resting face looks cool!]

Besides us, three were the so-low-key admirers of Najimi.

It was just a group of girls that was open about having a crush on Najimi since the first day.

They flocked around him like a bunch of crying seagulls at our second break yesterday, and until I went in and shoo-ed them all, Najimi was just too timid to even ask them to move.

He thanked me after that day for buying me an expensive game that I can't even play without that latest console.

I sometimes question his decisions if he's deliberately doing it on purpose or if he's just clueless.

Migi: [Yes, yes. Scream more, crying seagulls. My ears are bleeding now!]

???: [Oh, shut up! You're just jealous because you didn't have any girls flock to you despite being a transfer student back then!]

Migi: [W-Wha! I never said anything like that!]

Namako Gotako. She's the leader of the seagulls. A hard-on gyaru with all the glittery stuff on her... stuffs.

She is also Migi's friend since elementary when he transferred in. Despite their hostile-sounding relationship, they always interact like that, or so I heard.

Okai: [Look. Migi's just jealous cause his crush is getting taken away by a very handsome man. If I were you, I'd give up. I won't ever compete with the son of a supermodel.]

Shrugging his shoulders, Okai tapped my shoulder and gave an explanation of the situation unfolding before us.

I knew from the start that Migi had a crush on Namako. It wasn't instinct, but it was just because the strap on his bag is the same as hers.

Maybe no one had noticed yet but, almost every strap this guy has is about gyarus. It's very obvious—

Migi: [S-Shut up! I'll kill you, you bastard!]

Migi just suddenly strangled Okai out of a whim. I, who was just a bystander in this chaos, stood completely still to be remained unnoticed.

Did I just become friends with violent people—?

However, just as I tried to sneak out of that sticky situation.

???: [Uh, is Najimi-senpai here?]

The door to the classroom opened, causing a complete silence to all the noise inside the room.

As if the world stopped, everyone was looking at the guy who was at the door, looking for Najimi.

Okai: [A confession?]

???: [——No! Geez! Someone's looking for him.]

Just as we all heard that a resounding footstep echoed in the corridor.

It was coming from the right where this guy just walked out from, and as it comes close by, we knew that this wasn't the sound of a student's shoes.

Namako: [A someone wearing heels?! A 160cm beauty?!]

Migi: [Y-You knew that just from the sound? As expected from a gyaru!]

Anyone who already heard the sound of heels would know that those are heels, but for her to know its beauty? That's just some high-level insight.

Maybe it's what they call a woman's intuition?

In any case, I knew that this was coming.

The doors would open widely with a woman barging in, walking towards Najimi Kai who just stared right back at her.

The woman looked as if she would be featured in a monthly gravure, but with the way she dressed, she somehow gives a hit more impression of being a fashion designer due to her eccentric tastes.

Najimi: [What are you doing here, Kaede-niisan?]

Kaede: [To warn my brother, of course.]

[——EHH?!? Nii-san?!]

Everyone in the room was shocked to hear the woman's voice come out as a young man's voice. It seemed like it fell out of place in her, or rather, his body.

Being a friend of Najimi means knowing everything about their family.

I reacted the same as everyone before when I first met Kai's brother, Kaede. He'd tease me about actually thinking that he was a girl, but sometimes I think he's just doing it to gain both the female's and male's attention.

As expected of a model and almost narcissistic family...

Najimi: [You're troubling everyone.]

Kai: [Eh~? Is that right?]

Suddenly, Kaede's voice would sound like a real woman, confusing everyone even more as they panic and just go into complete chaos.

He was having fun doing this, but when the last time I met him, he had never done that, or maybe he haven't learned it yet until I suggested the idea.

——OR WAIT! Then that means I'm the one who is at the fault now? I'm sorry everyone. To think that I'll be a contributor to your suffering.

Najimi: [So, what are you here for? Just spit it out. You never visit me unless its father delivering his message.]

Kaede: [Ah. That's right. He did send me here to relay a message.]

Mendou: [——Ah. That's so old school.]

They might be rich, but to think they'll still be sending out messages like this.

And as we expected, this cross-dressing maniac only leaned towards Najimi's ear, whispering something.

We were all standing too far to hear anything, but as soon as they were done, Kaede clapped his hands as five servants come in and handed out boxes of what I might call expensive wine.

Okai: [H-Hey... Aren't we too young for this?]

Kaede: [Ah. That's a 0% alcohol wine. Even a young man like you would be able to drink it.]

Using his woman voice, Kaede talked and touched Okai's chin up as he passed by to exit the classroom.

Kaede: [That's all, thank you, everyone!]

Just like a storm, he left the room in a devastated, yet a peaceful moment.

No one knew what Kaede told Najimi, and even if they wanted to ask, Najimi only continued to stare right out the window.

Migi: [O-Okai. Are you alright?]

Okai: [I-I'm... confused. I was sure she was a guy, but her scent, and her touch—]

Migi: [G-Get yourself together! Don't be fooled Migi! That's a guy! You're the one who's supposed that better!]

Okai was kneeling on the ground, crying.

I have no idea why this guy is crying, but it seems like he never actually got a meter close to a girl. That still stands since Kaede was a guy.

Even if Najimi's brother crossdresses, he still has a girlfriend.

In any case, I went towards Najimi and tapped him in the back. Despite his cool-looking image of staring into the skies, he's troubled by something he heard from his brother.

By the way, Kaede said "him and he," it must be their father.

Najimi: [Oh. Yeah. They told me to stay away from Hoshoujo.]

Mendou: [Huh? Why is that?]

Just a quick reminder. This is the second day of school, and I still don't have any idea of their family relations except that they had a rival.

Najimi: [It's a complicated story. But, I won't be following their orders. I will decide for myself.]

Mendou: [...Huh?]

Did I just see this guy talk like an MC in some sort of anime?

I would smack him out if I found that line in any of the anime and movies we watched at home.

Regardless of that, I had an idea why that was happening. Either that they didn't want Najimi to have a girlfriend here, or that the Hoshoujo is their rival.

It could be also both, but one is enough.

Mendou: [By deciding yourself, you mean...?]

Najimi: [I'll continue to talk to her. To see if everything they said about her are lies. I don't trust my parents when it comes to these things. The only thing they are reliable on is fashion.]

Mendou: [W-Well, it is their profession after all.]

Today, Najimi became assertive and would take any chances to talk to her, but as time passed by, Hoshojou would leave the classroom in her free time, and would go somewhere we can't find.

It was the second day of school, and today was both eventful and tiring.
