Chapter 18 - Bishop

Lakan headed back to his study room while Tara went about looking for a suitable room that was a reasonable distance away from his room. She would make sure to add some little adjustments to the room especially to the doors and walls so no one can eavesdrop on her conversation as she did in the study room. She had a feeling Lakan would want to know what was going on in that room. She would also ensure no camera was placed in the room as well as ensure there was no form of bugging in the room. Her source of concern was also the look of worry she saw on the face of Lakan. What could have made him worry that way? These days Lakan was behaving differently from what she used to know. He was giving out more emotions these days.

Underneath all these, she also has a plan to have a look around that secret study room. She was sure something of a clue would be there as to why her parents were killed. According to what Lakan told her, the plan have been on for years they just needed an opportunity.

For Lakan he had a lot of things to worry about as he headed back to his study room. Why Tara had suddenly changed so much was a source of concern for him. The woman he had met several times before their marriage was different from the one he got married to.

"Was she pretending to be a timid person? Who is this woman? How did she know I was going to assign Sarah to her that she even had to ask for her? What is this talk about keeping her fathers business when she has no experience, She doesn't understand the risk she will be putting herself into. What do I do about this woman?

These and more questions kept Lakan lost in his thought as he didn't even know when his right-hand man Bishop walked into the study room. Bishop had to clear his throat severely to get the attention of Lakan.

Bishop had not been at the wedding yesterday. He was on a private mission that was given to him by Lakan before the marriage. He had to rush back that morning when he heard what happened. He was the closest person to Lakan closer to him than even his family members. They have been together for over ten years and Lakan never hides anything from him. They were like best friends but Lakan was still the boss and Bishop knew when not to cross the line with him especially when Lakan was angry.

If I were an enemy you would have been dead by now" Bishop said announcing his presence to a shocked Lakan who didn't know when or how he entered the room.

But he didn't border to sag anything to defend himself. He was just relieved that it was Bishop who had seen him in such a vulnerable state. Only he could enter the room like that and not suffer any consequence

"When did you come back? Lakan asked

" I had to rush down this morning when I heard about the incident. I was sorry I was not around, the assassin would never have left the scene alive " Bishop said bowing his head slightly to show how sorry he was. They had become so close that he hardly bowed his head as a sign of respect to Lakan but anything it was for something very important he had to do it. It was a sign to Lakan that he meant whatever he was saying.

"I am fine it wasn't your fault" Lakan replied waving off the issue. In this line of business, one expects fo to be shot now and then. For Lakan he had lost count of how many times he has been shot.

"You looked troubled when I walked in, you hardly even knew that I walked in yet you want me not to worry. Do you have to tell me what is wrong? Bishop asked taking one of the seats opposite Lakan so he could look him eye to eye.

"A lot is happening right now that I can't easily put together. The Assassin issue and the new behavior of Tara. I can't tell why she has changed so much" Lakan complained

"For the assassin, I will make sure to find the person before this week ends but for you wife, I don't understand what you mean. Can you throw more light? Or is it a husband and wife issue about the bedroom? Bishop asked as a silly smile crept into his face.

Lakan looked at him and nodded his head negatively. Only Bishop was capable of cracking jokes around Lakan when something serious is being discussed.

" It's nothing like that, okay let me explain" Lakan took time to explain everything to Bishop not missing out on any detail. He could also see the look of surprise on the face of Bishop by the time he was done with the explanation.

"If Tara did all these things that mean she has changed and we will need to find out why she has changed so much. It is not possible that she was pretending all this time. I mean no one can pretend so well. I did a proper investigation into her and it was all the same. She was all timid and weak" Bishop said with confidence.

"Then could she have changed in one night? Lakan asked convinced that Tara fooled everyone for a reason.

" But then even if she has changed it is a good thing for you. You have always said you wanted to be with a strong woman, someone who knows what she wants. With all Tara has asked for she knows what she wants " Bishop pointed out.

"I know, I know bug, not someone from the Lockwood family who is strong. She will be at great risk don't you understand what this means to my family? Lakan asked the worried look returning to his face.

Bishop kept quiet for a while before responding as an idea came into his head

" Talking about your family, I hope you have not forgotten the traditional welcoming of a new bride will be done tomorrow in your family house"
