Hannan woke up with a start as she heard a faint noise. The first thing she did was to look at Penelope and when she was sure that the child was alright, she closed her eyes and sighed in relief.
Her phone rang and she picked it up from the bedside stool to see who was calling at this time of night. It was Raymond.
Hannah sighed. This is not good, she thought as she took the call and placed the phone on her ear and the first thing she heard was, "You are surrounded".
Raymond's voice sounded strained like he was battling with something within and Hannah understood immediately. She was about to hang up and put her phone away when she heard Raymond's voice again.
"Stay calm Hannah. Don't move from where you are. Lucas is already there and everything will be fine". Hannah hung up and dropped her phone back on the stool. She stood up and walked over to Penelope's side of the bed and carefully covered her with the blanket as if shielding her from something.
Raymond told her to stay still but when has she ever listened to him? She went to the closet and opened it before entering inside and shutting the door.
What was supposed to be a normal closet was filled with weapons of different types and sizes. There were weapons as long as her forearm and some as short as her fingers among others. Every weapon in the closet glistened in the dim light of the room to show how sharp they were.
Hannah picked two small knives and placed them in the strap of her pajama pants and walked over to a drawer that was filled with masks of different types. She picked a simple black mask and placed it over her face. It covered her whole face leaving only two small holes for her eyes. She didn't know how many assassins were here but it was still safe to keep her face hidden as she couldn't risk being seen by one of them
She stepped out of the closet and looked at the sleeping Penelope again before leaving the room.
The minute she stepped out of the room, she felt it stronger, the presence of the assassins. So far, there was only one gang that was brave enough to attack her in her home and she knew that it was the same gang that had come to pay her a visit tonight.
Crazy as it may sound, she wanted to meet those people, not to kill them, but to know who they were and why they were after her. In all her life, she has never met a gang like this one. A gang who carries a suffocating stench of death wherever they go. She didn't know who they were or why they were after her but she knew that they were not going to let her be after she single-handedly killed fourteen of their members.
She didn't have the time to think anymore as she felt some of them getting closer and closer to where she was. She was surprised for a second though, she thought it would take longer for them to get in since Lucas was outside. This only shows how strong they were.
With slow steps, she moved to the open space behind the house and sure enough, she met them there, and without hesitating, she launched at them. She was going to finish this off quickly as it wouldn't be good if Penelope woke up to a scene like this. She was the only one against eight of these assassins but she could handle them. She was Hannah after all.
She drew out the knives from her waistband and started fighting, aiming at their vital points. She was not the type to toy with her opponents so each time she got one of them, she quickly ran the knife through their neck or drove the knife straight through their chests. This was the fastest and easiest way as far as she was concerned and within minutes, the bodies of the assassins were scattered across the floor with Hannah standing in the middle, covered in blood.
Before she could leave that place, another group of people surrounded her and attacked her immediately. She didn't even have the time to count them but they were more in number compared to the first group. Just like the first time, within minutes, she was done with them and only one was remaining.
The assassin circled Hannah as a predator does to its prey but Hannah wasn't scared. If anything she was studying the assassin's movement. He didn't look like he wanted to kill her, he wanted something else but she didn't know what it was. Suddenly, a knife flew towards her face, splitting her mask in two before it fell off and hit the ground.
Hannah stood still in shock as she realized what had just happened. That assassin wanted to see her face! That was not good. If that assassin manages to get away alive then she is doomed.
In her shock, she didn't realize that the assassin was already getting away and when she did realize it, she tried throwing a knife at him but someone beat her to it as the assassin fell backward with the knife that was thrown at him, stuck to his forehead.
A masked man emerged from the shadows, ran toward Hannah, and stopped right in front of her. "Are you alright?" Raymond asked in concern as his eyes roamed around Hannah's body hoping against everything that the blood on her clothes belonged to the assassins she had killed and not hers. He was happy that he arrived just in time to see the assassin split Hannah's mask and he ended up throwing the knife at the assassin to stop him from getting away.
"Go inside". Raymond ordered . Hannah couldn't even refuse as Raymond already saw her getting attacked and any form of hesitation from her could lead to her being bound up and taken away.
Nodding, she was about to leave when another assassin ran towards them but Raymond stabbed him with his stiletto just in time before he could get to Hannah.
"Go inside". Raymond ordered again and this time Hannah ran inside immediately. It would be better if she stayed with Penelope at a time like this.
