"Perhaps I should help." He hummed in response and as I was about to take a look at the menu with him, Vanessa suddenly cleared her throat loudly, drawing our attention.
"... Are you alright?" I asked, biting back a smile and giving her a blank look, and she stiffly nodded with her eyes fixed on the table while she fiddled with one of the neatly folded handkerchiefs on it.
"Do you need water?" James added, prepared to raise his hand to signal the waiter, and she lifted her eyes to mine. When her gaze lingered for several moments without her saying anything, I raised a brow at her. She then plastered a smile on her face and gave us a dismissive wave before signaling for the waiter to come over.
