"Sky."
Zeno's eyes remained glued to Xander when he heard that word.
Why would his dragon react that way when she was mentioned? It could only mean one thing.
It was now dawned on him as his mind connected the pieces together. The look they gave each other when they met after a long time and his talk about her.
Everything made sense now.
"You do not mean to say that she is…"
"Don't say it," Xander hinted.
He did not have to say the words for Zeno to understand what he spoke about. Just one word and there was no return.
He wouldn't be able to go back.
Zeno's eyes bore into his, reading his thoughts to the best of his knowledge from having spent years by his side.
And when Xander saw his chest rise, his heart felt calm. Successfully he had prevented Zeno from saying the word out.
At the very least till he figured out the truth behind it.
"Your mate."
