"Are you alright?," Tommy asked Lucifer who adverted his gaze from Alexa. His usual taunting smirk settled on his perfect face.
"Just peachy," He told, "What can I help you with Mr?"
"Tommy, just Tommy, I'm the deputy sheriff of this town,"
"Oh my, what brings the deputy sheriff of this fine town to my humble home?," He asked, his gaze however was locked on the girl next to him. She seemed like his polar opposite yet captivating. Her fierce and bold attitude was incredibly appealing. She had lips and a body to die for. Fuck why didn't he notice until now?
"Well there's no easy way to say this," Tommy held his breath before adding, "Four teenagers were found dead this morning," His report earned him a gasp from Lucifer
"Dead?, oh my that is so horrible," His exaggeration and his fake concern irked Alexa as her voice twitched in annoyance. Was he a psychopath?, she thought with a frown
"Hey show some empathy, fucking psycho,"
"Ahem!, let me handle this," Tommy nudged her across the shoulders while Lucifer broke out a sexual smile. Her short temper was like an addictive drug to the lycan.
"It is such terrible news to hear Tom Tom," He said as Tommy snapped his gaze toward Lucifer, he hated the nickname, "But...its nothing new, teenagers die all the time for a lot of reasons, accidents, drugs, sex that takes their breath away, you know the stuff,"
"It wasn't none of those things," Tommy said letting out a tired sigh, "Their bodies were found ripped to shreds,"
"Animal attack?," Lucifer asked feigning innocence and concern crossing his arms over his chest
"That's our guess at the moment,"
"Then why are you here questioning me when you should be out there hunting this wretched animal?" Lucifer slanted his gaze, "Wait a fucking minute, you don't think I am an animal do you now, Tom Tom?,"
"What?, no, of course not," Tommy stuttered. Argh he wasn't getting anywhere with his questions, the sexy stranger successfully evaded and twisted his questions into questions of his own. He was a professional at mind games.
"Where were you last night?," Alexandra chimed in with a sharp and blunt question
"At home, satisfying these women, obviously," He said in a matter-of-fact tone, "What do I have to do with their deaths?,"
"I don't know, I just find it too convenient, four teenagers end up dead after you show up, don't you think so?," She retorted with a fierce stare amplified by her translucent round glasses. Never in his wildest dream did he imagine having someone like her as his mate. She was everything he was not besides bold and daring
"There's a term for this darling, what was it called again," He said tapping his chin in thought, "Oh I remember it's called coincidence,"
"Are you going to charge me for simply moving into a small town at a bad time sheriff?,"
"Tsk...and what of your brother?, where was he all night?," She asked clenching her jaws in annoyance at how clever Lucifer was in evading questions, was he the devil himself like his name suggested?, she pondered
"He spent the night arranging our stuff," He responded, tapping his foot against the fine wooden floors
"Can we have a word with him?, wouldn't take too much of your time," The Deputy sheriff requested
"It's fine by me, on one condition," Lucifer said with a smile.
"Which is?," Alexa asked squinting her gaze at him trying to figure out his angle, he wasn't possibly going to ask her to sleep with him?, would he?, knowing how shameless and psychopathic he was, she couldn't rule out the possibility
"You'll give me answers to three questions," He requested moving closer to her. And with each step, she found her heart pace quicker as though running a marathon race. His hip movements were a sight to behold.
"Eyes up here darling," Lucifer gently lifted her chin while Tommy quickly slapped his hands away from her face. Alexa's face heated red in embarrassment at how she had been caught red-handed staring shamelessly at Lucifer.
"Don't touch her," He warned with a glare earning a chuckle from Lucifer who would see it clear as crystal. The feelings the deputy sheriff had for his mate.
"Easy there Tom Tom," He teased, "So what do you say darling?, do we have a deal?,"
"Fine we have a deal, first question," She said letting out a sigh.
"Your name?," He asked his first
"Alexandra,"
"Alexandra," He muttered savoring the sound of it. He loved the way her name rolled off his tongue as he whispered it out loud to himself.
"Such a beautiful name," He told her with a smile while she was taken aback by the sudden and unexpected compliment. He couldn't believe how much he loved her name. It was simple and sweet, just like her. He was in love with everything about her, but her name was the icing on the cake.
"Second question?," She requested ignoring his compliments
"Do you have a boyfriend or someone you love?," She knitted her brows at his question. Why did he care who she loved or dated?, knowing refusing to answer his question would anull the deal she replied
"No," Her reply earned a wide grin from Lucifer who felt pleased with her answer.
"Last question,"
"Do you see yourself with someone like me?, like a possi.."
"No!" She shut him off which sent a dagger into his cold icy heart however he refused to show it but instead broke out a smile. He had expected such an answer, he could tell winning her heart would be the hardest thing he would ever encounter.
Nonetheless, he was prepared for it, he was certain he could make any woman fall for him. I mean who wouldn't, he was like a walking god. He possessed a beauty second to none.
"She answered your questions now can you take us to your brother?,"
"Of course," He nodded, "The devil never goes back on his word,"
He said before exiting the room with Alexa and Tommy trailing behind him. Lucifer led to the room at the end corner of his and gently placed his hands on the doorknob and opened the door.
"Coming in Lu Lu," He told the figure at the other side of the room.
The room was shrouded in an eerie darkness that seemed to swallow anything that entered it. Not a single ray of sunlight penetrated the room, as large black cotton blocked the sunlight leaving it void of even the slightest glimmer of light. It felt as though the darkness had a life of its own, swirling around the space like a thick, impenetrable fog.
The walls were made of cold, damp stone, and there was a chill in the air that made the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. The air was still, with not even the slightest breeze to break the unsettling quiet that pervaded the room.
"Watch your steps," Lucifer said while Alexa and Tommy wore a surprised and confused expressions. It was as though they were teleported into a different building.
As Alexa's eyes adjusted to the near-blackness, she could make out the outlines of some furniture and objects scattered throughout the room. A large bed and a golden chair at its side. A bookshelf with lots of books arranged in order at the side of the walls.
"Brother you have visitors," Amidst the darkness, she could make out the presence of a figure sitting on a chair with golden hair and irises who stared deep into her soul. He lit the fireplace next to him which illuminated his surroundings and revealed his unnatural beauty to her. He wore a long white sleeve and black pants. His gaze seemed empty and void as he spoke in a deep tone
"What can I help you with?,"
