He left Reina in Livia's care and went back to the scene outside the palace.
The place was dry and quiet, dead bodies were lying at every corner, just then he spotted someone coming to him from a distance.
"Your Highness." He bowed.
"Everything had been sorted out, the warriors stop fighting as soon as they got to know His Highness Prince Theodore had been locked up." He halted as he noticed Lorcan wasn't listening.
"Your Highness? Is there anything wrong?." He asked.
"Yes, I can't stop thinking of who would let the guard in to kidnap My Princess."
"I know it's someone from the palace of Agrah Your Highness." He nodded.
"But no one would betray a family friend?." He asked confused.
"I'm doing some investigations, we will find out soon but for now there's nothing to worry about, you both are safe as long as His Highness Prince Theodore is locked up." He assured.
"I'm thinking it should be Lysander." Lorcan muttered.
"No Your Highness, His Highness left Samai Kingdom days ago, he couldn't deal with His Highness Prince Theodore. I'm certain it's someone from The Palace of Agrah, someone that knew about Her Highness being there."
All Matthew said made sense to Lorcan but who would betray him? Who would want Reina harmed?, all the people of that palace are family friends so why would any want to betray him?.
"I should leave Your Highness, My Wife is at the Midwives hut, I need to go be with her so if I must Your Highness." He bowed.
"Yes you may, wish her safe delivery from I and My Princess."
"Yes Your Highness But before I leave I want to let you know that the votes are counting." He halted when he saw his confused face.
"What I mean is, the people are voting you as King, more votes came from the women in the villages, they all want you and not His Highness Theodore."
"I don't want the Throne Matthew, I don't want to have anything to do with it." His eyes were fixed at something.
"We can't leave the kingdom with no king Your Highness, the villages sees you fit for the Throne and if you ask me you'd make a great King. You're a great warrior and could defend the kingdom against external attacks, everyone is beginning to see the good side of you Your Highness."
"I don't want to be king but still I don't want Theodore or Lysander be either and Matthew was right, we can't leave the people with no king." He said to himself.
"Either ways I'd be on my way Your Highness." He bowed and got on his horse and rode off leaving Lorcan in his thoughts.
Soon after he left to see Reina, She was awake but she had tears in her eyes, as soon as she saw him standing by the door she wiped the tears off her face and looked away from him.
"I'm sorry Wife." He came to her and took her hands in his.
"I'm not angry with you." She took her hands away.
"Why then are you crying?." He asked looking into both her eyes.
"I'm only crying because I'm hurt, you were in there hurting yourself without considering how I'd feel." She burst out crying.
"This.. this few days has really been for me and you were just never there." She shook her head.
"You were never there, you got too busy either with work or with Lyra, that..that day I.. saw how in love you both were,that was why I ran away from there and now you came looking for me like you care."
"What are you saying Wife? Of course I care about you." He held her hand and kissed it.
"I care about you cause you're My Wife, My only Wife, no one can ever change that, and Lyra? Nothing happened between us, trust me."
"I..just..I just want to have you all to myself Lorcan, I.." before she said another word he drew her to himself and hugged her.
"Stop crying." He rubbed her back.
"I'm sorry I made you go through all of this, I shouldn't have ran away." She sobbed.
"I should be the one saying sorry Wife, for letting Theodore's dirty hands touch you, for letting you be in that disgusting place, for making you have this injury, Lord knows I would've killed him if I was right there with you Wife." He kissed her head.
"I failed as Your Husband and I felt really bad about it, I shouldn't have let you out of my sight. I regret making you ever cry Reina, please punish me for this." He lifted up her chin, making her look at him.
"I can never do that Your Highness." She touched his face and kissed him all over then she smiled.
"I've managed to learn that from My Teacher." She smiled but her eyes were still a bit teary.
"Do you have any idea of who kidnapped you? Did you his face?." He asked.
"Yes but I find it hard to remember."
"I will make sure he doesn't go unpunished for this." He looked at his innocent Wife, how she had managed to go through all these because of him.
"I don't ever want to see this Wife." He wiped off the tear with his thumb and kissed the tear away.
"I promise to never let any of this repeat itself, forgive me Wife."
"I forgive you." She hugged I'm again.
"Tell me, tell me what you want me to do to Theodore, should I cut his head off or burn him alive or throw him into the boiling lava?." He pulled her away and held her shoulders.
"I..don't.."
"No, I want to make him feel the pain I felt when you were kidnapped, the pain I went through every second you spent away from me. I felt like my soul left my body Reina."
"Just let me hold you."
