In a small and dimly lit room, a little girl sat on the floor beside her mother in a corner as she sobbed uncontrollably. The sounds of things falling and crashing could be heard from the next room and at every sound, the little girl flinched and clutched her mother's dress tightly.
From where they sat, they could see the shadows of those crazed people who were looking for them. The room was already a mess as those people had destroyed everything while. looking for them.
"I'm so scared Mommy". The little girl whispered to her mother who immediately placed a hand over her mouth. Her mother patted her back gently and gave her an assuring smile.
"Find them and bring them to me". A deep male voice said and the mother and daughter duo moved closer to each other with the little girl already trembling.
"They should be in here. This is the only place we have not checked". Another male voice said.
"That's good to hear". The deep male voice said again. "You hear that? We are just a step away from finding you both so just come out and save us the trouble". His dark chuckle resounded in the dark room.
The woman pulled her daughter closer to herself as she closed her eyes, sighing deeply. She didn't want to do something bad in front of her daughter as it could haunt her for the rest of her life but it seems she had no choice. That man was right. They were just a step away from getting caught and if they do get caught, it wouldn't end well for anyone.
Suddenly, a shadow fell on them, jolting the woman out of her thoughts. She quickly moved forward, shielding her daughter away from that evil shadow. For a second, the shadow was still, not moving or doing anything and in the next second, the owner of the shadow laughed loudly making the woman cringe from within.
The person squared in front of the woman, with a big smile on his face. "Good to see you again Annette, it's been so long". The man spoke in an excited yet gentle voice that would make it seem like he was friends with the woman.
Annette smiled. "Unfortunately, I can't say the same thing to you". The man's smile widened when he heard her. This was what he loved the most. He loved watching his prey try to be brave at its point of death.
"You are still the same Annette. You haven't changed one bit". The man commented with his smile still dancing on his lips.
"I could say the same about you Vincent". Annette smiled back at him. "Now, I know that you haven't come here just to pay a visit. What do you want?". Annette asked with a smile that would have been beautiful if not for the killing intent in her eyes.
"This is so you Annette, straight to the point as always. I don't mind though. It will save us our time". The smile on the man's face fell and was replaced by extreme seriousness. "I want your daughter".
Annette's smile widened her pearly white teeth on display. "What makes you think I will give her to you? I will rather kill her myself than give her to a disgusting being like you"
Vincent's hands flew to his chest dramatically and he scrunched his face like he was hurt. "Ouch, that hurts so much Anne". His expression flipped to anger in the next second and he grabbed Annette's jaw roughly. "I really don't care what you think of me Annette. Just give me the girl and I will disappear like I was never here". Vincent's voice was soft which contrasted with his fingers that were digging into her jaw.
Annette laughed again which made a smile etch itself on Vincent's lips. "This is what I like about you Annette, this pretty smile of yours. But it's a pity…" he clicked his tongue, "this may be the last time I or anyone gets to see it".
"Give up Vincent''. Annette started. "You won't get what you want, so just give up". She started cooly and Vincent chuckled, his eyes turning a few shades darker as he stared into her hazel ones.
"You're right Annette. I won't get what I want but that is only if you are alive. If you die now then I will have nothing to worry about". He pulled out a gun and pointed it at her forehead.
"Oh Vincent! You know this doesn't scare me". Annette said in between smiles. "Just leave while I'm being nice".
"Oh, but you can't do anything. Not in front of your sweet little daughter". He smiled. "Just give the girl to me Anne, I will take good care of her". Vincent said sincerely but the sinister smile on his face gave him away.
Annette's face turned ashen all of a sudden. Vincent was right. She wouldn't be able to do anything with her daughter here. She looked behind her to see her daughter who had her eyes shut tightly as beads of sweat formed on her forehead and slid down her face, mixing with her tears.
"Come on Anne, just give the child to me and put an end to all this". Vincent said, putting the gun away and stretching his hands to reach the girl. "Argh..". He grunted as Annette ran a knife through his wrist.
"Stay away from my daughter Vincent". Annette's eyes were closed as she spoke and a deadly aura enveloped her. in her hand was the knife she had used to harm Vincent which was now covered in blood.
Vincent's eyes widened when he saw the knife. He has seen both her hands before and was sure that she had no weapon so where did that knife come from? He moved away from them, keeping a safe distance but still watching Annette who still had her eyes closed, and her daughter closely
